I just had the impulse to make this Destiny 2 video about my experience and share my thoughts.
This is my perspective on my experience up to this point with Destiny 2.
#destiny2 #destiny #destiny2gameplay #gaming
** Just to clarify because some people have commented on this, I watched and reacted to the vaulted campaigns before starting to play Destiny 2.** This is as undoubtedly the best decision.
Share your thoughts please on Destiny 2.
Do you play the game how you want or listen to everyone else even if that means you hate the game in the current state? Are you newer and having a good time making friends? Thanks for watching.

cant wait to do the campaign bro
It’s a great game that has been managed poorly. I still play and have about 2.5k hours now. Have a kid now so I’ve been cutting back. I usually just pvp now and occasionally keep up with the PVE for progression purposes. It’s still an amazing game all in all, welcome to all new players :)
I think the people who play this game play it casually.
I don't think they have all their load out slots filled. I don't think they agonize over their guardian's transmog like me.
For me, any time I get bored with the gameplay, I swap to a build that plays differently and I'm rejuvenated. I don't think; "another chore to grind" I think; "Yippee! I get to show off my cool builds, looks, finishers and emotes!" I like the expression the game allows. No two guardians are the same.
Except blacked-out hunters. Blacked out hunters are all the same.
And people that just throw on the last thing they earned...without using a shader!
I am a casual player but have played since D1 came out. It is a love hate relationship I have for sure. Usually play alone or my wife joins me because we are not in a clan. IMO Final Shape was a tough act to follow then add to that all the lay offs at Bungie then subsequent bugginess with the recent events that is a recipe for disaster
The people complaining are just whining, they do this every year, it never stops
doesn't wanna bake cookies.. wants PvP to get more focus.. you are truly NOW a Destiny player...you have become LEGEND!!
one of us.. one of us.. one of us.. 😆
I don’t though, like I just don’t. I don’t have a reason to sign in daily. My focus is on story, dungeons, etc. I plan my week to play those, but I don’t want to sign in to bake or collect candy. The game is deep so the seasonal stuff could also have depth. Just my opinion.
@@dpatriot4130 i get it. those are things that have always had cycle of repeating for those that play longterm. it's jus born of a want for more substantial activities. some of the event weapons are good, but it doesn't take the place of actual narrative missions.
i usually jus let the event things work passively as i do other stuff, be it bounties or strikes, for mats & glimmer & XP.
you still got Witch Queen to come, so you've plenty of story ahead. good story too, the best IMO
I'm not trying to be negative tbh, but people just don't show up for pvp anymore to put funds into it. They took too long to address cheaters etc.
"Pvp" is a trash cheaters hole! Xim, zym, aimbots, wh! And bungie doesn't give a fk! 🤡
ruclips.net/video/MMKd7ZW_ub8/видео.htmlsi=-abqTPVTdbJHmkQD@@dpatriot4130
Ive played every week since the beginning of destiny 1 and this conversation about the game happens every year. I just ignor the negativity and enjoy the game.
Same right here. I've played since the Destiny alpha and have thousands of hours between both games... I still log on almost every week to play because it's STILL fun as hell. There is absolutely nothing wrong with "lighter" seasons like the one we're in, as it lets me take a break to play other games for a while. That's how literally every live-service game works. There will be periods of tons of activity and new things, and droughts between content drops. There will be strong expansions and weak expansions. There will be fun events and lame events. At this point, the only real thing Bungie needs to focus on aside from the upcoming content is the new player experience. Bring back Red War and stop vaulting content that new players want to play through.
i get what you're saying and i agree. however, it's been getting worse and worse every year
This ☝️
Same here agree
Let’s be honest here this thing have gotten bad, there was always something in the background but this current tango is something else
Mostly everyone who is upset now is part of the 20,000 players that still remain, so before anyone says "just leave and play a different game" don't worry, we have, and we've been gone since TFS launch, if not earlier. The D2 community is experiencing half-life degradation. 20,000 today, 10,000 later, until "poof" and now it's gone.
Brother, steam is not the whole population. Its one of the smallest and not even the only one on PC
@Luckydave123 Fair, but the 20,000 on Steam is just a microcosm of the D2 community as a whole. When Steam numbers are low, so are console numbers. The point being, D2 is held together by a fringe player base, and this is perhaps the second lowest point in Destiny history, if not first, only beaten by Curse.
One thing for me that killed the fun of Destiny for me is minus power/power disabled. I get some people have said increasing difficulty adds new stuff and whatever, but when the system that worked perfectly fine since D1 gets basically turned off or puts you at a permanent disadvantage, I feel that is going to far. The point of the power system was to eventually get stronger than the activity like back in D1 where even the hardest raids were at 390 and you could still get to 10 power over. Now everything in D2 is either no getting stronger or minus 5 to 25 power so you not only deal less damage, but take more damage too. Like how is it fair to have max resilience, 3 void resistance mods, and standing in old Well of Radiance, but an orange bar (not even a yellow bar) Scorn Crossbow is allowed to insta-kill you? How is that considered fair in any way? That would be the same as saying the glitched Thrashers were balanced, or saying that the dark blade copies doing a single slam and insta-killing you there is fine. It isn't and that is what takes away fun for me in games.
Yeah it's hard to relate to the veteran complaints until you get probably multiple hundreds of hours in. Destiny 2 is a fantastic game as a whole and that's undeniable. The haters are truly just fans that are upset the franchise didn't become the X, Y or Z that they wanted it to be.
More so frustrated Bungie wants us to pay $100 for a year of content, to Then only release about 2 months worth of content and tell us to go play another game the other 10 months. Saying it's just the vets complaints isn't accurate everyone that gets through the expansions comes to the same conclusion. The core game modes are neglected, the seasonal and holiday content are garbage, it's so expensive to be so little content.
the thing you have to realize is... youre enjoying content that was created a long time ago. Sure its great. it was for us too. There hasnt been jack shit like that in forever. and the leadership is hamstringing the ppl who could make great content for us.
Dude The final Shape was last year and it was great.
