      I don't think Mae is immune, her ancestors, along with others in bunkers, were just never exposed to the virus during the outbreak so they never got infected to begin with. Some may not even be immune to it, but because they were never exposed they survived anyway.. the virus was airborne, and unless it's still airborne 300 years later then they wouldn't get infected now..
      I don't think the mute humans are breathing in the airborne virus, the virus and its mutation have just been genetically passed down to them from their ancestors..

      I believe Noa spotted a Human spaceship from another civilization in space. It was evident that Mae was shocked when she observed the same thing noa saw from the same position as the telescope later. Thats why this led her to continue with her plans to kill Proximus because she knew that humans are up there, and been there for almost 400 years. In fact, you could see at the end of the movie that Noa looks up again, realizing that war is coming and he needs to prepare his apes for years before the humans arrive, as they are equipped with more advanced gun technology and ships.

    I think this new franchise will try adapting both the original 1968 & Beneath from the original, just like how the Andy Serjis Caesar trilogy adapted the Conquest & Battle... Escape could its own trilogy, or a one off movie but regardless, it seems like Escape might be the finale of this rebooted franchise...

    • @yumallah

      I think it's going to be 1973's Battle for the Planet of the Apes instead... so far the premise we have seems more similar to Battle out of any of the original movies. The intelligent humans from the base seem more similar to Battle's 'proto-mutants' than the actual mutants from Beneath. And the astronauts will definitely not reach Earth in the next movie... still too early for that. The original movie took place almost 2000 years from the outbreak of the virus, and here it's just 300 years. The apes are not nearly advanced enough and the humans are not primitive enough for the vibe of the 1968 movie to be replicated.

    This cave has nothing to do with the cave in the original PotA. The two franchises are not part of the same cinematic universe. It was simply a nostalgic nod to the original films.
    It is really becoming frustrating for me to continue seeing people mistake these new films for prequels to the originals. I mean, do you people even watch any of these films? The original film had one in-universe sequel (Beneath), one in-universe sequel/prequel (Escape), and two in-universe prequels (Conquest and Battle). That original saga came to an end with Battle, folks. Also, the tv series that came out in 1975 was a standalone story in the form of a soft serialized remake of the original film.
    These new films are an entirely new reimagining and rebooting of the Planet of the Apes mythos, then. They've taken the Caesar character from the original films and have given him a whole new origin story, thus also the same for the mythos itself.
    Seriously, do your home work, folks.

      @premodernprejudices3027 The fact thar the Apes in these more recent movies, were never genetically engineered to be slaves? Should make that quite obvious. "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" (2011) was a reworking of "Conquest of the Planet of the Apes" 1972. (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes 2014) and War for the Planet of the Apes 2017), both contained certain elements of Battle for the Planet of the Apes 1973. But overall they were their own thing. Although "Koba" the treacherous Bonobo from Dawn of the Planet of the Apes...Was very similar to the militia Gorilla "General Aldo". form Battle. I don't know if you are aware of this or not? But the original 1968 "The Planet of the Apes" film was based on (Pierre Boulle's 1963 French Sci-Fi novel La Planète des singes), translated into English as {Planet of the Apes}.The main story of the original 1968 movie was basically the same. As well as central characters such as (Cornelius, Zira and Dr. Zaius) are all from the 1963 novel. However, on of the key differences is that in the novel is that the Apes are "technically advanced". Unlike that of the 1968 film. If (Wes Ball and Josh Friedman) at some point intend to do a more loyal film adaptation of Pierre Boulle's 1963 novel is unknown at this time? But I would certainly like to see that!

    One thing that struck me was the ape characters all seemed to have a lot more depth. I don’t know if it’s because of the advancements in motion capture, but the ape facial expressions were so realistic. But I thought there were some questionable decisions made by the characters, principally Mae blowing up the dam and the apes all just waiting for the water to flood them while the less agile human simply ran a few feet to a safe platform that was huge and large enough to accommodate much of the clan. Also, Noa not seeming to be too bothered about Mae drowning his clan when she turned up at the village seemed a bit strange. I think she had the gun ready because she was prepared for a far more hostile response as opposed to showing up with the express purpose of assassinating Noa.

      She didn’t mean to drown Noa & his clan tho. She only wanted to destroy what was inside the vault with the water so that way Proximus can’t get any stronger to then really wipe aka kill us humans & taking over pretty much the whole planet earth. What was inside the vault like tanks & guns etc was far too deadly/powerful for Proximus to have hence why she did what she did. Plus she climbed with Noa & came in the back way so she knew there was a way out for Noa & his clan & all they had to do was climb. That was not her intention to drown Noa & his clan & if some of his clan died from drowning then it was a necessary risk to take in order to destroy all those tanks & guns. Great analysis in bringing it all together. I'm excited. The movie was good for me but not better than the latest trilogy. However, this movie will be looked at and get better with time if the set up plays out into the upcoming movies. People will look back at this and view it as an intelligent set up. I so badly want to see this get to icarus crash landing. We've been waiting since the Easter eggs from the first set of movies.

    super excited with the direction. I feel like this trilogy will end with how the 1968 film began. Especially with Raka, an orangutan, being the smartest of the all, Sylva, a gorilla, a brute general and Noa, a chimpanzee, learning to have compassion for humans. Would love a twist being that once Caesar died, Maurice began to twist the history of apes so that Orangutans will become the next leader of apes.

