Honestly, it's a good reminder for all the dudes out there pretending to be perfect. Failure is an opportunity to learn and become a better version of yourself. ✌️ Thanks for uploading this!
Wise words about failure. It's often hard to admit to failure. I imagine it was even harder to post a video about it. It all turned out well. Good job.
Great video with a great message! Touch up paint is best used to fill small rock chip type holes. It’s a half measure… ok on plastic but not on metal panels if the prime coat is broken as it can lead to rust and bubbling. For plastic: Repair the area by taking it to bare plastic. Ensure to feather edge the sides. Add your filler if needed, sanding from 180-400 grit. Hit with degreaser to clean. Dry with tack cloth (non lint cloth). Spray base primer coat 1-2 coats depending on coverage. Wait to dry. Then wet sand with 400 grit. Dry then degrease again. Spray 2 colorcoats with recommended 10-12” away from panel to avoid runs, sags and bumpy surface(orange peel). If perfect proceed to clear coat 2-3 coats. Sand between coats with 1000 grits but being careful not to oversand. Boom! Done. That was a mouthful. It’s a process but doable. God Bless you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Failure teaches us more than not trying it in the first place. I too have found over the years, I suck at body work and paint correction. But I can strip any car or truck down to bare frame and put it back together again. I did 1 car swap from a 1.9 automatic, drums in the rear, to a 1.8 DOHC 5 speed, took the wrecked GT 2 door, and put all of it, including the dash, etc, into a 4 door sedan of the same era, it was a fun little experiment. Took a boring family car and made it a sleeper with a higher performance Mazda setup, 4 wheel discs brakes, bigger gas tank, all bolted in, no fabrication required, I can handle that stuff no problem. Taking out dents, or painting? I leave it to the pros now. Keep getting after it, Jason! And I hate it when those mailboxes jump out in front of you... you're just going along minding your own business and bam, they're right there. Nice job fixing it!
No tips on what you might have done wrong, however ceracoat make product for all of your black trim, I use it on my 2014 F-150 and it always looks new. Thnx 👍👍
Me personally any body damage that wont harm the functionality or can be kicked out stays. I HATE clean trucks that never see use. Obviously yours does but i love the crease on the door and rocker on my 80 from being handled by a fork truck after being rescued from a field after sitting for ~18 years. Dents scratches and rust holes makes a truck a truck and it tells a story. Failure is life wear it proudly
@@JasonExplainsThings I love em. Each and every one. I do need to weld in new floors are they are blue tooth but everything else is staying. Also still loving the hubcaps you sent 10/10 brings the truck together
It looks like fish eye? It’s really about the prep and a clean area. Fish eyes are from contaminants. Need a good degreaser and a dust free environment 😊. Great try though Jason. It always worth the experience lol

I’m weird. Some scratches don’t bother me at all. Others drive me crazy. Mailbox ones drive me crazy. 😂
