I'm 68 years old and my PK belonged to my grandparents. When my grandmother died in 2007 at 98 years old, almost 99 I wound up with the grill. My PK is over 60 years old and still cookin'!! It's always lived in a carport or porch and it's in excellent original condition. It's second to none in cook quality. I love mine and every time I use it, it brings back great memories.
Pk 4 life for me. It’s made some of the best steaks and burgers I’ve had. The two zone cooking and 4 venting system is second to none. They’re on sale right now for 20% off if interested.
I grew up on a Weber, and the PK is a Weber killer , you’re paying for quality, even my most frugal of friends switched over to the PK after having bbq off my PK i’ve converted six kettle users, by far a superior grill
The PK is holds heat better by a long shot. Once dialed in the temp is steady as she goes and is very reliable in cold weather. Offset cooking is what I do most and the PK is flawless. With the cookmore grid ( about $45) I can double the cooking area, and as for cleaning, I just hose it out. Because its all aluminum it will NEVER rust and will last several lifetimes. The Original is still completely made in the USA, only the PK360 and PK New Original is made in China (disappointing and I would not buy one of these). Most Weber grills are made from "globally sourced components" and some are actually manufactured in China and Taiwan. I'm not saying that Weber does not make a quality product, they do, but when I made my decision it was USA all the way which is why I went with PKTX and have never looked back.
Im pretty sure only the capsule of the original is made in the US now.... ever since the new leadership took over. Before, every single component was sourced in the US.
Well, pretty simple for me. The cooked meat on the PK far far far outshines the Weber. So much so that I gave mine to my neighbor, who doesn’t grill much. PK grills are Made in the US and are leaps and bounds superior in smoking. Yeah, cleaning and all may be easier with a Weber but I didn’t buy a grill because it’s easy to clean. I bought the PK because it cooks better.
I've owned 4 webers and all rusted out in 4 years. We do grill a lot and live in a hot humid area. Bought a PK 6-7 years ago and its going strong. I replaced one top grate. The over all grill is solid and temp reliability is superb.
Awesome review! I can speak towards the amazing customer service that PK has to offer along with warrantees. They have gone above and beyond helping me resolve some issues when my castings came in. I also enjoy the fact that the PK is 100% aluminum. That being said... the Weber is my quick evening dinner go-to cooker for the simple clean factor.
I can speak to Weber's customer service. Every interaction I've had with them has been awesome. Over 20 years, I've had 5 weber, 4 kettles, one smoker. Still have 3 of the kettles and the smokey mountain. Of the two issues I've had, one with the smoker and the other with a special edition kettle, both were resolved very fast at no charge. I have smoked, baked, grilled, seared, you name it, on a kettle. Longest burn with no refuel on a 22 inch kettle was almost 10 hours. Just my .02, but that's been my experience.
Weber’s suck now. Built so cheap. This is like comparing a Porsche to a Yugo. PK is the bomb. I’ve owned 50+ grills in my life and PK will be the last brand I’ll ever buy. Used my PK300AF tonight and the food was perfect, as usual.
The P in PK is for portable, definitely need to highlight it. As far as the build quality for a truly heirloom grill PK is in a completely different class.
I love my original pk grill. I only empty and clean the ash out of my grill a couple times a year. Who does this every time they grill? Also why was your grill filled with water?
I don't know about Weber lasting decades. I had one of their more basic 18" grills for many years that was kept outside, but not exposed to rain or direct sunlight. It did start falling apart and rusting eventually but still worked. I gave it to a friend and bought the same Weber in this video. I'm thinking about the PK even though there's nothing wrong with the Weber and I have the Vortex, Grill Grates and Slow and Sear. I'm also considering a pellet grill to smoke. I've smoked quite a bit on the Weber but it's not ideal.
Agreed. I've been waiting years for my 26.5" Weber to die so I can snag a PK. The cleaning process alone makes me think I'll just go to a 22.5" Weber when it finally does die.
