It’s worth pointing out to anyone who is NOT in Ireland just how horrible the weather has been, as always George I am very impressed at your commitment to working in adverse weather conditions. The fuel pump/filter/accumulator assembly looks identical to the 1977 W123 280e that I had a few years ago, I looked back at some photos to confirm. I’m my case I had to change the accumulator to fix a hot start issue, and then I had to change the old pump after accidentally fuelling with an E20 ethanol/petrol mix which caused no end of problems. Great to see you doing such a conscientious job there, this car will live another 30 years for sure.
Cheers Andy. Sure if you stopped because of the weather here you wouldn't get much done would you. I hear we're not out of it yet. Good job on with the ethanol mix ;) Thanks for the confirmation on the fuel assembly and the kind words.
Genius idea upcycling the sugar bowl! Love that there is zero compromise to make the car essentially better than when it came out of the factory. Keep it up George 😎

Wonderful work sir. I have owned W123 a coupe since 2009 and spent many hours learning my way around the car and have recently replaced it with an identical car that was restored professionally on 2012 which I have been through with a fine toothcomb. My only suggestion is AQUASTEEL as a rust converter as i have tried many and spent hundreds but aquasteel is the real deal. Used in the shipping industry and doubles up a s primer for whatever you want to use a finish (POR15 etc). I have also learnt that when you take anything off the car from brake pipe holders to shocks or bumpers, its best to replace all the bolts and screws with stainless as this makes any further work a doddle done the line. Love the stop frame work and I am a photographer an commend you on your lighting. Fabulous work
Thank you for this video. I am currently restorating a w123 300D 1979 and love your videos. at 3:35 I used an Adblue socket to remove this strainer. It has a flat socket side so you wont spin. 9:10 ep90 is fine I use 75w90 also fine.
Best video I have seen on a topic like this. No self-promoting bullshit; beautiful stop motion shots well choreographed and voiced by the most suitable and satisfying voice over possible. It takes abnout 20 seconds to get used to that accent and then you are just mesmerized into watching, absorbing, and learning whatever the video is talking about. I say that in this way because the viewer could be the least interested in this topic, but it is so damn well made, that even someone not interested in replacing old Mercedes plumbing, or why it needs to be replaced, or worse: why the hell does it matter to them in the first place, will all take a seat and get glued to the screen and come out learning something they had never thought they'd learn. All due to this magical presentation. Kudos, man. This is (again) the best made video I have seen. Bravo! I have subscribed, and I will be coming back often!
It's getting there, George. Slowly but surely! I hear you about the electrolytic corrosion! The doors on the JK Wrangler are mild steel with aluminium hinges. They used to just assemble them, then prime & paint, but any gap or later damage & you start getting corrosion. And there is a point near the pivot that gets almost no primer, let alone paint... Latter models have a rubber gasket from the factory there as the paint over the hinges blisters & comes off from the corrosion. I pulled mine off last year, (when I switched to tube doors for the summer), and cleaned, primed & painted _all_ the surfaces, (door & hinges), before reassembling them. Should be all good now! Next up are the front uni joints, as they are cactus, (again). They arrived yesterday so maybe this weekend! But I do want to clean up the axles, & give them and the new unis some paint to prevent further surface rust, so time might not be on my side, since it's also my daily driver...
Sounds like a good fix on the doors. Mother nature will find a way to start taking everything back eventually. Take me back to the Lotus, it's about 85% Ireland proof ;) Good luck with the joints!

I found your channel and was inspired to begin working on my own 300D w123. love your camera work
Glad to hear it, thanks and stick with it :)
Thank you for this video. I am currently restorating a w123 300D 1979 and love your videos. at 3:35 I used an Adblue socket to remove this strainer. It has a flat socket side so you wont spin. 9:10 ep90 is fine I use 75w90 also fine.
yay another freaking awesome vid from soup
🤘🏼😖
In the very words of the one and only Sir Billie Connolly ... “ahhh the wonderful madness of the man who works alone ...”
God Bless you, man. That's all I can say. I am speechless.
Thank you 🍻
I'm lovin' this part refurbishing.
Your hard work will be paid!
SOUP! Put the patreon link in the discription!
Great stuff as usual!
thanks man, I'm my own worst enemy
Really liking these videos, It's giving me the motivation to attack my Capri in the Garage.
Hope you're getting on ok, thanks a mill :)
Mad respect, Bro. Seriously well done stuff. Reminds me of Allen DeCadena and Victory by Design in the 90’s. You will be famous for this.
Another great video. The time lapse video/photography is fantastic as usual. Keep up the good work 👍.
Fantastic work, brilliant detail, will help with my W201
Genius stopmotion.. it's like watching Wallace & gromit without the anthropomorphized claymation
