I just did this tutorial. If you're doing this for the first time and you're a beginner sewer, I suggest the following: 1) use a stiff fabric! Jersey or lightweight fabrics will be tough to stitch. 2) Yes, it is easy to "finish" as far as Quiana Unique stops. However, you gotta stitch the hems and finish the seams, otherwise the pants will fall apart before the end of the day. This is a fair amount of work, hence why using a stiffer fabric will help immensely. Thanks for an easy-to-follow tutorial!
Thank you for a concise tutorial. I just finished making my pants, took about 3 hours, but I'm not an experienced sewwer. Instead of the matching ties, I added a coordinating ribbon on front and back, and on the back ribbon I added velcro to avoid the knot at the back; and now they're adjustable too. I also hemmed all edged for a more finished look. I love the fit and I intend to make more! The whole thing cost me $5.50! Thank you!!
I loved these in the 70s and would’ve continued wearing them all these years but I never learned how to sew. We used to wear wraparound shorts also. I believe at some point in my life I did make a pair of these but it was so long ago. Thanks for the easy to follow tutorial
In the eighties, I had shorts like this. They were so comfortable and airy. I lived in Fresno, California and they were so cool - perfect for the 100 degrees plus weather.
I am a child from the '80's and being that I am short and squatty, clothes off the rack often didn't fit me well. I made A LOT of wrap around pants and skirts and this was my go to for colorful spunky clothing when Punk Rock was really in. :D
Thank you! I have watched SO many videos trying to figure out how to make these pants. Yours is the first one that made my mind understand. Lol. Great video!
This is incredible! So quick and simple for such great looking trousers. I'm teaching my kids to sew this year and I think I'm going to start with these (and maybe make a few dozen pairs for myself...).
Thank you so much! It was really hard to sew the jersey fabric I'm using with the machine - I ended up pulling the fabric as I was feeding it into the machine, so that it was already stretched. I also used a zigzag stitch and stretchy thread. It makes the hem look puckered but at least the stitches won't rip out! I also changed the initial 36 by 40 rectangle into a 40 by 40 square so that I had a bit more thigh coverage... or may it made it longer. I'm still not sure. Anyways, great video. Thank you!
Thank you! I could NOT figure it out from looking at patterns, but your video makes it really clear. Also you are adorable and fun! I am going to try this this weekend. Need fun pants!
Most detailed video on the subject. It took me a long time to figure these out from other videos bcuz they speed them up. One can choose length and width to their own body size, shape and desired length. Love that purple!!!♡♡
Thank u so much 4 sharing this video, I am so stoked I tried it last night, turned out great, I used a different type of material, kind of crape type so I had 2 hem my material all around the edges, made a V cut N the front of the pant & added a sheer piece of material where I cut the V shape, I really like it.
This was super helpful! I made mine out of denim, so I had to hem everything. That took a while, but overall a fairly quick project that look fantastic. Thank you so much for the quick and easy tutorial.
I don't yet know how to use the sewing machine or to make my own clothing but I'm definitely subscribing to your channel. Soon I know I'll manage to make this beautiful pants, your explanation is very clear. Big hug for you, and thanks.
Thank You Quiana. You truly are a gift from God sent to teach His Daughters to dress humbly and modest. Many Blessings from the Bundjalung Tribe in the Land of OZ aka Australia. XOX
I would rather not have a wrong side, as this flows better if I'm not worried about hiding one side of it in the draping. This is by far the best demonstration of how-to on this I've seen. Thanks for posting!
You just saved me hours of work on my costume project for class. Mine aren't going to look as pretty due to what the costume is but I think what you showed here will work very well.
I am trying to work this out in my head, but seem to be working backwards, sorry.. The part immediately under the crotch needs to be the same as your hip measurement + ease + hem allowance (if you are using a woven, you will need to hem the open edges on the sides). So, when you lay your fabric out, I would measure down for the crotch, the measure across - at that point you need 1/4 hip measurement + ease + hem allowance (if needed). Make a test pair first, knee length and using cheap fabric with similar qualities as your good fabric, to save your good fabric to make a good pair after any adjustments are needed.!
And do you know i dont have patience when i want to do some thing i do it at any cost... I had inch tape but it was cut by my small brother so i used ruler scale which was also broken and it had only 6 inches include in it so i used my old broken scale for measurements. Silly me! But really thank you for such a video. I have made it in leapord printed cloth and it turned out extremly great . I am really happy beacuse i am not that big to sew my own clothes.
Omg! I LOVE this! I'm going to convert an infinity dress I had to wear as a bridesmaid into these pants! I have been dying to find something to transform them into, THANK YOU!💞
How wide was the original fabric you used? What was the measurement of the first piece you showed that you cut 40x36? I have been looking through my stash to see if I had enough fabric to try this out

Excellent tutorial! I made these back in the '70s! I've made several pairs over the years. You did great, keep up the good work!
Hi. Given that you have experience with wrap pants, could you please tell me how you use the bathroom in these? Which tie do you open? Front or back?
Super idée. Bisous de France.

If you dont mind me bothering you, whenever she measured for the length, how did she measure for the waist size?
How much cloth is required to make this pant

What type of material is best suited for this?

Fantastic🤘😝🤘
Muy bello pantalón gracias
You said the width of the legs is based on your measurements, how did you determine that width in order for the pants to still be flowy enough
I am trying to work this out in my head, but seem to be working backwards, sorry..