@@misaelgtorres It was not, the story was nonsense. Prismatic is kinda meh. What else was there ? I wish Cayde would have whacked crow! Not my Hunter Vanguard. I quit shortly after the disaster of the first episode. Zavala was stupid, and I hated him for his bullcrap. We did his exact story arc in season of the haunted, and then we had to do it a second time in final shape. And then we beat megamind in the worst final mission there ever was.
I’m a 10 year player. And I still remember when destiny made me feel this way. That feeling of waking up and just can’t wait to turn it on and start the grind. I lived for that feeling. I still love this game and I still enjoy playing but as a veteran player with every piece of content completed and every gun collected it just gets stale sometimes. The new exotic mission is ok but it’s no classic.
I honestly think that a lot of players don’t think for themselves and just repeat the same sentiment that others are saying. So you get this upwelling of negativity. And do you know how many times I’ve heard Destiny is dying? At least twice a year for the past 8 years. 😂
For real! Great words bro👏🏽
Love this!
The Destiny 2 players that are over the game should just peace the fuck out, honestly. There are still many of us having fun with the game and letting Bungie know the improvements they need to make to bring in players and retain the players that are starting to get tired of the bugs and half measure updates. There's always room for improvement and feedback in all aspects of life, but I swear to god, these people who go around and laugh react and shit on this game on the daily spend more time doing that than playing an alternative game. It's exhausting.
The ones who are over it have left(such as myself. The last I played was like a week when the final shape came out. The ones who remain and still play the game but are complaining about it are those who love(or certainly at least loved the game and the world at one point) who want it to be better than it is currently, because they've seen how great it has been before(I used to be among this group before I just decided to cut my losses and leave after a few years of this. Destiny 2 is a great game in a lot of ways, but over the years, through poor management choices, it has become a shadow of what it could be. It's not even really that the game has gotten worse, but more so that people recognized its potential and see it failing to live up to that potential as a tragedy, especially when it comes to something that they love and care about. It's not hate or dislike. it's frustration borne from a desire for a good game and a fantastic world failing to be one of the greatest games of all time.
The problem is bungie doesn't listen to the players.
Bungie literally said they don’t care about their community lmao Destiny has been falling apart thank god I quit months ago. Shit had me in a choke hold
They have hence lowest ever player numbers lol
This brain dead response lol. Without us your game will die. It IS dying right now.
I just want my crafting back. Loved the idea and how it teeters to those that don't have the time to farm out the game for 24hrs a day like Khakis, Aztercross or even sweatcicle.
Us jaded players are enjoying watching you play; it reminds us of when we were in the same spot - when we were enchanted by this game. That's why I'm watching - trying to recapture my love for the game. Don't stop; keep going. You are inspiring more than you might know.
It might be an unpopular opinion right now among the so-called community; but I have to say my piece. I LOVE THIS GAME. I am at nearly 2000 hours playing it, and that’s at a (mostly) casual player (couple hours in the evening and a bit more on weekends), and play it to escape and decompress from my epically stressful actual job. Can the grind get brutal sometimes? Yes. Can that be difficult for a casual, solo player? Absolutely. Being 58 years old, can the themes around some of the annual events seem kind of silly? 100%. But in the end, I absolutely love the game and the pretend worlds that it carries me to and when I do finish something I get a wonderful sense of accomplishment. If I get overly sick of a grind, then I give it up and move on to something else in the game. In the end, it’s just that: A GAME. The survival of the free world, and my personal worth as a human being is not dependent on a video game! Enjoy this stunning game for what it is, and stop trying to define your lives on what it isn’t. If you’re that damn unhappy with life because of a VIDEO GAME, then perhaps you need to reorient your life to something else. And if I eventually reach the point that I'm just too tired of it, I'll simply find something else and move on. Quit all this bullshit of defining everything in the world for what it isn’t, and start loving things for what they are
Oh man, so much this! I 100% agree.
I totally agree, I'm 52yrs old and still enjoy this game for the past 7yrs. I've done almost everything in the game and mostly solo, I may not have completed them solo like the new exotic mission in expert but I tried. I am though a x13 Conqueror which I'm proud of. I'm not happy of all the things they do (special events), find it kind of boring. I've obtained almost all the exotic weapons (missing some dungeon exotics). My clan is pretty dead as about 90% were complaining on a daily basis, so much negativity. Told them straight out, just stop playing, that's it.
Facts👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽💯
@@tabitha2706 very well said. I appreciate you sharing your perspective 🙏
Agreed.
This is those crabs, who throwing orbs to shielded ads 20times 🤡👍
I'm always happy to see people still enjoying this game. I used to too. My problem (this is just me, OK) is that I've become bored to the grind. I used to enjoy grinding for a god-roll this-or-that weapon/armor in a Grandmaster or raid. I've simply lost the desire to do so and really don't enjoy the activities (seasonal) anymore. I might run them a few times and never touch them again. I ran the new exotic mission for the shotgun, and I really don't have the desire to touch it again! Seraph Shield was peak exotic mission for me! That's how you do a mission: regular and legend can be done solo by most players, good environment, fun puzzles, and an exciting boss room! Anyway, this is the end of the road for me. No Frontiers, no more Destiny.
They've decided the best thing to do is ignore us as usual and put all the money we spent into a game nobody asked for.
This right here. Fuck Marathon.
Found you last night, subscribed and liked. Then was pleasantly surprised when @BradleytheBradster viewed this clip in his stream on Twitch today. Love seeing the new lights being passionate early in their Guardian careers. Bungie needs feedback from all of us. I’ve played since D1 Alpha and want new players to enjoy. So good luck, keep up the content. Eyes up…
@@MayorofBurbank1 I’ve heard lol thank you so much! 🙏
Watched the react on BradleytheBradster's twitch stream just now. Loved your viewpoint. Keep having fun brother!
@@A1CJAV oh boy lol thank you 🙏
From one 40 yr old dad with two kids to another. This game is awesome!!!! Bungie has been developing the mechanics of this game for 25 plus years. No other game feels or plays like destiny. People need to get over their shit. This game isn't going to be around forever. Just enjoy the ride.
