There's a lot of tall grass around. Hide behind a rock with tall grass near it. After it can't find you, drop Huey in the grass, lay down, and hit the hide button (Y / triangle). When he can't find you he'll wander off searching. There's actually a really good hiding spot about 20 meters from the helicopter pick up.

i don't know if you already know this or did it in the video, but if him spots you and goes in that slow mo thing, psycho mantis will appear beside him and and you can shoot it, Sahelanthropus will be stunned for a moment, and you will lose him immediately if your fast to cover.

before i watched this helpful video i was playing this level and was hiding behind a rock. Sahelanthropus stood there and just looked at my position and did nothing... so i decided to move thinking the game was glitched and as soon as i took a step he used his enormous sword and killed me.
Ethan g-w in my case the game was glitched.. it kept walking against a mountain and I quickly called the chopper to a new location.. however it took me 20 mins to understand that..
When I first played this mission back in 2015, I seemed to escape Sahelanthropus without even trying, but replaying on PC in 2023, I had to reload the checkpoint several times because he was following me every step of the way, no matter how stealthy I tried to be. Watched your video, then tried hiding behind the rock. It worked.
Even easier method; Duck behind the truck immediately to your left, put yourself by the front left wheel and go prone to be sure (put Emmerich down obviously). Sally should walk down to the corner and stop to search for you again, pay attention to what its doing. After it's released those capsules from its back it will turn to look down the road towards where Pequod is hovering. Make sure you have Emmerich and start running towards Sally, it should begin running down the road so follow it, keeping to the road and cutting across the grass when the road bends to the left. Sally is going to stop again facing to the right, so run behind it and stand directoy between its legs. Once it does its sonic scream, run for the rocks to the right but be sure to come from behind Sally and crouch walk once you get behind those rocks. You're right by Peqoud now so nearly done!! You want to crouch walk towards the LZ keeping an eye on Sally who should be to your left and keep walking towards the rocks in front of you as youre going to use them to block Sally's line of sight. You might get "soft spotted" but it's okay because when you reach the rocks you'll he told "Great! You've lost it! Now put Emmerich in the chopper!" (even though Sahelanthropussy is right there🤣). You should now he able to crouch walk towards Pequod and as soon as you're able to then yeet Emmerich into the chopper👍🏻 As Peqoud flies away Sally will leap in front of you and you'll be told to shoot it with the minigun BUT WAIT until it fires the pods/missiles from its back before shooting. Then shoot the pods with short bursts so you don't overheat the weapon as you'll need to fire into Sally's head when it jumps at the chopper in slow motion/forced Reflex mode (although this won't count as triggering Reflex Mode on the score sheet because its scripted👍🏻) Mission Complete, Great Work Boss!! And fuck that mech walker to the moon👌🏻💯 and when you do have to fight it in Mission 31, use an upgraded LMG. Upon spaening run straight at Sally and use the big pylon to cock block all its attacks, beam it with your mini gun and badaboom badabing, mission complete😈

Learn how the bastard moves and anticipate where it will go to avoid it. Trust me you will get it eventually. Hope you get through this mission fast!

I passed this on my first try but i was so nervous and my legs were shaking after i killed him with minigun. Even i lost breath and heart was pumping. Damn i felt like it was real life depending. And for this mission i got C grade.
I gave this bugger the slip by rushing (through the rocky gaps along the road) to a Soviet checkpoint and hiding in one of the porta cabins. I then used Mother Base's fire support to draw away the attention of the giant robot.
When I played for the first time I don't know how to hide and I running around for a while after that i figured out. I mean it can just shoot down the helicopter so we can't escape guess this robot was too big but not too smart.
i just did the whole mission with no alerts or kills, panicked because of sehalanthropus and ran all the way out the mission area.. i cannot be arsed doing all that again🤣

For you that is doing that mission now, hide near the second chopper point, when the metal gear turns around go to the chopper spamming y or triangle, will take a few tries. We you get in to the chopper you still need to figth!
I ran the horse to the chopper but couldn't get in the chopper so waited for the robot to catch up then ran with my horse to the base camp and waited there and waited under the bridge. All scout mini bot appeared close to me so I evaded slowly and saw the giant robot the entry road to camp so I ran fast with the horse and got on the chopper
The boss can be really scary and loud but and the only reason why it’s like that is for the game to get on your nerves, for the people who are saying the thing is scary and you get nervous just mute your game or take off your headphones and follow this guide. it makes it so much easier and less scary
wee bit late, but if you dont care much for your ranking on this mission call in a chaff airstrike on it will make it much much easier considering this damn mission is horribly designed

For those who can’t be bothered to watch this, just move around a rock close to Sahelenthropus until his lights go blue then go to the helicopter and shoot him in the face when it goes slow motion, now you didn’t waste 5 minutes

just run out of mission area, the sahlantropus auto lose you and trying search for you, then u just run back to LZ will do
lol do not do this. If you leave mission area, you lose the whole mission progress and have to start way back from the beginning
it have some warning, then just run back in, the Ai will be searching mode instead of locking you, just avoid line of sight and the minion scanning .
