Being able to play this piece seems to me the most difficult achievement of humans. I saw it live and couldnt believe my eyes. I think everyone that can play this can also win a wsop main event or write a new Windows and become a billionaire?!
in violin your eyes dont help much by the time u learn to play this piece eyes are only used to determine which string ur bow is hitting on and finger position is 80% based on feel and dat point, so it might actually help u feel the music when u close ur eyes
It is a common trait among great classical violinists. One of my favorites was Isaac Stern (all of the violin playing from Fiddler on the Roof is from him). If you look at his video, he also plays with his eyes closed. Me! Good grief I have to watch my hands like a hawk, but then I am a novice Irish Fiddler, even though I have had lessons for Four Years.
Ricardo Sanchez tbh playing violin with my eyes closed helps me remember what note I play, etc. And in a concert, if you keep your eyes open, you’ll see a lot of people staring at you, which gives you more pressure.
Just imagine when you want to try out a violin before buying it in a music store and you play this. The reaction of the shopkeep would be priceless

Memorization usually comes naturally, because when you practice you have to go through the piece thousands of times. You cannot not-memorize :)