The only problem I have with players, is when they compare eververse to other games, that are pay to win. You do not have to buy anything from eververse to play the game. You can earn bright dust playing the game, you can use that to buy stuff for free. Yes you have to pay the 12 bucks to get the season, and the season rewards you with bright dust. The artifact after you get your 12 points, you start getting eveverse engram, more free stuff. Eververse is there, but no one is forcing you to buy anything with real money. The rant about everything else, Im fine with. Yes PvP needs more, Gambit needs WAY more, there just needs to be MORE, but not for more money. And yes, I would love if the Red war was back in the game, as well as Forsaken and the other planets. I really miss Titan being a playable area.
You got it wrong, theyre complaing because bungie has the audacity to make shit looking armor for pve and pvp and also not give annual strikes/crucible/gambit armor and instead make a ton of eververse stuff, when you fuck your players like that, good riddance hope you go bankrupt. Also dont forget that you cant progress old season passes so that they can put that armor in eververse, even if you bought it but did not complete it cause the state of the game at that time was also pathetic
Luuuv witchqueen, hope u get there soon😊, started destiny just before witchqueen came out. Got 4500 hours and i work lol. But yea, you are right abot so many things.{from south africa buddi}
That’s a whole lot of hours 😳 just sharing my perspective. I’m having a great time with the campaigns and dungeons
You are in the honeymoon period with the game, we are in the divorce period. They just sold our car out from under us, threw our PC out the window before we could move it, and now they want the kids. That's the whole difference, both opinions are valid I guess? Statistically, the game is in the worst state it's ever been in, losing resources as fast as players, no clear vision for the future and no reason to log in. Glad you are enjoying it still!
Absolutely this. Veteran here, playing since battlenet, over 7k hrs. behind!
Well they didn't steal our car per say but they did steal our campaigns and Pete bought himself some cars.
First of all I just wanted to say that it's great to hear a newer player's perspective on the Destiny 2 situation and I agree with many of your points! I am a returning player that came back shortly before the Final Shape and quit just before Beyond Light.
I echo your sentiment that dungeons are fun as hell and provide some of the best content the game has to offer. When content like this drops it's some of the best the game has to offer and Bungie should be praised for it. Though, I think the Dungeon experience could be improved a few ways. First, I think we need more difficulties and different mechanics that appear based on difficulty. Second, at a minimum, dungeons should drop 1 armor, 1 weapon per encounter. Third, we need to encourage engagement and mastery of the dungeon. The triumph tab increases exotic drop chance but does nothing to our legendary drops. I think we should get double or triple perk drops from completing triumphs. Alternatively a reputation system for dungeons could take the place of triumphs. Anything that encourages engagement and respects players time would be nice because... lastly we need to discourage checkpoint farming. It's really shameful that the best way to get loot from dungeons is checkpoint farming. Why not reward full clears somehow?
But you're right. The seasonal slop needs to go. I wouldn't care if I never played the coil, enigma protocol or tomb of elders again. These are really lame activities that I could do without. We need more focus on high quality content with some replayability and perhaps evolution over time. Destiny has an identity crisis and doesn't know who it wants to cater to. The story is so broken up by vaulted seasonal content and campaigns that I don't even know how I could follow what's going on without watching some lore guy. As a returning player I was confused as to why Mythrax - the guy who seemed so normal during the final shape - was all of a sudden cursed.
Overall, I enjoy mastering the content that is here. I enjoy going for solo flawless, faster times and achievements. I love trying new builds and I believe that's when Destiny is at it's best.
My biggest gripe with the game right now is the bugs. As someone who likes to solo GM strikes I avoid anything cabal related right now. Why? Because I don't want to deal with the teleportation issues cabal have. It isn't just cabal either but they're the biggest offenders. It's insane.
A lot of old players are just frustrated with how slow updates are and how seemingly basic quality of life updates are just glossed over. Like, why can't we just have a shader search function? Why can I still not see all my buffs? So many player requests ignored and we get buggy seasonal slop instead.
Sandbox changes are slow as molasses too. Like it just baffles me that stasis subclasses had to be total ass for so long for them to get any attention from Bungie. I would say they still suck and will return to irrelevance once this seasonal artifact is gone. How long is prismatic going to be the default choice for 85% of relevant endgame builds before the sandbox gets shaken up?
On the topic of sandbox changes I have a personal gripe. Self explosive damage needs to be addressed in PVE. I understand why it exists but I think if I'm using a grenade launcher the self damage should not be instantly fatal. I have been killed by my GL clipping the stupidest shit: my own Helion, speaker's sight healing projectiles, ammo bricks, enemy projectiles, nova bomb, and random shards of stasis ice from an exploded crystal. It just leads to so many wtf moments and it needs to be addressed sooner rather than later. Nova bomb briefing teammates has been a concern for years and who knows when or of it will ever be addressed.
*sigh*
Destiny is a great game overall. I am still having fun withbit. It just needs to figure out what it wants to be and be more responsive to player feedback. Also, as you point out the price without a sale is absurd.
Came here from BradleytheBradster on twitch. Great video man. I appreciate the fact that you repect and value the perspective of veteran players.
The veterans are the heart and soul
the sad thing about destiny lore is that most of it is hidden in lore books, so if you not one to read huge swaths of text and want a more comprehensive dive into destiny lore my two favorite sources are "my name is byf" and "myelin games" when it comes to lore i would consider these two actual historians for destiny... also as someone coming back to the game after a long hiatus i too am having a great time in the game and its campaigns, new subclasses, and dungeons, and i will agree again on the tonics hate, its added busy work for something they could do for free, oh you want to promote these particular weapons tie them to a specific game mode boom no need for tonic focusing....
Good stuff man! Came from Bradley's chat. Great community for newbies. sub'd
I’m sure that was interesting lol thank you!
