So this year I've started reading again and I'm rediscovering the joy of reading. So I'm exited to follow you here as well and perhaps get new book ideas and keep being inspired to read. :D Thank you~
Cari i'm so excited!! this feels like i've joined a book club and on fridays we'll have cozy meetings where we can talk about books, drink coffee and tea and eat biscuits ☕📖 our own little book society!
Omg your librarian mom sounds like the bestttt. Also I totally relate to having TONS of books- we have like 10 in our living room alone and it’s my favorite thing to see people’s reactions
I totally agree with you about the uniqueness of books expanding your mind and visualizing what's happening instead of watching it on a screen. Welcome to the community and I can't wait to see more from you :)
Honestly loved your book content on your main channel, but I totally understand the limitations of not having a dedicated space to talk abt all things book-related. Sooo excited that you've joined the Booktube community!! Can't wait to hear you gush about books unapologetically! :)
Aw this is so cute! I just started a Booktube (just uploaded my first video) and I didn't think of this!! Can't wait to find my way within the Booktube community, love you!
I love your energy, even through the screen, you seem like such a serene and peaceful person. I also loveeee the sun lit reading nook that overlooks the sky line...such a perfect place to read!
YAY! This was the perfect way to start my morning. I can relate to not wanting to feel pressure regarding reading and the joy it brings me, however connecting with other readers is so inspiring so I'm sure you will have a wonderful time. Don't stress about having to be something you are not! I have been managing a book store for 14 years, and my love has not diminished, if anything connecting with other readers has truly opened my eyes to so many genres I would have never originally picked up. Already looking forward to next Friday!
Just like you I used to be an avid reader since I can remember, but then depression took over my life and suddenly getting through 2-3 books a year was a struggle. One day you talked about Pachinko and I knew I had to read it. This changed everything for me because it moved me so much I remembered the joy books can bring, and how good of an escape they are. I found that family sagas and historical fiction, especially combined, are my two most loved genres and I was able to discover so many more amazing books just because of that one recommendation of yours, so thank you for that and good luck with your new channel! Hope books never fail to inspire you not only when it comes to making videos but also your art and dreams. Super excited to see you grow.
I love your taste in books. It's the main reason I discovered your other channel. Murakami et al. I've actually taken many of your reading suggestions and have thoroughly enjoyed them. I have been surviving the pandemic by reading/ listening to audiobooks. And it's daunting to try and figure out new books to read. So, finding someone who has great taste in books is a godsend. I really appreciate this.
I would love a chance to discuss books read with you and your followers. In the case of Murakami, no one I know in my own circle of friends that I regularly talk to has read Murakami. I have lots of thoughts and questions I want to bounce off someone who has read him, but I don't have that opportunity. I don't know how that can be done. Maybe pick a book and ask for discussion questions? I don't know. So many questions....
Thank you always! I need to figure out how to cover murakami because i feel like his work is so hard to talk about? I always feel like i am just reading a dream 😂 but I’ll try!!!
you talking about why you like to read and how much it means to you makes me want to starting reading again! i just finished six of crows and its the first series in a long time that i didnt feel indifferent about. but i got so attached to it that i’m finding it hard to start another book. but hearing you talk about reading makes me remember why i love it so much and how there are so many more worlds to discover!!! so thank you so much :))
I started watching your other yt channel as a recommendation from a friend and honestly it made me re-arrange myself again and find routines. I started reading again just this year (after YEARS of not even picking up a book) and I couldn’t be happier!! Much MUCH love
I've never watched a single video of yours until this popped up in my recommended. i am so glad to see such a positive person join the community, I'm so excited to watch more of your content
Never heard of "Booktube" as a concept so I'm excited to see what you do here! Have you ever read Cormac McCarthy? If not, check out The Road. It's about a father and son traveling through a post-apocalyptic America. It's very dark but beautifully written in his unique minimalist style. There's a reason it won the Pulitzer!
