Very slick, I think the PS3 was the greatest console of all time, I am biased, I still have a launch edition and it runs flawlessly, when my buddy went through 3-4 Xboxes my OG PS3 still works!
You're a good person to make that assessment then! As long as you take care of it they definitely last. I had a ps1 out live my original Xbox and gamecube consoles.

Thank you for all your help. I am building The ultimate Gaming/Pc rig I have a gaming pc with a i7 core Asus Motherboard 64gig of ram and 10,000 gig hard drive. I have windows 7 on it and set it up for dual boot so if you turn it on and do nothing it boots into Batocera. I have pain stakenly tracked down the entire library of roms for almost every emulator on batocera so far and am installing them all scraping them all and making sure every game runs perfect and there are no copys and they all work amazing. and the ps3 has been the biggest grind. the games are so big it takes so long. as well apple and dos has been a pain in the ass because the files are not names for the games they are. so i have been having issues with those emulators and roms. But this has been such a major help. thank you so much
Dude. thank you. Man i downloaded 1.5 thousand gigs of PS3 games. and none of them were showing up in Batocera. And as soon as i took out all spaces and put .ps3 at the end and then i updated my games list. BAM! there all there. thank you so much. you saved me from a heart attack lol.
Good tutorial. I usually have them handy on a laptop so I can scan through them while on the desktop. It saves time by allowing you to double check instructions instantly.
I don't know how you know all this stuff, but it's very useful! Bizarre how this would be classed as abandonware when it looks so recent. It's a feast for the eyes! I noticed the E.T. game shares my year of birth: 1977. I've had a lot of work done, if that explains why I look the way I do. Noticed on the rpcs3 logs that you are using a GTX1650 for this demonstration. This is good because, it is exactly the same GPU I've got on a PC that I found on the electronics discard litter near home so, It should handle PS3 just fine :)
Very helpful! I worked through and got my batocera gaming pc running PS3 finally so thank you! One issue I just bumped into… gta iv.. it loads the ppu modules but gets stuck at 148 of 149. Doesn’t move from there. The other games all ram through and booted up well
Great video. One question - how to exit the ps3 game running on rpcs3 in batocera? Start/Select + hotkey closed rpcs3 and ends on emulator window with no control on xbox controller working. Only option then is to reboot the machine. Any suggestions pls?
When it brings you out is there a x in the corner of the screen like on a computer? If so a keyboard or mouse should enable you to navigate over to it. Not sure why it's not exiting you out completely. Mine takes me out tk the game menu like all other collections.
@@robertfrayer6711ps3 emulation is like 75% dependant on the CPU. My 6700k struggles. Ratchet & clank tools of destruction drops down to 21-23fps in large battles at 1080p. At 1440p it drops down to the same. Though I've tried this maybe a but over a year ago, might’ve improved ever so slightly. I have a 3070ti. I'd say, for proper ps3 emulation you need at least a 12400, or equivalent 6 core amd. 1060 for 1080p would be enough though. It's not super gpu dependent.

I just downloaded need for speed carbon. i checked the compatability list and it is compatible. But the game keeps freazing at the startup screen. any ideas how i can fix that?
I'm not sure about 360 I know there's emulators but It's very new. The original Xbox has emulation and even that is very hit or miss. Some titles are perfect others don't work at all.

Hello, I have a PC with AMD FX(tm)-8120 Eight-Core Processor 3.10 GHz 16 GB Ram and a graphics card AMD Radeon HD 6900 Series. Is that enough to play PS3 games with the RPCS3 emulator on the PC without it jerking? I also installed Batocera on a second hard drive via the PC, are my system components mentioned above sufficient to play PS3 with the RPCS3 emulator? If not, what are the PC system requirements to play PS3 smoothly and without stuttering? What is the minimum required for a graphics card? For me, the RPCS3 emulator on the PC/Batocera works very poorly or not at all, although I did everything the way it is done! That's why I think my PC system is too weak and I don't know if it would be enough to change the graphics card or if I need a new PC. dude would like to ask another question 😅 ive already bought a graphics card gt 240 on my pc unfortunately every time i switch to nvidia graphics i will able to continue playing but each applications when i configuring theres no choices for graphics card its still the built in graphic card. 😔 this is what i did directly flash batocera on my 500g hdd (flashed to store more games ) theres no other os instead of batocera ? should i switch to windows os to manually install the graphic card and just play instead on a usb stick running batocera thank you so much again for some answers
Thanx for the video. For those that don't know, you need to extract all files from .iso into .ps3 folder in order to word. To copy only .iso image and rename folder .ps3 will not work.