I’ve been playing the game since D1 and I’m enjoying it what I don’t enjoy is the constant complaining from other people that are bored with the game from my old player to a new player, I totally agree with everything you’re saying though glad you enjoyed the game
I'm glad that you pulled over first.:)
lol almost didn’t
I have a love and hate relationship with Destiny 2. The game has amazing fundamentals and foundation. However, the upper management are arrogant, and ignore their own staff's desire to improve the game. Currently there is a bug called Guitar that kicks you out to orbit randomly, and you lose progress. This has happened multiple times to me. So personally, I have had my fun, and I want to have more fun, but I want to wait it out until Destiny 2 becomes better in terms of bugs and crafting. I am happy you and your buddy are enjoying the game though.
As a veteran player. This is a conversation that happens every year bro. Just have fun my man
Never in my life would i have expected a Destiny 2 in-car rant. I mean respect and agreed for sure but damn shit must be serious out here.
“They see me rolling”….
BradleyTheBradster watched your video on stream. Great take on the state of destiny. Ive been playing since launch, still love the game. Just ignore the negative noise and enjoy the game.
Thank you! 🙏
What sucks is the events you are talking about (Festival of the Lost + The Dawning) USED to actual be pretty cool.
In D1, the Dawning had SRL (Sparrow Racing League) and Daybreak strikes in Year 3, with new exotic weapon variants of Thunderlord.
In Year 2-3 of Destiny 2, Festival of the Lost had The Haunted Forrest, which was a cool use of the procedurally generated Infinite Forest from Curse of Osiris.
The cookies and candy BS would actually be fun if they were tied to these activities, but now the Dawning literally has ZERO activity tied to it and Haunted Lost Sectors are just slightly different versions of Lost Sectors, which is pretty boring…
I wish the events we get actually had unique activities. Hell, the ONLY PvP even we had was Crimson Days (for Valentines Day) and they too that away too… which makes no sense because it was just Doubles, and there is no way Bungie can justify that it took any dev time to keep that event going.
It’s just sad because these events WERE fun in the past and it could really boost player engagement if they just brought back what they already made!
On PVP, I agree with you they should focus on it. Yet, did you know, that ever since they left PVP out of the campaign packs, that would mean PVP has no $$$ incentive. Meaning, they had no reason to work on PVP, because it was essentially just free-to-play. That's why you didn't see any PVP focus lately. They don't have a permanent PVP team either.
I too am 40, and I'm gonna play the hell out of Destiny Rising between content drops for Destiny 2 - especially if there's a PC launcher for it! Destiny rocks, and more Destiny is not a bad thing at all. It just gives everyone more options to choose how and when they want to play the best sci-fi shooter out there.
You’re so old lol 😎 love your take. Very well said
A quick note on monetization: if you think a paid cosmetic item isn't worth it, then that doesn't mean Bungie is doing a bad job, it just means you're not the target audience. I didn't play the crappy, bugged winter event at all, but I immediately bought the set of Strand armor because I am happy to continue supporting the game for the content that I do enjoy. Also, that armor set is one of the coolest I've seen offered in the store in the past year or more and I'm a big Destiny Fashion™guy. But there's also nothing wrong with someone scoffing at a paid armor set after all the bugged out content we've seen and refuse to purchase it. Different strokes and all that!
The exotic mission that just came out isn’t that bad. I kinda enjoyed it. With that said it is tiresome to run it multiple times.
🫡
My only issue with the exotic mission is that it’s locked behind that awful tonics, acts garbage. If we silently play this crap Bungie will keep giving us this crap as future content. And then locking another exotic behind their terrible excuse for content.
I got flamed last time for saying that I put my controller down when I saw the next quest step during a reset to run the last exotic mission again. I couldn’t be bothered with the platforming again
My main problem with the latest exotic missions is that they are directly tied to the acts story! I don't mind running it once but four times to complete the acts story line is not fun...
@@happystate2480now that I agree with. Making the exotic mission linked to the story instead of making it its own separate thing is lazy as fuck and cutting corners.
Raids, Dungeons and Exotic Missions is what sets this game apart from everything else combined with the ability and gun play
It’s great to hear a new honest player like you. The game is really good but it seems like Bungie and the veteran players just want it to die.
You're a legend, firstly, I've been following your destiny journey through your videos, looking forward to playing with you sometime
And secondly, having your opinion from a not so hardcore player is always enriching
Glad to watch you play and I hope you keep having fun!
🫡🙏
Ah, you've come to that time of the year when the game is at the downward cycle before it starts picking up again before the next DLC. This happens every. Single. Year. The doomposting gets louder and a little worse every time but it's more of the same every year.
It was never been so bad,and the problem is there will be no big new DLC´s not as before. Some small DLC´s wouldn´t help much !
The cookies/candy/grindy bullshit can get annoying; however, I do appreciate them being available because grinding the bounties for those allowed me to get enough bright dust to buy the event armor without spending $$.
Good point
The only people who hate it are the ones who have done literally everything there is to do and they are bored. They need to play something else for a while. I took a break for a year or so and when i came back i had so much fun again
Bradley the bradster shared your vid w his twitch stream. Loving your take on things. Come and say hi!
I heard lol thank you!
Definitely the biggest problem is how much the same almost all of the game is compared to even many years ago. The only substantial changes have been with sandbox and balance changes of players and enemies, next to none with gameplay and activities. The cookies and candy holiday events have been exactly the same (albeit a bit more streamlined) for at least 5 years, if not longer. People were kind of bored the 3rd time those events came around, so now that we're on the 6th the consensus has changed from boredom to outright anger at the recycled content. Same with the activities we play. Dungeons and raids are great, and the main expansion campaigns are solid, but there are huge, month long droughts between them where there's next to no enjoyment for a multi-year veteran to find any enjoyment. The 3 "Core Playlists" of strikes, pvp, and gambit, have been more or less the same for 5 years, and people only really do them when they have to for quests or something. The current seasonal/episode model has been the exact same for 4-5 years (some timegated story, 1-2 matchmade activities, do the activities to get new seasonal currency to upgrade the seasonal vendor, repeat, maybe at the end do a new exotic mission or something). Again, people were talking about needing to change up the content cycle of seasons at least 2+ years ago, and again the previous boredom has changed to anger because the game STILL feels almost exactly the same as though Bungie just outright refuses to make any real changes.