My two favorite cookers. My number one is my PK original made right in Arkansas. Weber kettle is close second. For the ultimate in temperature control and low charcoal usage and long-term durability that PK is hard to beat.
My PK original and PKTX were made in USA Arkansas. Unfortunately, the new grills are made in China and I think they even closed up the Arkansas production. Another reason I haven’t bought a new PK. I love PK but am not going to spend $1000 on a charcoal pK360 made in CHINA.
No offense, but this sounds like a Weber commercial! I am a Rambler Joe fan, and I would have gone PK but it's a little too rich for me (-:. You should have mentioned the PK's all-aluminum design, which makes it ideal for long and low cooks, not to mention bbqing in windy conditions. PK also comes with a 20-year warranty.
This is a fact based video. My neighbor has a PK and I have several kettles, including a performer. We have cooked on each other's grills extensively. The cleaning itself is a deal breaker and the accessories make it a no-brainer as to which one the average person would prefer. He wants to buy one of my Webers and even offered to trade his PK for one. After using his PK, I'm not interested in trading. I have so many grills and smokers (including a chargriller Sidebox which is basically a Rambler Joe), I might just give him a kettle.
I have owed PK, Weber and Outdoorsman. PK 40 years ago lasted about 10 years until the grates burned out. Should have found new or made our own. Weber is easy to use but might last 4 years if you are real lucky. Bought an Outdoorsman, used it a few times and gave it to a friend. My favorite of all times is my PK. Easy to use and will outlast me.
I feel very fortunate. I won a new old stock original pk for $189 on an auction site. Must be the bidders didn’t know how much these things cost. Also aluminum will not rust which is a huge bonus for me. It’s by far the best grill I’ve ever owned.
Good presentation. If I was looking to buy a new grill, I think I would go with the Weber based price and where it's made now. Besides I have cooked on a variety of grills in last 40 plus years and I can cook good BBQ with just about any grill. Even with a bunch of concrete bricks. With a little skill you can use any grill.
I've had both the Weber for over a decade and now a PK360 for 2 years. The build quality on the PK is superior with a thick cast aluminum shell and thick steel grates. The vent fins on my Weber rusted relatively quickly with the vent becoming non functional. Clean up might be tougher on the PK300 but the 360 has a clean out hole in the base. I can sweep the ashes into the hole and into a pail that I can hang under the shell. The PKs do have smaller cooking surfaces (I think 300 and 360 refer to area in square inches) so if you're cooking for bigger groups (>5 people) it could be a challenge. The PKs are far pricier than the Weber. I don't really use accessories so that didn't factor into my decision making. PSA-Use a wood grill grate to clean as opposed to wire brushes. There have been many case reports of perforations of the esophagus from swallowing metal wires that come loose from cheaply made wire brushes.
PK grills are awesome and are far superior quality. Yes expensive compared to the Weber but you get what you pay for. I’m not knocking Weber, they are great grills and have excellent accessories. I would buy one as they are budget friendly, I was considering a master touch but opted for the PK300AF. I also own a Char Griller Patio Pro. That’s an awesome grill which I’ve owned for 10 years and still looks good as new, needs a lot more TLC and regular seasoning.
PK holds heat way longer which equals to longer grilling time! The Weber is just too thin and burns thru charcoal fast especially when we drinking and just looking at the fire in the winter time😂😂😂
I personally would not have used a brisket to compare for size. Although you can cook a brisket on either I don’t think either is ideal for a brisket (unless you’re using a deflector plate on the PK). I think a pork butt would be a much better comparison.
I LIKE THE PK 4 GRILL IT LOOKS HEAVY DUTY AND DOES THE JOB. I LIKE THE WEBBER ITS A NIC PRODUCT..THE WEBBER GRILLS ARE ALSO VERY EXPENSIVE JUST FOR A TABLE TOP THAY ASK FOR A LOT OF MONEY...ILL GO WITH THE PK 4 GRILL.❤
If you think the Weber kettles made and sold these days are made to last, you will be a sad customer pretty soon. My Weber bought in 1999 lasted for 21 years but when I was checking for a replacement Weber I realized the quality of the metal, the weight, is nowhere near what it was. No wonder Weber has lost its’ market leader position, and no list of accessories can hide the FACT it does not retain heat good enough to be used for long cooks anymore. Enter PK. The build is massive and once you dialed it in, you can leave it. It’s. A. BBQ.