thanks man! I'll have to look into that. Exiting xbox and ps3 was always as simple as hot key and start like every other collection on Batocera but I've heard a lot of people mentioning that now so maybe the latest version has created this issue. We do see that sometimes with updates which is why I'm always so against updating images. If that is the case I'm sure they will fix that with the next update. MAME should be as simple as dropping the rom files into the mame rom folder. It always was anyways. The last image I made was for the steam deck a week ago and I had no issues with mame. In fact it was simpler than many other collections. I haven't done a pc image for Batocera in several months though so could have become an issue there. I'll look into this for you!

Hi, I connected a keyboard on my Win600 running Batocera. But when I press F1 it doesn’t go to the file structure of Batocera. What’s another way of adding and installing the update for PS3 firmware?
Would Batocera this have better performance compared to windows? Emulating 3D fighters on my arcade cab it works okay on windows just wonder if I could squeeze a few more FPS out of my Intel CPU on Batocera

But I go into the emulator and can the rom to dump manually. But going back to Batocera it still won’t open so I have to keep opening the games manually. Any idea what could be the issue?😊

@@OfficialChaseBrogan Thx. sometimes you get 7z files with an iso or raw game folders. I was unclear if I needed to make the folder type extraction into an iso or just put a .ps3 on the container folder and be done. Which is MUCH easier. By your video working it seems the .ps3 method works.
Hmm my games aren´t showing in RPCS3 when I´m going in applications. Each time, I have to go to the roms folder and pick them by hand. However, I can play them in Batocera directly without any problems. Do you have a solution?

I haven't tried on retropie. I would lean towards no because they typically don't have as many setting options for their emulators and the success of this emulator relies heavily on those.

Did you check to see if there are custom settings for that game to run? Check the rpcs3 wiki. I don't remember if that game requires specific settings adjustments or not but I know I've played that game on Batocera and it ran pretty smooth for me. May have to remove the game and readd it. I've had to do that a couple times with ps3 games.

i did exactly what you did and when i try to play afro it says E SYS: Booting '/userdata/roms/ps3/Afro-Samurai.ps3/PS3_GAME/USRDIR/EBOOT.BIN' with cli argument failed: reason: invalid file or folder i even grabbed afro from the site you recommended. please help.
same problem here. I also downloaded Afro Samurai from the same site as OP mentioned. Everything went well until attempting to follow the "PS3 Game Setup" section of OP's video. Using Batocera 35 and PlayStation 3 System Software Update 4.89. Help! EDIT: So I sort of figured it out. The error is indicating that we are missing a folder in the root structure of the Afro Samurai ROM. As you can see, the error code indicates there's suppossed to be a "PS3_GAME" folder within the Afro-Samurai.ps3 folder and after extracting this game there is none. However, if you create a PS3_GAME folder and then drop the USRDIR folder into it then the error code will be eliminated and the PPU compiling will occur after clicking on the game the first time. The problem that I still have is that in this ROM there are 80 PPUs to link and it everytime the PPUs are being compiled/linked it hangs on finishing the compiling/linking of PPU 79 or 80. Not sure why that is. Are other people also seeing this?

Mine has pkg files inisde the game folder, is that what yours have? How do you unpack pkg files?

make sure you have your roms as .ps3 extensions in their names. You often will have to rename them to add that manually.

Did you guys install the newest firmware?
You might need to extract the ISO and rename that folder to game.ps3
He clicks into the extracted file and renames it. Some game have a generic folder name I believe. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

There's a notepad file where you remove a "#" to enable the Nvidia graphics card.

Xbox worked a lot better so I think PS3 would be the same because you don't have 1000+ processes like windows.

