#172 Unique Uruk-hai/Olog-hai Encounter & Quotes - SLAYER OF THE DEAD URUK FROM BLADE OF GALADRIEL DLC IS PROBABLY TALION MOST LOYAL OVERLORD EVER!
Ok if I were given the chance to choose which orc to b my overlord and look after my back would be (from preferably to the least from Blade of Galadriel DLC); Slayer, Thrall, Bow of Morgoth, Architect, Enchanted, Fixer, Digger and finally Flint
I don't really like how Fixer does his thing and he sounds really fishy to me as if he would betray you when things favor him. The Architect is fine as a character but as my overlord, nah he isn't overlord material since he's old and only good in building but not as destructive as Thrall so Thrall any day than Architect.
Flint is cool for fun and explosive purpose else practicality wise he's useless as an overlord or someone you seek to back you up. Bow of Morgoth is alright except he's also old so maybe during his prime his loyalty and skill would be priceless!
Digger...Not my cup of tea. As for Enchanted, it's obvious he only serve Eltariel/Elf so I doubted he would give Talion/ordinary human the 100% of his potential. Both Thrall and Slayer loyalty are unquestionable except Thrall, second being Bow of Morgoth, at least to me :)

Best part of this guy (and worst if you don't have the expansion) he's put in your garrison as soon as you beat the galadriel expansion so are any recruited orcs that survive (all of those orcs are unique too btw)
I love the fact that when Eltariel said she wasn't going to dominate orcs that Talion gave her the "seriously?" look.
Likely what he didn't say was "Oh wow, the traitorous elf who stabbed me in the back on the urgings of a tyrannical wraith so you could WILLINGLY help said wraith DOMINATE Sauron, failing SPECTACULARLY at that, suddenly thinks dominating orcs goes against her moral code. Shut up and get my reinforcements before I return the favor and see how you like being left to bleed to death on a bridge with your only options being die or become a Nazgul."

I like that the orc is hesitatent to tell Talion what happened. It's just show that these orcs are not just bloodthirsty demons and they to have fears and emotions, it clears that he really respect Talion as his leader but also afraid of him

Tbh I kinda hate how Talion felt nerfed in comparison to how he is when you play him. The shadow wars supposedly lasted up until the fellowship of the ring, which should be a very long time from when the game takes place. So, somehow Talion is all of a sudden an incompetent leader? I don't really get why Eltariel is so fucking condescending to Talion this whole DLC. Like my guy, you and mister fused-with-sauron CAUSED him to use the corrupting ring to stay alive. But where as you got your shit pushed in in mere moments, Talion held of the forces of Sauron AND his corruption for YEARS. She better put some respect on my man Talion's name.
I share your feeling mate, "rush" is the word as if they're tired with Talion and not sure what to do with him no more so why not turn him to villain.
I can see why they're so eagled to let Eltariel take over Talion's role and personally not my cup of tea BUT what I hate the most is Celebrimbor changed to cold-blooded, calculated, useless and evil-ish one!
I like Celebrimbor in Shadow of Mordor but this one I hate him, alot. So he want's the ring of the wraith but Talion decided to release that Nazgul by killing him, in the end, Celebrimbor decided to side with one who favored him the most WITHOUT THINKING TWICE AND THE BOND THEY FORMED LONG AGO...LIKE WUUUUTTT?!
She's an elf, right? Most Tolkien elves are arrogant asshats like Celebrimbor. Elf bros are RARE.
It's just how they write female characters these days, in a misguided attempt at making them badass. Notice how Idril (and, to an extent, Shelob) are never humble or grateful about anything, and always act as know-it-alls, just like Eltariel. This in opposite contrast of Talion and Baranor, who have no shitty quips and "told ya" moments.

the elterial stealing the ring felt kinda off since it wasn't hinted at too much, but my only guess is her seeing a nazgul finally get defeated + the power of a "non corruptable ring" likely pushed her to do it.
though im still mad that she decided to keep the ring instead of being likew "ay talion, throw that ring into the ocean and i'll give you this ring back and you can still do your shit and not worry about becoming corrupted"

Hell he was already pissed when talion gave shelob the ring, proving that celi didn't dominate talion and that he was more or less a participating party member (similar to bruz who you didn't actually dominate but he just chooses to follow you cause "bright lord.. dark lord.. same thing really")
im just more pissed about elterial since her character was so poorly written and just kinda shoved into it for the ending likely them trying to give talion a semi happy end while also setting up sequels and finishing his story
celi betraying talion and doing what he did makes perfect sense and if you listen to conversations throughout the game its heavily hinted at numerous times that celi is no better then sauron,
talion even asks him at one point "how much of your humanity was lost in forging that ring"
you also forget he poured his will and life essence into that ring. All thats left is a shadow of his former self, one that doesn't seem to care as much about putting up a facade but merely achieving his goals.. in this case the domination of sauron and the acension of a new lord

I can appreciate Akoth's voice actor sounding different because it's a past/present deal. Reading his tale, he was hellbent on taking Talion down for what he did to his brother, which is how he got his title. Fast forward years later, Akoth is dominated, and knows exactly what Talion is capable of, and fears him. Talion could destroy him without any though, so his tone in voice is soft compared to those who would dare go up against the Gravewalker. He basically became a yes man. Well, a yes Overlord in this case, so he doesn't die to his eventual wrath.