PK is for cooking stakes, also my Weber has bumps and bruises from straight line winds here in Texas Dust devils and hail. Still cooks like a champ. 😅😅😅
If you use grill regularly then Weber kettle will last 10 years and PK360 will last 50 years. I have both. Difference in build quality is superior in PK360 even though it's made in China. PK360 can maintain temperature so well and it's far more efficient using charcoal compared to Weeber. Overall you will spend far less money on PK in thee long run. Major accessories are available for PK too. But out f the box PK360 works like a charm. At least I didn't need to purchase anything else.
I wish I could remember where I read it. But an article said the new original Pk grills are still cast in the USA. But no longer in Arkansas that has been moved under contract to Iowa. It’s the 360 and the little portable that are made in china. My $1200.00 Genesis Weber gas grill is made in China but it is a sweet grill.
The original Original PK Grill is still made in the USA. That's the one I bought. That's why I bought it, and not the others. I have both and find the Weber is OK for some stuff. The PK kills it on steak, though. Not even close. I also think it's a better smoker. Weber is better for burgers and hotdogs. That's just my opinion.
Only the silver original basic grill is made in America but that same grill is being phased out, at least that was what was said on Amazing Ribs, there was a video of the factory making the original on RUclips once as well.
The main thing that has always kept me away from the PK is ash cleanout. PK recommends a shopvac for clean out. Seriously? Needs an easier clean out system.
Weber's parts are getting more questionable every year. Most of their parts are made overseas. The shell seems to still be made here. You can tell some of the components are questionably compatible. For instance, the leg sockets on the kettle are USA, but the legs themselves are overseas. The fitment is sloppy and the legs are quite thin in material. What you end up with is a wobbly stance. If you're looking for the one heirloom cooker that will last several lifetimes, this is it folks. P.S. I don't work for Goldens' I just heavily admire this cooker.
The longevity of the PK is worth it alone. I love my kettle, but I know in time it will rust out. The PK is aluminum and will last 10x longer than the kettle.
Cast aluminum grills will last life times they are like cats 9 lives compared to metal grills if coating get chipped off of metal grill it will rust through I have a cast aluminum grill I have had it 24 years an it was right old when I got it I’m still cooking on it ,,,will till I can’t any more then maybe my kids will keep the tradition ,,lots of family meals an it’s a old gas grill converted into a charcoal grill an it has been out side this whole time cast aluminum number 1👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 cook on ,, now I have a Weber toooooooooo
My first Weber kettle from 20 years ago lasted 15 years despite being knocked off a porch during a storm, run over by a family member mowing the lawn, and living outdoors all year long. Now, neglect kills grills. Doesn't matter if it is weber, pk, or any other. Take most reviews of people raving about one brand over another with a grain of salt. The gact PKs ate made in China deciding factor for me. The ease of cleaning and cooking space made a difference as well. First thing i thought of if i want to cook ribs or Brisket was space.
That Weber Kamado looks very tempting. I just wish it weren't so expensive! How do you like it? Is it equally good at both low/slow and hot/fast cooking?
@@jenniferdahlin7386 ive owned 12 grills and its my favorite, yes does both really well. I had a few large ceramics and I prefer the Weber Kamado if u over shoot the temp it comes down quickly and is more efficient with the charcoal
@@1230mkelly I own a 24X48 LSG with a warming oven…..I own the 20X42 LSG pellet grill…..I own the LSG adjustable charcoal grill…..I own a 24X48 Texas original off set…..a 22” WSM and two 22” Weber Kettles! I am also contemplating a Yoder Cimarron S pellet grill!
