The "Chinese cannot innovate or think out of the box" argument, is tired and well past its due by date. Anyone with any knowledge of Shenzhen or the Chinese tech space will tell you this, for free.

    • @tommyxiao5548
      @tommyxiao5548 3 года назад +9

It has examined that China is already thinking out of the old box entirely. Simply looking at Xinjiang, China is rapidly building it as a second World Factory for mid-Asia and east Europe through Belt and Road inter-rails. There are mega manufacturing bases receiving shoes and jeans factories from Fujian and coastals. There are huge solar and wind power fields on gobi deserts, providing low carbon power to the new green world factories. Based on the performance China can make its mind up to promise carbon neutral in 2060.

Bitcoin and similar assets are what we call speculative assets, meaning their value is determined by the next person willing to pay a higher price. Stocks real estate etc are productive assets where there value is derived from things they produce (e.g rents, profits etc.) Hence the term "productive" so there's definitely differences there :)

It is incorrect for the speaker to say that the Chinese government and the ordinary Chinese Han people do not care about the Uyghur minority in Xin Jiang. Ethnic minorities in China get a preferential treatment in all kinds of way. The standard of living in Xin Jiang is improving all the time and the Uyghur population has increased from 5 1/2 million to 12 million in the last 40 years. There is widespread mis-reporting in the West about the Uyghur minority in Xin Jiang.

Some misleading information helped to make America elites to justify their accusations of Chinese in Xinjiang. I could not believe he used a taxi driver word to accuse Chinese as a whole of cold blood racists. He said no individual rights poor human rights and Chinese hate Xi jinxing and their kings in a talk earlier but with him Chinese with kill each other to justify America to have regime change then Chinese will break up and fight each other.

Please do NOT blame others for your own poor policies. No one forced the US to amass such a huge debt, and spend the money on military industrial Complex. The wasteful spending is horrendous : sending warships 2000km away to annoy others is a prime example. Cut military spending and use those savings on R&D, and infrastructure renewal. US will be strongest in no time ! Time to get back the 'government of the people, by the people, for the people'. Accountable to the people, too.

you can select negatives and paint any country like you do anyway. i'll do the US for you, since you're probably american (NYC in your name): the US is a country with far more violent crime than china. women in china can actually walk alone at night without having to fear getting robbed or worse. meanwhile in the US you need special police units in china/koreatowns because asian-americans keep getting beaten up.
the US is a country of political polarization where one half despises the other half. a country where corporations own the politicians through legal bribery aka lobbying. a country with stagnant wages, rampant drug addiction and homelessness, police violence, racism, and the highest incarceration rate in the world. its native american population was almost completely wiped out and has been reduced to 2% of the population, mostly living in impoverished reservations with widespread alcoholism and violence.
a country that has a habit of forcing its will on other countries through sanctions or its military might, while at the same time being a hypocrite about it and calling china or russia the bullies. big bad cuba is still being sanctioned by the US to this day. even the international criminal court isn't immune from sanctions, because how dare they investigate US war crimes in afghanistan.
all in the name of democracy and freedom of course. says the country where there was nearly a coup this year, the country that had CIA torture sites across the world, the country that supports and protects countries such as salafism-spreading saudi arabia and apartheid state israel.

    Excellent speech always from Goldman.
Just disagreeing on a few items but completely understandable coming from an American view point.
    1. All humans have innate racism in them. Simply because we are all different and holds our own culture, comfort zones and prejudices.
We have Meghan being ostracised even when her husband is a prince. What more can we say about the Chinese on Uyghur?
However it is more political than racism when come to Xinjiang, who borders the central asia, India and Russia.
Instead of racism, its more ethnocentrism where the Chinese wants to make the Uyghur Chinese other than just being a national.
    2. It’s true the Chinese does very well with a plan in mind and indeed may not have the Mavericks to creat things by accident.
Exactly the point, what if the Chinese invent stuff not by accident but by design and processes? Wouldn’t more inventions happen and it’s more productive takes shorter time from prototype to market? Have rethink!
    3. It’s indeed tragic that Covid 19 started in China and become really hated. But no one wants a pandemic to happen. If anything, it has strengthened China’s core CCP power and weaken irresponsible local regional officialdom. It’s the local-regional officials who were irresponsible but remember it was Beijing who stepped in.... supposedly a bit late but diseases spreads fast, coupled with an irresponsible Trump who allowed the spread to go wild... similarly in Europe, all watching China’s pain without helping much when it happened. A Denmark artist even replaced the stars of China’s national flag with the coronavirus.
So much blame is on China but don’t forget who allowed the virus to spread.
    4. Xi is immensely popular. Don’t call him a thug. He is to the US because of his excellent leadership. Li Ke Qiang is a smart guy but he is too nice for an awaken power eager to push China back and down. Xi is strongman and it is natural for the US to hate him.
Lastly understandably China is a challenger because it threatens US supremacy but by no means dangerous. The use of such words gives different meaning.
Like you said it’s disastrous to have a war between the 2 giants, it is best to use appropriate words.

That's not unusual. America leaders are hypocrites who will exaggerate the wrongs of others through their rose coloured lenses of themselves.
They were certainly hoping that the world would turn against china for the virus. But the virus has actually opened the eyes of the world to what was being covered up by the US, unnecessary wars, regime changes, corporate looting, near economic collapse, dollar demise.
