I really don't watch as much football as I did when I was younger but I still NEVER miss a Dolphins game. Other than the Dolphins' GM's inability to assemble a formidable offensive line, the Dolphins have become a very exciting team with an outside chance to reach the Super Bowl. There is a lot of glitz going on with the team from the strangely ingenious Head Coach to their tropical island Quarterback to their fast talking, fast running, fast scoring WR, Tyreek Hill and deservingly so.
But underneath that glitz and glamour is the foundation of the offense that allows the passing game to shine. The Dolphins rushing attack has a very similar feel to their up-tempo, game-breaking style both of which, though exciting when clicking, have had a penchant for coming to a screeching halt when punched in the mouth. Once bloodied, not only can you see the confidence deflate on the field, you can feel it in how the players execute and how the play calling shrinks into a little ball around the line of scrimmage.
What has changed this year is obviously improvement up front on the offensive side of the ball even though I would argue their OL is in the bottom five of the NFL when it comes to the combination of talent and availability. Head Coach/play caller Mike McDaniel has been a magician formulating schemes to compensate for his weaknesses in the trenches.
But we all know that it only takes you so far when twenty-two gladiators are out on the field battling in hand to hand combat. Even when our defense has stood tall and bloodied opposing offenses, they eventually faltered slightly with virtually no support from the offense. No team has fit the Mike Tyson victim role like we have in the past; "Everybody has a plan til they get punched in he face." And as blood drains from the brain, confidence flees from the heart until the will, the spirit is broken.
We entered 2023 primed for the exact same letdown knowing strong defensive support was coming but half a season away. By that time, a season can be over. So opposing defenses took us on aggressively hoping to dizzy us early and step on our throats. Some landed right from the opening bell and made our hearts sink. But one man, ONE MAN, never backed down, never lost confidence, never stopped punching, never stopped landing and never stopped wobbling the oncoming forces. He bloodied noses, broke backs, defeated their sledge swingers, battle-axe men, swordsmen, swept passed their archers and started sackng the governors of the oppostions fortresses. In some instances, he was the only man standing between victory and a total loss of belief and udder defeat. Yet, he has smashed into walls til they have cracked. Those cracks allowed his troops to see light on the enemies side and reinvigorated belief and the energy to keep fighting on and with each new blow landed, restored confidence that victory is achievable. The Valor of one soldier, who had been told he doesn't have what it takes seven times before, can not be shaken. As others would say he has risen from the ashes, he would say I'm standing on the 8th step of reaching the glory. That's a man of true greatness. That is a man you follow because he is a man of destiny. He has lifted his QB. He has lifted his offense. He has uplifted the defense when morale began to dwindle. He has plugged holes in the dam and kept Mike McDaniel's confidence from draining out. How many times now when the clock goes to 00:00 has Raheem Mostert ran across the blood soaked battlefield waving the Dolphins' flag in victory. I'd say enough times now that every single player on that roster enters the big stage each week more fearless, more focused and more confident that victory is at hand.
Maybe Tua's rise and leading this team with the torch at the end of his left arm makes him the MVP. Maybe Tyreek Hill showcasing his dazzling skills week in and week out makes him the MVP. But the heartbeat of this team that has kept the blood pumping, the spirit fighting and the team believing might best be referred to as The Ghost.
We love you, man. Know that. Thank you and keep blazing, thumping, scoring and winning. Got to give it up for #31, Raheem Mostert! 🫡🥳❤️💥👍🙌💪🤺🏈🥇🏆

Very revealing interview about the ups and downs in the journey of an undrafted player who is achieving new highs very late into his career as an NFL running back. Hope you break Ricky Williams record, but more importantly, counting on you to help Miami break that Super Bowl drought of theirs! Your wife is wonderful in the ways she has supported your journey and a follow up interview with her would be awesome! I am interested to learn what a day in the life of an NFL player is like during the off-season....not the trips, but the hard work necessary to stay in shape and compete in the NFL. Would love a rundown of your workout, how much weight, how many reps, how many running miles, sprints, etc. This stuff may be mundane, but I know that work is probably as important as your in season work.