Weber settled the lawsuit in 2012, and now claims that their grills are “Made in USA, incorporating globally sourced component parts.” If your Weber grill does not say “made in USA, incorporating globally sourced component parts,” then it is one of the models that is entirely manufactured in another country.
you cant compare the build quality, i cook on my pk in frigid canadian weather up here and it hold temp like a king, have weber build cast aluminum, and theyll send it to china aswell
Yes sir I got cast-iron grate performer deluxe nothing beats it bought mine from my boss his wife said it just makes to much smoke 😮😅😊 I told them don't worry ill fix it when I get home 😅

Weber assembles in USA, all parts are shipped in from China. Made in not manufactured in.
Weber is for people that actually cook often and not just a few times a year. Good luck cleaning the PK after many really cooks

The majority of the winners on the steak cook off association events use the pk.
That’s fine if all you care about is direct grilling. But it’s obvious from the size alone that it cannot match the versatility of the Weber kettle.

Weber kettle is fine but it ain’t in the same league with a PK
Is pk360 worth the extra 300$ over the regular Pk 300?
Weber for me.

I personally would not have used a brisket to compare for size. Although you can cook a brisket on either I don’t think either is ideal for a brisket (unless you’re using a deflector plate on the PK). I think a pork butt would be a much better comparison.

Agreed, you cant get far these days without things being made in China, so long as you are liking it! The Weber Genesis is an awesome grill!
If you want American made, the PKTX tailgating model is made in the US. PK will far outlast a Weber that feels cheap and will rust.
Just buy both
The newer Weber stuff is not the same quality as you used to get. Just be advised.

Great review…..I am purifying all my grills to USA made only! Weber Lonestargrillz Yoder and others!
If you could have it your way what would be your set up with all the three mentioned above?
@@1230mkelly I own a 24X48 LSG with a warming oven…..I own the 20X42 LSG pellet grill…..I own the LSG adjustable charcoal grill…..I own a 24X48 Texas original off set…..a 22” WSM and two 22” Weber Kettles!
What I’m replacing is a Recteq bullseye…….a Masterbuilt 1050 gravity fed and a Grilla grills Kong! The Kong will be replaced with a Primo ceramic( only ceramic made in the USA!). I am also contemplating a Yoder Cimarron S pellet grill!
Pk 300, pk360, and pk go are made in CHINA
Build a smoke house like a real American, and cook steaks over a open fire! Bunch of pansies!
If anyone ask you to grill with pellets ask them firmly yet politely to leave.
Weber settled the lawsuit in 2012, and now claims that their grills are “Made in USA, incorporating globally sourced component parts.”
If your Weber grill does not say “made in USA, incorporating globally sourced component parts,” then it is one of the models that is entirely manufactured in another country.
Yeah, I remember my 18" was made in Mexico.
Got my weber kettle for $50 on FB market and works perfect.
Also, how do you get the ash out of the PK?
Im new to grilling. I need help. Does anyone know how to get the grill up to temp.
How much is weber paying you😂
PK is way easier to clean
Pk will never rost at any conditions. Better standard equipment. Weber rost on the 2 saison outdoor. I’ve got both. Pk top
Weber for the win
you cant compare the build quality, i cook on my pk in frigid canadian weather up here and it hold temp like a king, have weber build cast aluminum, and theyll send it to china aswell
Weber will kill the PK any day of the week! Iv had both and went back to a weber 22 Performer Deluxe.
Yes sir I got cast-iron grate performer deluxe nothing beats it bought mine from my boss his wife said it just makes to much smoke 😮😅😊 I told them don't worry ill fix it when I get home 😅
Poor review, poor arguments.
Talk about showing a biased.
Made in America. I’ll take the Weber.
Weber 26 blows that Pk away
Weber is better
I'm gonna stay with my USA made Kettles...
Pk did come with a thermometer 🌡 @ least mine did
Weber all the way