i have been binge watching cari can read and cari cakes vlog so much that i literally cannot separate work and nonwork now. your videos are literally all i want to watch and hear in the background. i am struggling so much. lol :D
Went to your channel to check out more of your content and instantly subscribed and turned on notifications when I saw all your videos have CC. I relate so much to you talking about how you're both an introvert and an extrovert and how it come and goes in waves. I am like that too! It's kind of exhausting to be like all or nothing and it's hard to keep a balance... but enough about me, I actually just wanted to leave a comment and tell you how much I enjoy your videos! You seem like a really sweet and creative person and I'm looking forward to follow you! It's also my dream to visit Korea so the fact that you live there just makes me even more interested in your videos ♥️
I just had to comment when I saw the books you’ve read. I have read more than had of the YAs you listed, but I was way more excited when I saw your adult fantasy reads! Rivers of London is one of my favorites! I’ve read all 7 novels in the series currently out and absolutely love, not only the magic system and lore, but how well the author knows London (one of my favorite cities). His description of places and architecture make you feel transported! Can’t wait to watch your other bookish videos!
Aww I'm so glad youtube recommended you! I've been considering joining booktube but the quality of new booktubers like you is so high, low key intimidated! Really can't want to see what you make!

So happy to see you thriving in this new dedicated space!! I've been in a reading slump recently, but hopefully watching more of your book videos will get me rollin again :)
i started to follow you because of your murakami cafes video and so seeing you here now with a booktube channel has me fully losing it!! i'm so excited for this journey with you, i can't wait to see what creative videos you get up to and to see you have a lot of fun! books are the best topic forever 💓
proud of you for making this channel despite being a little nervous about it! im so excited to see the content you post on here, but already just the combination of my favourite youtuber and books makes me so happy, anything you do from now on is really just an added bonus
I've followed you from Cari Cakes, but also yay for another booktuber to follow :) I am a big reader and have to say the quarantine did wonders for my Goodreads goal, as I already reached my goal of 62 and we are literally only half way through the year!
I am so so so so excited about this channel! You’re the reason I’ve started reading on my iPad. I usually buy books in bulk lol but I’ve been renting ebooks from the library and it’s saved me tons. ❤️❤️
Yes yes yes, FINALLY!!!!! I can't wait for more videos. Also I relate so hard to the whole "low threshold for how much communication you can have per day" Love you tons
i love what you said about not letting booktube affect your reading love. it’s something i’m always conscious of as well. and what you said about your threshold for interaction! exact same! 😪 i’m so glad to see this channel and i’m excited for all of your future videos!! 💗💗💗
wow i am so excited?? i really enjoy watching your videos because of you as a person, you seem to be so genuine and a nice person to know and now on top of that, hello book lover! i've already been following you on goodreads since one of your last bookish videos and can't wait for more content on this channel, especially since you seem to read books that i enjoy too would love to see a mid year book freak out :)
Excited for more book content!!!! Was a bit confused when I opened the app and saw it came out 10 hours ago and realised the time this video comes up is at night instead of morning which I’m used to from caricakes ahahaha
bahaha im thinking of switching it to my usual posting time because i didnt go to sleep until 1am cause i was too excited answering comments hahaha 10pm isnt going to work for me LOL
I was introduced to your main channel by the first book favorites video you made and I’ve been obsessed since! I’m so glad you’re making this channel bc I’m always looking forward to your book videos, love you 💕
I'm hoping your reading channel gets me out of the reading slump I am currently in! I'm so excited for you and this channel Cari and I'm already patiently waiting for the next video :)
welcome to booktube!!! six of crows really is that amazing. i read little fires everywhere and thought it was overhyped, but i think i should give everything i never told you a chance.
just wanted to say thankyou for creating such beautiful content on your main channel and now on this channel. you honestly inspire me and i bet you bring joy and even a safe space not only to me but many others. i truly hope you stay happy, inspired and creative💛
Cari congrats!!! So happy to have my favorite RUclipsr on BookTube. I love reading but haven't really been able to focus on it so maybe now I can get into it again. Congrats on your first video on BookTube!!! Lots of love.❤❤❤❤
I'm so excited you started this new channel!!! I love seeing you talking about books, you seem so passionate and happy!!! And I love your recommendations too, so it's a win-win situation hahaha I'm excited to see more videos here (and in the other channel too, ofc)!!
I love watching your other RUclips channel and I also love booktube so I was pretty excited when I found out you were doing this! Wish you all the best with this new channel :)
Yaaay!! This is so exciting. Congrats on your first upload to this channel 😊Six of Crows is spectacular. I LOVED it. How did you feel about Educated?? (It's one of my favourites so far this year).