Bungie still gets good points for Raids, Dungeons, and the yearly campaigns, but the game has become extremely boom or bust where as soon as those high moments are over players run for the hills because they don't want to keep paying to play recycled content for 5 years, and the game becomes a ghost town until the next release. It's not that unusual of a lifecycle for a game, but Destiny 2's peaks and valleys are VERY pronounced, which is where the dead game talk comes from.
Great take
Us long time players who complain about the game KNOW what Destiny can be. Those of us who still play after all these years don’t want this game to die or fade off. It just seems like they left this game in the hands of people who just don’t understand Destiny or who just simply stop caring. Bungie wants to move on to other projects, but we are telling them we don’t want other projects, we just want to our space adventure game.
Are you kidding me ? Destiny before witchqueen had no real campaigns, sometimes worse campaign and less Story then we get in seasons, barely any exotic missions, stale metas, bad abilities.. stop nostalgia baiting
You hit the core of it for many people, maybe most. It’s not that the game is bad. Quite the opposite. People want to play, but it can be hard for some to do so when they’re mourning the loss of campaigns. It’s hard to invest in a season and activity that you know is temporary. Plus it’s hard to get new players invested with our lack of good starting point.
Some of us stay for the love of what remains, inhaling copium and wishing for a better future.
My personal opinion is that “simply” giving us all of the game that was taken away needs to be prioritized over adding more. And the temporary content model needs to be abandoned.
Ok. My mini rant is over 😸
Great take, LK 🫡
Problem is old Hardware like ps4 and xbox one having too little storage. The game now is over 100 GB, with all the content over the years addad it would be 300-400 GB, so many people wouldnt even be able to play the game considering most destiny players are console players and most of those are on xbox one and ps4 still. And game stability is also a problem because right before the DCV and sunsetting in beyond light, so during season of arrivals, the game was barely working and Fell apart before our very eyes with huge Bugs and issues, because it was not build to last this long. The cancellation of d3 and also the refusal of the destiny playerbase for bungie to Release a d3 that also played into the decision to cancel d3 led to todays situation. D2 was build to last 2-3 years not 7
I've got over 3,000 hours in D2 and have been hearing the whole "the game is dying" rhetoric for most of that time, I think. I still love the game. I don't mind the events, but I have no problem just ignoring the stuff I don't want to do, either. I also don't play daily anymore -- I don't have that kind of time, and if I'm not enjoying it for whatever reason, I play something else until I want to come back. I'm so weary of the constant stream of negativity (not speaking about this video, which seems quite balanced) that I've started avoiding most content unless it's giving me information - builds, or lore, or how to complete something I'm stuck on etc. - or at least looks like it isn't just more "why you shouldn't like Destiny."
As old time gamer from D1 to D2 i can respect that. Have fun gaming D2.
Bruh I’m 38 and what you just said in this video is exactly how feel about the game. I’ve been playing since the Beta. But like the honesty, the mind set about how one shouldn’t play and fuck the negativity. Positive vibes only plz haha. Subscribed!
The seasonal events are fun for long time players that are bored with the regular grind. I look forward to them because the armor, ships, and vehicles are so unique. Yes, they need to focus more on PVP, and getting new content that isn't the same same but diff but the same.
Right, although IMHO at least some of the seasonals used to be a little better. There was an element of skill in the nightmare Mercury maze on Halloween - how far can you go? Similar with the Solstice event where you needed to collect the maximum number of chests by knowing the route to take. It wasn't much but it was better than the current model. The baking cookies one is pretty "meh", and the candy collection in the same handful of lost sectors is just silly and doesn't fit the theme of the game. I think the cookie quest could be made more interesting if you had to discover the ingredient combination every time and if there was some skill/puzzle involved there.
Understood, well said
As many people have commented already; this is a song and dance that we go through every year... I will say this is probably the worst it's ever been. The seasonal content is not engaging AT ALL, the seasonal story has pretty much Kamikaze dive-bombed into the Mariana Trench and there's no longer enough of a player population to actively play the game. It's nearly impossible to find people doing the raid on xbox lfg...
But this just feels awful because seasonal content aside, this is the strongest the game's ever been. The last raids and dungeons have been excellent, the last campaign was top tier, and prismatic has forever changed the way we play the game. This combined with the weapon variety, and chases through red borders, dungeon and raid exotics, dungeon and onslaught weapons and exotic class items, have revitalized the game. I think the main issue is the fact they promoted the Final Shape as the game's endgame, and didn't lock killing the Witness behind the raid (don't get me wrong it's fantastic that you're able to load into a mission with a bunch of guardians and take him out) but it eliminates the chase for which many people delve into the raid in the first place...
E.g.
The Dark Below: We don't even see Crota in the campaign so we jump into the Raid to see him and beat him.
House of Wolves: Mara Handcuff's Skolas before we take him out, so he becomes the final encounter in POE
Taken king: We beat Oryx but we don't actually kill him, so we jump into the raid to finish the job.
Red War: What's up with the massive ship over Nessus?
Forsaken: What the hell is Riven? WHAT DO YOU MEAN SPACE DRAGON?
The list could go on for a while, but you get my point.
After players finished the expansion and beat the Witness, people just dropped the game. Some guys finished the episode got their raid seal, unlocked everything and called it a day. More casual players just finished the story and went to play something else. As for the rest of the player population? Well the news about thee layoffs, and the cavalcade of new and unresolved bugs as well as the whole "WEIGHT GATE" debacle definitely didn't help. This left us with the die-hard fans, the elitist players (raiders, sherpas, speed runners and trials gods), the casual audience and kinderguardians. Now that might sound like there's still quite the player base, which is kind of true... But the issue is that a lot of these groups don't meld with each other, or straight up don't want to... I miss when there where hundreds of LFG posts for every area of the game, or at least enough of a crucible population to not get curbed stomped by the same 4.0 six stack game after game.
