I literally do this [panic] all the time when I get random charges from concerts or places I don't usually make purchases. "Where the fuck did I spend $50... Oh yeah I bought an expensive ass T shirt at that concert." xD

I can relate so hard. We've all done stupid things before. I once last my keys while snowboarding in Michigan on the last day of my trip and had to spend $1000 total because of that mistake. I ended up having to stay the night at the hotel at the resort because Michigan is rural af so I couldn't get an uber; the hotel only had one room left which was their most expensive suite ($400 a night). Then I had to get my car towed 3 hours away to the only car dealer that was shady enough to let me get the car re-keyed without my parents (who's name was on the lease and they were a 13 hour drive away) being there. I've also left my credit card at a restaurant and had to get a new card on the first day of graduate school in a state that's 12 hours away from home. When I checked my bank statement, I saw a charge for an investment company and immediately panicked and called the bank manager to report it as fraud because the bank was closed, just to find out that the investment company was actually the gas station I stopped at that day.

It frustrates me that in the age of the internet and constant connectivity that charges can't instantly come out of my bank account or go on my credit card. I also have ADHD so I forget that I spent money which leads to the common issue of suddenly having less money than I thought I did, and I know there are solutions to this but please don't like offer them. All I'm trying to say is I feel this in my soul which is why I check my bank account like 8 times a day.

I recently got a charge on my debit card for $90 at White Castle. Which was concerning, because I’ve never eaten at White Castle, let alone spent nearly $100 there. I cancelled my card and filed a dispute on the charge. They sent me an email confirming the dispute… and the email said the charge was at a local pet store I get cat food from. It had just turned up as White Castle for God knows what reason.
When my identity was stolen I almost had a nervous breakdown. It's a scary thing! You shouldn't feel bad about freaking out about it. And honestly, it won't be hard for these companies to unwind the calls that you've made. This kind of thing happens ALL the time. Like seriously, all the time. I was able to get all the charges reversed and the fraudulent accounts shut down after filing a police report. What gave me peace of mind was freezing my credit and keeping an eye on my credit report every month.
I had that happen to me once as well. Luckily I just called the bank and they cleared it up for me I was done in like 15 minutes without the massive freak out and canceling everything

I didn't register a move there, because I wasn't using it that much and I'd rather get mail and stuff to my old address. I got mail to the new apartment from previous tenants that hadn't changed their subscription addresses. Until I got something with my full name and the apartment address that I hadn't used for anything, a subscription I hadn't used. After checking with the mail company and the police, that didn't help at all, and after several calls to the company they divulged that it was a long term customer that had gotten an updated address. Someone with my exact name had moved from a place in the region of my apartment to another region and someone in the mail company had added my address to that person. I called the person and we had an fun but awkward conversation, but everything worked out in the end. They hadn't gotten any mail intended to me, but I had gotten some mail intended to them. Forwarded it for free through the mail company, since they had made the error, so it didn't cost me anything other than a couple of hours of panic. Hopefully everything goes smoothly for you Squidinkidink, that you can enjoy your holiday in a somewhat peaceful way forwards.
