    Stories like this one is were epic. Marvel’s Universe and history is so rich. I absolutely love some of the old Journey into Mystery stuff. Their are powers and entities far beyond the scope super heroes behind the scenes. I would love to see stories involving what seldom seen Uber powerful forces for good and evil are doing. Beings like Odin, Zeus, Zuras, Dormammu, Shuma Gorath, ext.. It seems like Marvel has went the way of DC over the last number of years making the stories not only revolving around their hero’s but making them over powered. It is far more interesting and epic feeling when their are powers that seem to dwarf that of even Super powered beings. Instead Marvel has nerfed Galactus, Odin and others.

    This fight is a great example of why Thanos is my favorite comic book character. He had nothing to gain from defeating Odin. He needed Odin's help, so he did what was necessary to get Odin to chill out and have some respect for Thanos. If Thanos appears weaker than Odin, that only serves Thanos's purposes. The question of Thanos's true potential was not answered here, as he had no reason to tap and reveal it.

    • @kanyerahming
      @kanyerahming 2 года назад

      I like how literally no one read the comic, they just say things without thinking. It was LITERALLY A STAND STILL until Odin called the spear. No one pays attention to the fact that Odin says their power is similar and is constantly surprised about how strong Thanos is. Nope, you guys just assume Odin is stronger because he's a skyfather, but Thanos is literally on his level. Gungnir amps Odin, clearly, because he had the edge only because of it.

    • @truechaos6927
      @truechaos6927 2 года назад

      I have read that comic many times, and aside from the fact that the story's authors didn't use the old english (thou, thy) style of talking that the Norse gods typically used in the comics and the artwork itself being subpar, it is one of my favorite battles. if you look at the images, no it wasn't a stand still, from the moment Odin arrived on the battlefield, he held the upper hand. He took out Drax with one attack and the attacks from Thanos and the Silver Surfer barely staggered Odin while Odin's attacks, outside of his initial attack, was knocking Thanos around like a rag doll and took the Surfer out of the fight in one hit as well. do I think Odin could have beat Thanos without Gungnir? absolutely, It would have just taken much longer and may have ended up completely razing Asgard to the ground. by using Gungnir he intended to end the battle quickly.

      "do I think Odin could have beat Thanos without Gungnir? absolutely, It would have just taken much longer and may have ended up completely razing Asgard to the ground." i agree, but thanos could've beaten him as well. again, they're equal, so it's 50/50, as far as destructive capacity goes. in hax odin is superior.

      @@some1350 he's not above thanos, they're at the same level. the fight literally shows that. odin doesn't gain the advantage until he summons gungnir. they both no sell each other's attacks then press on each other more and push each other back, but overall, no damage is done and they're both still standing. then odin calls the spear to finish the fight quickly and begins to defeat thanos. the spear amps his power, which is why he had the edge.
      there's no proof odin was holding back, he literally says thanos and him have a similar energy reserve (implying they're on par) and is surprised that thanos hadn't died from his attacks.
