In conclusion, this dialogue is a comedic scene with a play on words, utilizing rhyming. While it shows the homeroom teacher intentionally withholding information, it is not a critically important scene. Because translating Korean lines into English can be challenging, subtitles often involve paraphrasing. So, there's no need to scrutinize individual words too closely. In fact, there are instances where the subtitles differ from the actual dialogue. If the content is truly crucial, it will be explained or shown in a later scene. For example In the scene where Huisoo is having a career counseling session with the homeroom teacher: English Subtitle: "Aren't those elite schools?" Actual Line: "(To get into a physical education college,) I have to attend a cram school, you know." Of course, this translation works, but it doesn't explain why the teacher is offering support for training locations and equipment or capture Huisoo's concerns about her father's financial struggles.
I recommended this show on your last video where you were talking about what you should watch next, but I honestly didn't expect you to actually do it😂 Glad to see it, though, and nice to know I wasn't the only one recommending it! You're in for a hell of a show🎉🎉🎉
Yeah this is a banger for entry level to kdrama, I could imagine if they want to keep such kind of hype ongoing for the next kdrama, it could only be Sweet Home or Squid Game, unless they want to try the less intense heartwarming one like Extraordinary Attorney WYW or a suspense thriller like The Glory.
@@hariyantdm7295 they're all pretty famous so you might've heard of them but, I'd recommend: - Sweet Home: - Squid game: (warning: gory/violent) - Train to Busan: zombie movie done right - Kingdom: zombie drama with a historical background done right lol. I'd say better than all of us are dead/ on netflix - The Glory: if you're into social issues/ it's a revenge story (netflix) - Mr. Sunshine: if ur into historical dramas/ the background is a fusion of old traditional korea starting to become industrialized (netflix) - My Name: action drama with a female lead (netflix) - Extraordinary Attorney Woo: really wholesome - D.P: based on how life is in the army, pretty depressing - Signal: crime, mystery, thriller
@@hariyantdm7295 Watch: My Name, Taxi Driver, Revenge of Others, The Glory, Weak Hero Class One, All of Are Dead, Bloodhounds, Kingdom, My Life Again, The Uncanny Counter. My personal favourites of this list are My Name and Bloodhounds. phenomenal acting, story and action. Essential viewing.
Thank you thank you thank you for deciding to react to this show!!! It certainly became one of the most talked about kdrama this year, if only this is on Netflix, I'm sure the popularity will surpass Squid Game. It's a superhero kdrama based on a popular webtoon, and so far has been done really GREAT. You'll be amazed on how the stories of each character unfold!
oh man i can't thank the person enough who recommended this drama to you too. i was looking for some reactions of this drama but i couldn't find any good reaction channel reacting on this one but see now my favourite reactors started reacting on it😭😭😭💗💗💗
singer : Seotaiji and Boys The most famous singer in the 90s, (Korea’s first idol?) Song Title: Come Back Home
'You must come back home~' is part of the lyrics Actually, there is no special meaning in this line, you can just understand it as if he was saying any English sentence he knows.
This show is great and I hope more ppl react to it! It's basically Disney+'s Squid Game (budget of about $35 million USD), but it's only popular in East Asia due to a lack of marketing in the West, which is a damn shame.
Woahhhh, great!! Thank you for reacting to this drama series I love the series since I discovered it 2 weeks ago, I watched all the episodes in a day and always waiting for the new episode
Well, this is the best K-Drama, so way to start strong. I don't usually use the like button much but... they're holding me hostage with that "1500" likes and we keep watching lol. Like the video guys please!
fyi, korean conversation usually got two version, one is formally honorific version which you would used when speak to a stranger or someone elderly than you, whereas when talk to same age friend or younger acquaintance, you can use the informally unhonorific version.
In Korean, there are the concepts of "존댓말" (polite/formal language) and "반말" (informal/casual language). "존댓말" is used when someone is older or holds a higher social status, or when you've recently met and aren't familiar with each other. "반말" is used with friends of the same age or younger individuals, typically in close relationships. For example: Hi, Hello 존댓말 (Formal): 안녕하세요 (an-nyeong-ha-se-yo) 반말 (Informal): 안녕 (an-nyeong) Consequently, if someone younger, during the first meeting, or in an unfamiliar relationship starts using "반말(informal)" immediately, it is extremely impolite and offensive behavior. For example, just like using the n-word towards a Black person by someone of a different race, it can evoke strong negative emotions, potentially causing conflicts. (However, when foreigners use informal language, conflicts are rare as most people understand the intent behind it.) In terms of 존댓말(formal), you can think of it as if "Sir" or "Ma'am" is attached to the end of every sentence like a single word: Hellosir(ma'am) Would you like something to drinkma'am(sir) In English subtitles, 반말 (Informal) might be described as "talk down," "impolite," "informal," or "casual." On the other hand, 존댓말 (Formal) might be explained using terms like "honorifics," "respect," and "formal." When watching Korean dramas with English subtitles, situations where something might seem hard to understand often involve issues related to politeness, wordplay, language comedy, or cultural nuances that are unique to Koreans. This makes it difficult to translate into English, often leading to rephrasing or providing a direct translation that may not convey the intended sentiment. In Korea, where age is a significant factor, all words, titles, and expressions vary based on age.

a general rule of thumb for Korean money conversion is to take off 3 zeroes to get the USD. for example, 1,000,000 won is about 1,000 USD. hope that helps!
Based on your taste in other shows, seems like you're going to like this one. BTW when HeeSoo asks her dad for money, its only for new uniforms, not money for cram school. Seems like her compromise to not burden her dad while allowing him to keep his pride.

6:36 In Korean, talking "casually" (i.e. in ban-mal) to a stranger will come across as disrespectful, sometimes even aggressively so. There's a separate, formal register of speech (jondae-mal) you're expected to use. It's the same basic principle as adding "Sir" or "Ma'am" to be polite, except the changes are much more extensive.