slight correction, talion wasnt the who killed or resurrected his blood brother, it only says 'a necromancer'. while talion may become a necromancer, if it was indeed talion who did it, the enry would describe akoth wanting to avenge his brother's death/resurrection, but it doesnt
I wish they did a bit more voice work with the dlc characters. Bow and architect only have a few lines which sucks, akoth sounds completely different then how he did in the cutscenes and he has nothing specific when he is such an interesting orc. This DLC had so much missed potential

Vocie actors are not the same and that is the worst thing. He had that voice of someone who feared Talion and that made him interesting, but now you can tell that his voice is, as you mentioned it, together with his lines, same as everyone's else. Only thing is that he looks really amazing and that he is super funny in the DLC story

RedRam Ipsen the rings draw their wearers to their power, plus she wanted her fingers to stay... and I’m not sure but the same thing would probably happen to her that happened to Tallion after he lost the ring
I’ve played both DLC and just from the player’s point of view the rings are freaking overpowered. Not only does it let you do defy physics but it lets the player revive themselves, enter wraith world and other powers (not sure where ring’s influence ends and Celebrimbor’s begin but Baranor cannot do any of the crazy stuff Eltariel and Talion can do because he ‘doesn’t have a ring of power’ according to game)
Ask yourself this if you were wearing a ring that makes you immortal, allows you to bend the rules of physics and a bunch of other stuff all seemingly without consequence will you willingly give it up?

I mean, you can really solo an entire army, teleport back and forth, teleport other people, never really die, controls fire, ice, poison, take control over minds, heal at will, etc, etc, etc. I wish they had a version of this more Dark Soulds and less GTA 5... a "normal ranger" mode or something like that...

0:29-0:38: To answer your theory, Az-Rans is an olog because every single olog (except Bruz, Baz, Gaz, and Daz) always starts with Az-, Ur-, Ar-, etc. he took his drakes with him because the drakes are used for a fortress defense when putting them in a hellfire cage. So there is absolutely no chance that an olog((let alone an Uruk) will be riding a drake any time soon. And if there is, then oh well

This glob had a big history behind him! He even gave up his life as a trickster and left the mystic tribe to join the marauders and worked himself up to the rank of a commander! No wonder why Talion promoted him to Overlord!
Edit: He probably left his tribe because of what they have done to his bloodbrother. The mystic tribe is known for their necromancers. Other tribes have necro's too but the chance to meet a non-mystic necro is pretty low...

Yesterday I was damn lucky, I saw a Necromancer Olog (Dark Tribe) in my Garnison... I didn't fucking noticed he was a Necromancer, and nearly let him rot there..
Then I placed him in Cirith Ungol, and let him fight online.. He won 5 times, and is now a legendary Olog Necromancer!

There was this one orc I’ll never forget. He was a legendary spear thrower who had a curse weapon and was immune to curse,poison,fire, and executions. And he was enraged by ranged attacks and stealth. And had the epic health AND epic damage upgrades. He also had a gang of Elite Savages. Dude was a literal god.......

Another one that I've heard in my Fortress was an Orc firing a barrage of insults towards Sauron, even calling him "ringhoarder" at one point. That was enough to make me laugh very much because he IS a ringhoarder. 😂😂
And yes, there's even one speciality among grunt banter, if you're lucky you're able to overhear them chanting one of the songs that doesn't talk about grog, but instead *about the current tribe that rules in the Fortress.* I found that one by accident and as soon as I changed Overlords, said song about the tribe ruling changed as well. 😁😁😉 Not sure if Slaughters and Outlaws have said tribal song though, so yeah, grunt banter on their own, between each other (Orc to Orc and Olog to Olog) and between different "species" members (Orc to Olog and Olog to Orc) is a chapter all on its own ... and then you also have regional grunt banter (Orcs in Lithlad will talk about different things than ones in Seregost for example), Bright Lord and Dark Lord grunt banter and so on.

Interesting watching this video I learned that orc are indeed empty minded in terms of without a purpose they probably won't accomplish much other than eating and taking shiny objects. Which is probably the intent of their creation in middle Earth. The perfect soldier with one purpose. The one you give it....
Yea, that's one of the reasons why I like the game as it gives us the perspective how orc lives in Mordor in a greater depth.
But the dev can definitely do it better!

The “I am but one soldier of a great army” is a stormbringer voice specific quote, meaning you can turn him into the stormbringer.
Hate to pop the bubble, its one of the base uruk personality quote (4 default personalities in the game; Professionally, Tricky, Brute & Coward). Every uruks with the said personality, in this case the "Professional" will have the chance to say that particular line.
Also, Stormbringer only work on a single melee wielder uruk, no ranged, no dual weapon, no shield & spear 😅

Shadow of War did a weird thing for me.. it kinda taught me about how easy it is to be racist lol. Before playing the game all I knew about orcs were negative things and I just assumed they were all worthless pieces of shit. But after a playthrough I got to know orcs on a 1st name basis and consider some of them to be friends and bros. Of course being a videogame it’s just a microcosm to reality but I came away from it understanding how people that don’t get out much and/or come from very insular communities can have biases towards people they’ve never met and places they’ve never been. All this from a game about magic, dragons and orcs.. thanks for teaching me something new videogames 🤷🏾♂️😂

i love the orcs that follow you because just a couple hours ago i lost all my assault leaders in a attack on another fort and all but one cheated death and came back to me still loyal
very few things in this world make me shed a tear but that right there was enough to make me and they were all my strongest orcs too

The safest trick is the one that is the most obvious. Orcs are too intelligent to fall for a simple ruse, therefore they won't even think about it, which leads to their doom 😏