Thank you!!! and I went into it expecting something much different but I really liked it (even though tbh once she got into all the wild good schools for higher edu i got bored? somehow haha) but definitely a eye opening read!!
i am so excited to watch your videos, you have such a calming voice and personality it’s so refreshing! cant wait to watch you settle into the book community!
yay cari! I'm so excited to be getting more book content! I got into so many cool books and authors because of your videos on your caricakes channel. I read a ton of chick-lit/ easily consumable fluff and I have to recommend Sophie Kinsella as a great starter author. She's most famous for her "Confessions of a Shopaholic" series, but my personal favourite of hers (that got me into this bubblegum rabbit hole) is "I've Got Your Number." Good tidings on your new channel!
Hello! I can really relate to how you explained your introverted capacity for interactions. 😊 I enjoyed Everything I Never Told You as well, and I’ve heard great things about Six of Crows!
Aaaaaaggghh!!! I am so so so excited for this channel! I love your main channel, your editing style and your content and I really loved your book suggestions while in quarantine! You are amazing!
I'm so excited for this!! Since the rona started i've been looking at screens/socials for far too long so getting back into reading sounds A+ right now and you always have the best book recs!
Watching you talk about books brings me so much joy!!! I would recommend to you "The Secret History" by Donna Tartt (my favourite book), it's a mystery thriller mixed with dark academia and it's just amazing. Also, if you liked "There There" you should read "A Little Life", just as you said, this book is one of my favourites this year but I didn't enjoy reading it because it's real, raw, sad and overall beautifully heartbreaking. x
omg i actually just started secret history but its sooo hard for me to get into hahah i think it reminds me too much of the snooty kids at my university that i hated LOL and i tried really a little life but i dont think i was in the right mind space so I will try it again soon!! i've heard nothing but amazing things!!
I'm so excited for this channel!!! I couldn't have subscribed faster. I wanted to ask you, Cari, have you ever thought about starting a Discord server for your watchers? There are so many great Discord servers out there, and I think it would be lovely to have a community place where people can chat about your videos, share music/art/recipes, and talk about Korea, and books, of course! You seem to have an amazing group of people follow you, and it would be incredible to have them all together!!
thank you so much and i've actually never even seen a discord server even though i've heard of them! I'll have to look into it and understand it better but maybe in the future, it sounds great!!
@@caricanread that sounds awesome! One of my favorite podcasts called Be The Serpent (a lovely bookish podcast by 3 fantasy authors, 2 women + 1 non-binary person) has a Discord community and it's full of lgbtq+ people who are really supportive and there is a lot of easy chatter about books and writing and tv and cooking and all the good stuff!
I'm really excited about your future adventures on this channel! 💛 The way you described There There by Tommy Orange screamed A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara to me! I haven't read There There but it sounds like something I'd want to read. Thank you for the recommendations~ ⁕
Gahhhhh I’m so so excited for this!!! 💖 I highly recommend The Far Field by Madhuri Vijay if you haven’t read it yet. I think its a pretty strong debut novel and it’s very emotional and beautifully written, I really recommend listening to the audiobook specifically!
Cari, your other channel brought me here and I'm super happy to see you so excited about this new adventure you're on! :) Thanks for always making such enjoyable content!!! Love your videos! ♥
Yay! Welcome to the community Cari! I love your other channel too. And I also can only handle so much interaction per day before i just stop all communication 😅
hi, hello, cant wait to see you’re next video! gosh i have to say it, i could listen to u 24/7, your voice is so calming, i loooove how you’re talking about books, plus damn you’re so beautiful! goodluck with your channel love (wish i had a courage to start my own), gonna be here every friday 💚
So surreal to see a RUclipsr I've been watching for a long time come over to booktube ♥️
i couldn't let you guys have all the fun without me!!
The two of you have been my favorites for a long time and now it's all coming together!
OMG Cindy hiiii 💖💖, you're here and your awesome, love uuu 😌🥰💜💜
I am sensing a collab... (waiting). :)

Six of Crows brought my love of fantasy back to life! And yes, I was pleasantly surprised with Everything I Never Told You!

I have always enjoyed your videos on the books you have read on your other channel, so it was a nice surprise to find this new channel!!!
thank youuuuu!