The game needs new life and I'm glad there are more new players like you coming in and giving it a shot. I just hope the devs can get their **** together and that hopefully the next episode will be actually worthwhile. I just hope the story won't be the unsatisfying train wreck that the last two were...
I mean seriously! How do we go from Maya brainwashing Saint and wrecking the Multiverse to, OH yeah! I'm me and that feels good! While the bad guy just floats away down a river. Or after having freaking Fikrul come back with every single important eliksni character and boss, all while Mithrax is being possessed, just so that out of nowhere, Eramis, redeems herself cures Mithrax and just leaves... Like how did they drop the ball so bad, to redeem Stasis space Hitler, as if the last 4 years had not happened? I was promised a continuation to the Mithrax Eramis beatdown and we've been robbed FOR THE THIRD TIME!!! Like did they fire all the good writers too?
I miss the previous seasons... Like we had a terrible expansion last year with a bunch of top tier seasons and story. And every season ended with sooooo much potential! And the content was GOOD, I remember grinding every season last year and having a blast... Now it's just grind and without any actually descent weapons to chase.
So sorry about the text wall. I just miss the old days. Have a good day and keep having fun!
Fantastic take, don’t apologize! 🫡🙏
As someone who has played Destiny since the very beginning back in 2014 and has not taken a single break the entire time, with playing at least one play session a month for 10 years here's my take. I currently have 6,068 hours on steam for D2 and some on Playstation but I stopped playing on my console around 2021 so im not sure exactly how much. And I have no idea how many hours I have on the first game.
I loved hearing your opinion, the events with cookies and candies and yada yada used to be fun when they first came out years ago, the main issue is they dont change. I believe weve been doing candy since 2018... maybe 2017. Same with cookies and the solstice armor farming events. They need to swap things around each year to make it worth while.
And about your opinion on the seasonal stuff being repetitive I 100% agree, BUT they have said things are changing drastically in 2025, that being once the 3rd episode ends which is around june/july of this year. We will get a new expansion and the way we get updates after that will be very different with 3 or so mini/medium sized DLC's a year instead of our 1 DLC and 3-4 seasons/episodes.
This game has A LOT to offer, its just for people like me I have done... everything, and that's not an exaggeration, and people like you/even newer players there's soooo much to look at and do its just its either overwhelming for some or gets very boring due to how recycled/repetitive many things are. Sadly i have gotten used to it, I also LOVE this franchise so much, like I said I've never taken a break and I fully intend on playing this game till its completely finished and the servers get shut off for good or I die lol.
IK my comment isn't too impactful I just wanted to share my pov as a long time vet with yours, have a good day DPatriot.
Amazing comment. Well said!
Been a Destiny player since D1. Bungie just announced that Pete Parsons isn’t going anywhere….this game and company are COOKED. They refuse to listen to us, any “fixes” they implement break 30 other things in the game, the story is whack, monetization is all they seem to care about…..AND TO TOP IT ALL OFF, they’re taking time, money and talent away from fixing the cash cow they already have, to work on two other games that are going to flop. I’m done with Destiny, bro
They have so much vaulted content (with 18 legacy triumphs) that would bring people back. The worlds/locations that would return. I would LOVE to be able to go back and replay d2 in its entirety.
Heck, make the vaulted content a stand-alone game (which is what they should have done), like d1 is now. We didn't/don't need updates to it, just be able to play through the story and all the challenging triumphs.
As for the new time locked and lv200 limited sesson pass/episodes bs ... why? I used to enjoy seeing just how high I could get it each season.
Glad you are enjoying it.
Some of us are legacy players are so demoralised and angry that bungie has twisted and gutted the game we love.
Could they at least try to make the holiday events fun? I mean if I have to see, baking cookies or haunted sectors one more time I’m going to pull my hair out.
lol
The amount of airtime to being frustrated with limited events on baking cookies and collecting candy (due to them being seasonal) is a bit of a weird take. You'd soon be moaning if the devs did nothing during those periods.
You're right about one thing though - players need to stop no lifing the game. If you're bored go play Path of Exile or Indiana Jones The Great Circle. And then come back with it feeling fresh.
My irk with gamers these days is they all want free games -- gaming is a business -- you have to respect that.
Hope you didn’t choose Hunter
90h ? Oh, wow, that's not a lot. When I was new I felt the same way like you did and then after 1700h. I don't anymore. You will get there eventually. Bungie did it to all of us.
Are Bungie not aware that the game is played by adults and not preteens?
The thing about destiny 2 now is that now the actual studio that makes the game is crumbling falling apart without the right amount of staff the correct staff no quality control well the CEO buys a bunch of freaking cars stuffing his pockets with PlayStation money while he sells out everyone else so the negativity in my mind is apt.
As a veteran player, it sucks for new players that they will never get to experience the grind of Mars for Wayfarer or obtaining sleeper simulant the old school way. And yeah fuck them cookies and tonics. I will not play that shit.
I love the game like anyone else. But I agree that the busy work needs to leave the game. If I really wanted to do busy work, I'd make sure I get paid to do it. Busy work isn't a good thing for any game. It shows that the devs are straight up uninspired, currently. It also seems counterintuitive to take away essential content, like the red war, and replace important stuff with unimportant busy work. If they're worried about the game being too big, then don't fill in the empty spaces of a good thing with a bunch of trash, especially when the essentials we already paid for were in the game, until you removed them. I hate being un able to recommend my favorite games to people because the devs ruin the experience by overpricing content they've foolishly downgraded for truly no good reason.
Play what you enjoy! I have enjoyed the game since day one of D1. When I feel fatigued by it, I take healthy time out from it for awhile. As such I still enjoy playing it. I wish haters could just not play and let those who enjoy it still enjoy it.
I loved destiny 1 and I love destiny 2 and I’m never leaving or never letting it go
It would be nice if all the campaigns were still there to play. It's never been a make or break thing for me. The ONLY thing that often gets me fired up is that for all content that remains in the game, seasons/expansions always had at least 1, or sometimes multiple, 3-6 player activities specific to the underlying story that was happening. Some of these things I REALLY liked doing. A LOT. When these seasons end, these activities disappear forever. The worst offender was a Dreaming City activity leading into Witch Queen that was live for 3 days, and you could only do it once per character (I think). Never been seen since, and story-wise was pretty dang important. Dozens of things at the HELM. FISHING, for crying out loud. Gone forever. I still play all the time. I have thousands of hours. I love to play. I think these things are the worst offense, but life goes on!!!