Just go into your settings and change your language to English. I defaults to I believe Spanish on there if I remember correctly.
@@OfficialChaseBrogan I checked and it's already set to English. Everything is English except the little description of the system example Neo Geo, etc
Actually I figured it out. There is two sections for the English setting. One in the main menu and one in the theme itself. Thanks for replying!
Hi could be a stupid question but do you have to download the rpcs3 emulator or will it come up in the applications on batocera without downloading rpcs3
It'll be in Batocera already for you. No need to download it.

Great guide! Following this on my steam deck and did everything to the T. But when I select the title from Batocera it says the file or directory is invalid. But I go into the emulator and can the rom to dump manually. But going back to Batocera it still won’t open so I have to keep opening the games manually. Any idea what could be the issue?😊
Did you name the file type correctly?

I can't get my PS3 emulator to show up on my main menu on batocera. I've installed the firmware and added my games but I can't get it to show up on the main menu
do your games have the.ps3 extention? If not they won't show up.
I'm trying to find anything on installing stuff like steam and chrome. Every time I try they wont load and no one has a video

@@OfficialChaseBrogan Thx. sometimes you get 7z files with an iso or raw game folders. I was unclear if I needed to make the folder type extraction into an iso or just put a .ps3 on the container folder and be done. Which is MUCH easier. By your video working it seems the .ps3 method works.

Hmm my games aren´t showing in RPCS3 when I´m going in applications. Each time, I have to go to the roms folder and pick them by hand. However, I can play them in Batocera directly without any problems. Do you have a solution?

@@OfficialChaseBrogan Oh I found out myself. I had to click on "view" and then click on "Show game list" :D But I have another question. I there any way to install PKG files? The thing is, I wanted to install the latest NCAA 14 Revamp so I have to drag and drop the file into RPCS3.

Hmm would this work for retropie (I am not using a pi I am just using retropie from Ubuntu and I just prefer retropie)
I haven't tried on retropie. I would lean towards no because they typically don't have as many setting options for their emulators and the success of this emulator relies heavily on those.
If you are using a laptop make sure the emulator is using the "real" graphic card and not the buildt in. (this was the case for me)

hello, I heve got red dead r. with a rtx3080 and a couple of minutes later the game freezes, In my case v.36 from the main menu of batocera the rom starts immediately without showing me the emulator, what can i do? thank you who will answer me
Check and see if it works in the emulators website. There's a compatibility list. I don't believe it's listed as working on there.

I played Afro samurai and it goes black after you choose new game. Help!!!!!
Did you check to see if there are custom settings for that game to run? Check the rpcs3 wiki. I don't remember if that game requires specific settings adjustments or not but I know I've played that game on Batocera and it ran pretty smooth for me. May have to remove the game and readd it. I've had to do that a couple times with ps3 games.

i did exactly what you did and when i try to play afro it says E SYS: Booting '/userdata/roms/ps3/Afro-Samurai.ps3/PS3_GAME/USRDIR/EBOOT.BIN' with cli argument failed: reason: invalid file or folder i even grabbed afro from the site you recommended. please help.

same problem here. I also downloaded Afro Samurai from the same site as OP mentioned. Everything went well until attempting to follow the "PS3 Game Setup" section of OP's video. Using Batocera 35 and PlayStation 3 System Software Update 4.89. Help!
EDIT: So I sort of figured it out. The error is indicating that we are missing a folder in the root structure of the Afro Samurai ROM. As you can see, the error code indicates there's suppossed to be a "PS3_GAME" folder within the Afro-Samurai.ps3 folder and after extracting this game there is none. However, if you create a PS3_GAME folder and then drop the USRDIR folder into it then the error code will be eliminated and the PPU compiling will occur after clicking on the game the first time.
The problem that I still have is that in this ROM there are 80 PPUs to link and it everytime the PPUs are being compiled/linked it hangs on finishing the compiling/linking of PPU 79 or 80. Not sure why that is. Are other people also seeing this?
@@smithmal01 were you ever able to fix this? I am getting the same error. I created the PS3_GAME folder and I still get the same error. Getting frustrating. I am going to try to install another game or two and see what happens.
My computer crashes whenever trying to install the firmware update, around #3, any clue?