Some books I recommend are: The Fifth Season by N. K. Jemisin, The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller and Kings of the Wyld by Nicholas Eames!
This sososo exciting!!! Yay for Cari, can't wait to watch the videos on this channel in the future!
thank you!!! i cant wait either hahaah
yay cari! I'm so excited to be getting more book content! I got into so many cool books and authors because of your videos on your caricakes channel. I read a ton of chick-lit/ easily consumable fluff and I have to recommend Sophie Kinsella as a great starter author. She's most famous for her "Confessions of a Shopaholic" series, but my personal favourite of hers (that got me into this bubblegum rabbit hole) is "I've Got Your Number." Good tidings on your new channel!
thank you so so much!!!
Hello! I can really relate to how you explained your introverted capacity for interactions. 😊 I enjoyed Everything I Never Told You as well, and I’ve heard great things about Six of Crows!
six of crows cracked my love of fantasy right back open, it was wild! definitely get that high up on your TBR list hehe
cari can read I just ordered it 😇
Aaaaaaggghh!!! I am so so so excited for this channel! I love your main channel, your editing style and your content and I really loved your book suggestions while in quarantine! You are amazing!
😭🙏 thank you!!!
@@caricanread Your welcome!!!
When you're a longtime subscriber to Cari AND an avid reader. It's a win for me
I'm so excited for this!! Since the rona started i've been looking at screens/socials for far too long so getting back into reading sounds A+ right now and you always have the best book recs!
yes!!!! plus books are such good escapism :')
not gonna lie, i kind of screamed when i saw the folk of the air series and a whole list of ya books omg i immediately subscribed!
oh hoho then you'll definitely need to see my next video ;)
I’ve always adored your book content so I’m so excited for this wee corner of the internet 🥰
thank youuuuuu!
Love your main channel *and* BookTube so much! I'm so excited for this (although we have such different reading tastes 😅)!
hehehe thank you so so much!!
SO excited for the content, discovered the grishaverse bc of you and also got back into reading a lot :))
YESSSSSS
I can’t wait to have book conversations and recommendations 🥰 so excited for this new community!
hehehhe im so excited too!!!
OMG this is amazing that you join our corner!!! Love having you here! Welcome!
Watching you talk about books brings me so much joy!!! I would recommend to you "The Secret History" by Donna Tartt (my favourite book), it's a mystery thriller mixed with dark academia and it's just amazing. Also, if you liked "There There" you should read "A Little Life", just as you said, this book is one of my favourites this year but I didn't enjoy reading it because it's real, raw, sad and overall beautifully heartbreaking. x
omg i actually just started secret history but its sooo hard for me to get into hahah i think it reminds me too much of the snooty kids at my university that i hated LOL and i tried really a little life but i dont think i was in the right mind space so I will try it again soon!! i've heard nothing but amazing things!!
so glad you made this channel!! very excited for the upcoming book content ! 💗
💕💕💕
Welcome to booktube, Cari! I'm excited for this new project and i hope all goes well. It was a lovely video!
thank you so so much!!
One of my favorite podcasts called Be The Serpent (a lovely bookish podcast by 3 fantasy authors, 2 women + 1 non-binary person) has a Discord community and it's full of lgbtq+ people who are really supportive and there is a lot of easy chatter about books and writing and tv and cooking and all the good stuff!
omg!! I just found your channel recently and i'm loving it so far!
Thank you 🙏🙏🙏
completely loving this new channel ❤️❤️❤️❤️
thank youuuuuu!!!
Yesss !!! I've been waiting for this ! Cari and books!?!!! Sign me up!! 😚👌💞
thank youuuu :')
I'm really excited about your future adventures on this channel! 💛
The way you described There There by Tommy Orange screamed A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara to me! I haven't read There There but it sounds like something I'd want to read. Thank you for the recommendations~ ⁕
Hope you get a chance to read it!!! Thank you💕
Gahhhhh I’m so so excited for this!!! 💖 I highly recommend The Far Field by Madhuri Vijay if you haven’t read it yet. I think its a pretty strong debut novel and it’s very emotional and beautifully written, I really recommend listening to the audiobook specifically!
ohhhh looking it up right now thank you!!!
Cari, your other channel brought me here and I'm super happy to see you so excited about this new adventure you're on! :)
Thanks for always making such enjoyable content!!!