You don’t really need to do things like the new year and halloween events. They are more there to give veteran players something to do.
Glad you’re enjoying it! I’m enjoying watching you experience it for the first time. My friend and I love it because it is a fantastic co-op experience.
Great comment! Thank you. I got my buddy to play and it’s so much more fun.
Why do I feel like I'm the only one that like magical potions (tonics) in the game... fits the world (magic) and let's you focus on stuff or get glimmer when your low. I know I'll farm glimmer tonics ingredients in the future if I can
Hey, I really liked you video and I am happy you are enjoying the game! When people talk about destiny 2, they usually lean towards overly negative (for a few justified reasons), and you don't hear about what the game does well. The best content (raids, dungeons, and campaigns) in the game is post beyond light, so I'm excited to hear what you think of it! To touch on your main point of events sucking in destiny, and how they should remove them from the game. I agree the events add additional confusion to a new players experience, and they are kind of lame in what you are doing. Aka baking cookies and making candies. In my opinion events exist as an additional side thing for long time players/ mid tier players to earn extra rewards. In this respect the events serve as a good time to farm additional drops on weapons, and event specific rewards (aka dawning, and lost weapons). However Bungie kind of shoves them in your face when they are active, and I can def see why it would be frustrating and confusing for a new player. There is A LOT more to talk about in regards to system reworks in destiny 2. But to keep this comment from reaching 1000+ words. Events are decent, and shouldn't be removed. They just don't need to be shoved in the face of new players so frequently.
Thank you and I really appreciate you sharing your perspective!
I still love this game and if you are a new player I’m so jealous - u have some much great content to play
The exotic mission wasn’t that bad, not great but not bad. The only issue I’d say I have is having g to run it so many times just for materials to make tonics. Which is a system that I already don’t care for. The game is fine just don’t like having to repeat the same thing over and over to achieve a minor goal.
I agree about your points made beginning at 3:10. I LOATHE the grind for seasonal gear. Just let me play the game the way i want; there are hardly any of us left. 😂
Bungie needs to take some notes from warframe fr. I also feel like all of destiny1 needs to be integrated into destiny2 and for the love of God add back the d2 stories! Make the game complete, let people create there own crucible maps like forged in Halo, bring back strike specific loot, and get rid of the seasonal model. Literally most of the games problems would be fixed right there, and before anyone comments yes they can do all of this I mean hell fortnight🤢 can have updates almost every week with new content all the time just like COD so there are no excuses, it's lazy money hungry Inconsiderate people that work at bungie that refuse to do anything about it. They are siphoning the money They could be using for destiny2 And dumping it Into marathon which is absolutely destroying the best thing they got which IS destiny2.
If you don't like the game anymore , just leave and let the game die organically. There seems to be this mindset that if im not having fun, nobody els should. Im gonna go out of my way to shit talk and poke holes in the boat so that everybody els has no choice but to jump with me.
"You wanna chaaage me $20 for a skin?!" 😂
Accent came out real thick real quick! Haha
😳😳
One of the main reasons I haven’t been super pissy is because as soon as we knew 40% more employees would be laid off it was objectively clear bugs and glitches were on a delayed fast track to run wild.
Yes this happens all the time, both glitches and people crying about the game being dead. But this time does feel more real because of the wombo combo of the player counts + the layoffs.
Realistically, it doesn’t do the game any good to cope and lie to ourselves about everything being 100% up and up, but at the same time a lot of the blackpilling is way overblown as well.
We know bungee at least is making plans for the future. For instance, we know they’re already putting out voting on the next Halloween event.
I think you’re already announced major changes coming to the game.
Like I said, it doesn’t do the game any good to lie to ourselves but still.. there are changes coming to improve the state of the game. Will they succeed? I don’t know. But I’m curious to see and I’m willing to stick around until then.
True. Bungie should re-hire their Q+A. That should be their next step to actually improve the game.
@ that’s the thing.. with the Sony acquisition they have no say in that. Not that they would if they could…The reason for layoffs in the first place was out of financial desperation
Im a D1 OG and im having a blast.
i started with the D1 beta & played the living hell out of D1 when good loot was hard to get & people went crazy when that 1 thing dropped for them, IMO destiny started getting worse with the increase of loot drop rates & the seasonal model, now no bodys cares about drops because of crafting & seasons are just pointless hamster wheel grinds to keep you busy & havent bought 1 since 2021,i still enjoy the DLC content but thats it & i get this is coming from a player with 1000's of hours in game & nearly 1000 raid clears which is a narrow group of players but for me its catering towards "casual" players that was destinys downfall
the audiance has matured and i belive it would be good to up the rating from T-M i think if they had more lateral movement the game would grow the audiance is mature so mature the game
I think this is a major point right here. Player base is in fact maturing. I agree with this
@@dpatriot4130 thank you
I do agree with the tonics, bungie has a bad track record of over hyping systems in seasons/episodes like the tonics remind me of the cards from season of the witch which were so baked just like the tonics this season. The seasonal formula already got tiring like 2 years ago and I do hope Apollo and frontiers do away with them and we just get one story, sceptical tho since I might not even buy frontiers if they charge more then 20 bucks for it.
The events I remember being so excited for and ironicly the one I care about the least, guardian games was the one I liked the most and still it sucked since it was rigged, lost being the most underwhelming every year and dawning is kinda whatever since it doesn't force you into some activity. Solstice tho.... last solstice was so incredibly dogshit I almost gave up and uninstalled.
I agree as a PvE player, PvP needs attention since it is one of the true end games of destiny and them neglecting it has hurt the game alot even if you never touched. Also don't even get me started on bungie treatment of gambit.
Even with all that I still enjoy the game, granted a bit less nowadays but I still like to stick around and see where its going. Or at least watch the burning train crash if it comes to that eventually.
Really enjoyed reading this comment. Well said! 🫡🙏
Glad to hear since it looks like autocorrect absolutely murdered the grammar.
@@amemeforlife6983 mixing too many tonics and potions lol
This is nothing new. It's "died" like 10 times
I also will say they have been giving us many ways to earn bright dust in the game to earn Eververse stuff. Those holiday events give you an option to use in game currency or real money which I like.
People gotta seriously start voting with their wallets instead of just screaming into the void of the Internet. Bungie has received massive criticism with nearly every release since the game started, and they have made very little effectual change in the interest of the player...because people keep buying what they're selling! They won't actually take us seriously until they stop being rewarded for shoddy work.
But people have been doing that... Look at The Final Shape. Massive critical success, many argue best expansion, but they missed their sales target hugely if I am remember correctly. So, the numbers do go up and down, but the trend, on a whole, is on a decline until it just gets shut down.
Give it time
As a player with thousands of hours under this game I can see it from both sides, you’re right when you say the music is epic and the dungeons are awesome etc. I buy the soundtracks and listen to them outside of the game. It’s a shame you can’t play some of the best campaigns such as Rise of Iron and Red War. The game is incredible over all. Good luck with all the content you haven’t done yet.
Music is so good
Been playing for 10 years
And still loving it daily with my Fireteam of friends..!
It’s nice to hear a new player enjoying the experience. It’s become way to common to bash the game and what it offers.
(No one likes the candy and cookies We tolerate it.)
Again your opinion, I don't have a problem spending on money for skins. I'm not sure why people get so mad about spending money.
I’ve been playing Destiny for 10 years, my friends literally had to bribe me to play and once I came over, I haven’t stopped playing and I’m not going to until it’s dead dead. All these players that complain can easily stop playing and forget that Bungie and Destiny ever existed, but they keep coming back and letting all of it live rent free in their pea size brains. I’ve never seen so many people hate the game but follow every little piece of info on it and make sure they comment on how much it’s shit/garbage/waste of time it is, but there they are🤦🏻♀️.
I love Destiny and there isn’t a single game out there that has the gun play and movement that Destiny has, no one can deny that.
I’m not used to seeing Destiny 2 rants being filmed in a truck.
Ive been playing since D1 beta and as for seasonal content the most fun i had was when they had the sparrow league racing. They need to bring that back now that we have the hoover board.
Pvp is a love hate for me. I play it but i dont enjoy it. Theres too many factors at play that are against you, which is frustrating.
The probelm with the game is the lack of mystery in the story( compared to the past) and disjointed content. Those of us that are hardcore can see the neglect a bit easier the lack of manpower. Endgame needs more depth believe it or not in terms of skill trees and loot persuit.
Ill give a perfect example: in the brave expansion they introduced amazing meta defining weapons and a hard activity to play it in that flowed the fun to difficulty ratio of onslaught was perfect.
The master stroke was shiny weapons another degree of exclusivity and power that didn't lock out newer players and made loot amazing to get getting a shiny was such a huge dopamine hit.
Fast forward to episode 3 we got onslaught back but its easier, it doesn't have fun traversal the boss rooms are a mess and theres no shiny weapons. 😮
" The community" is mad because bingie misses layups theyve dpne good before just do the same thing again and its a free win. This kind of thing has happened for 10 years straight.
I wish I could have that new player feel again. I totally get where you're coming from. But for some of us that have been around since early D1 man it's though. And yes as someone that's also in your discord ( not as active currently ) the second Episode was horrible. Here's hoping that the next one is better. And I'm also a casual gamer with almost 1400 hours and for the most part I love the game but it could have been so much better. The potential Destiny has or had was beyond anything I've ever seen from any game and they fumbled it.
The Red War was sunset in November 2020. How has this guy "just started", but has played TRW?
@@spinvestigator watched it so I could understand and experience everything i could before jumping into available content: ruclips.net/video/7LwXdCJW8pQ/видео.htmlsi=Knw8-N9lFNUd4mdb
I love destiny, but I feel they need to brings something new to refresh the game the new Prison of Elders just feels the same as any activity. But also they need to unvault the Red War and Forsaken.
I don’t like how tonics are RNG, the dawning event I gave up on wanted them emblems but frustrating my quest wasn’t progressing keeping resetting. It’s just getting really buggy. I am having a break as you need too.
Please Bungie take some risks this year, Destiny really needs it, I know have this burn out every year but you gotta really step it up.
Great comment!
Honestly I say ignore the toxic positive people who want to call you the bad guy for calling a spade a spade. And at the same time ignore all the people calling the game dead. One is dishonest and the other is just holding the grudge. It's a joke to say that we should pay $100 a year to only have good fresh content for 2 months And then we should go play other games the other 10 months.
I’ve watched all your destiny content cuz as a veteran it’s fun to see you experience it all for the first time and to remind ourselves why this game is so special
🫡🙏
i believe bungie is struggling with player feedback they need to put out polls for different reactions get opinions be more innovative, i think its a good game with a lot of potential but for people that have grinded the end game right now its not enough
they need a new management leader i think there a lot of things the other people in that company would love to contribute to destiny's full potential
This is why people who are higher level should be willing to do other things besides raids and dungeons with new players. I'm usually listening to metal during the heat of battle.
The holiday events are free so it’s just an extra thing in the game. I mean if you really don’t like those events you can skip doing it if you want. Haunted lost sectors are pretty fun if you ask me.
I agree with most of what you say I’ve played since Destiny 1 launched and have over 20000 hours in D1 and D2 I only play for fun, have never competed a raid or grandmaster and only completed one dungeon. Don’t care about min maxing just play for fun. The events pretty much non events at this point. Guardian games should be replaced with SRL and the Dawning they should bring back older strikes and pvp maps got the duration.
These are seasonal events that Long-timers Look forward to and all the aspects that are part of it is traditional to us, If you can understand that then maybe you can come and accept it
I agree that the game is fun. I've been around for most of the last decade. I think we gripe because we love the thing.