    Just saw Kingdom and it's really great although I was originally hoping Mae was a new version of Taylor from the Icarus, I'm not 100% on board with the survivors idea yet, it gives me Beneath/Battle vibes so I don't hate it but I feel that the Icarus returning later doesn't quite fit now, and just had the thought that how would astronauts from the past deal with the virus? Apart from that I loved so much of the film and look forward to seeing where it goes!

  • @HerrEllsworth
    @HerrEllsworth 8 дней назад +1

    I still believe that no astronauts will be returning, at least not in this particular trilogy. It's only been three hundred years since the downfall of humanity and the ape civilization still needs to develop more so that there will be a greater confrontation once the Icarus does return to Earth. For this trilogy, the focus will likely remain on the tense relationship between the apes and humans.

    Remember, in the ordinal trilogy, Apes came to their sentience because of constant human interaction. After all other "pets" died out from a different virus, apes became the new pets. Fast forward, apes rebel, Humans hit the big red button. This is where the first original movie starts.

      @zr0fluxxx452 Supposedly "Raka" will be revealed as "The Lawgiver" in the next film as well. In case your not familiar with that character? He is an Orangutan who is looked upon as a Prophet/Deity by the Apes. He was first briefly described in Pierre Boulle's 1963 French Sci-Fi novel La Planète des singes) Planet of the Apes..By the main protagonist "Ulysse Merou" as an ( Christ like figure) of the Apes. He was mentioned and quoted in the first two movies of the series, (Planet of the Apes 1968 and Beneath the Planet of the Apes 1970). He was only portrayed once in the final classic Apes film, in "Battle for the Planet of the Apes" 1973. When he was played by actor-director "John Huston".

I have been watching all things Planet of the Apes for my own channel and I am certain this new series is replicating the original series of films in a more linear way. Rise, Dawn, and War retold Escape, Conquest, and Battle while Kingdom and what comes after is retelling Beneath and the original Planet film. I am hoping the final film is actually just titled Planet of the Apes and basically brings the story full circle. I am so damn pumped I can’t wait!!

    If you take a moment and just focus on the scenery (absolutely beautiful), it reminds me so much of Horizon Zero Dawn. All that is missing are the machines. Even the bunker scene and the apes reaction to ancient artifacts is reminiscent of Aloy discovering an Old Ones bunker and the secrets that lie within. Definitely gives HZD vibes. If they make a HZD series, I really hope it’s as beautiful as this because this movie was masterfully shot.

    I can't believe mae is like to noa. I came to say goodbye like she really cared about him and wanted to make sure he was okay before she left. And when he basically asks "do you think apes and humans can live side by side" but in other words he's basically saying "do you think apes and humans could accept eachother and respect eachother and live in the same world together" and mae is like "I dont know" and then you see her holding a gun behind her back she was ready to blow his head off and I didn't expect it at all 😂 like girl you've just played the apes that tried to help you. Ceaser was good at judging a character because every human he trusted actually proved that they could be trusted!

    • @Grimmjow19872
      @Grimmjow19872 21 день назад +1

      Yea that’s what I was thinking too. For me, Mae was the real villain in the movie. She didn’t care about the apes when you flooding the vault. Proxuis didn’t kill any of the apes he captured. He wanted all apes to stand together. I believe in the next movies it going to be either humans killing off all the apes and restarting the world or apes ending all humans for good.

    • @joecasey7912
      @joecasey7912 21 день назад +2

      @@Grimmjow19872 exactly!! Watching it I think I realised, it's us humans that are the villains. I know it's just a movie but noa begged her not to destroy the vault because it will injure and maybe kill his clan and she still did it, putting them all in danger. I was actually waiting while thinking, maybe she'll come and help them too tho like if this was one of the humans ceaser trusted and they did this, they'd definitely come and help straight after as like an apology or forgiveness. With mae I really didn't think she cared and she had a gun. When noa was fighting that huge ape before be drowned, I thought she was going to help. Then when proximus appeared and he was beating up poor noa 😢 nobody helped him at first when he was getting beat up, not even his mum or the other apes. I feel like he was the next ceaser if anything, he was smarter than the other apes, earned respect, cared about the other apes. But they all did nothing. The thing that makes it even worse is that mae had a gun 🔫 and before noa was getting thrown around she shot that other ape and he died almost instantly. So I thought her taking the gun was a sign that she'll come and save noa and she will use noa. But no, he saved himself which is why he deserves to be the next ceaser. And another thing, she didn't even need to destroy the vault and put them all in danger. Even though proximus wanted the other guns left there, he wouldn't of ruled the world for very long because what mae came for was more important anyway and was stronger than any gun, he gave her the chance to leave too. She could have left with the hard drive 💾 and then returned to help. Weather he got the guns or not he wouldn't have had them for long, because what mae gave the humans was powerful enough to overpower proximus!! Mae also told noa that it was a book that teachers humans how to speak and communicate, so she lied. She really did play noa, wanting to he his friend basically and then betraying him. It was also her fault as to why raka got swepped away by the current. Mae really showed what humans are like of today in real life. Even though the apes ran the world on the movie. I really felt for the apes when they learnt that humans used to run it and dominate the apes, but it was sad when they learnt humans weren't so kind to them. Humans are scared of apes but I feel like in comparison, humans have done more to hurt apes than the other way around. Like in the very first movie when the ape (ceasers mum) is kidnapped from the forest in broad daylight. If apes where aloud to have their space and live in the wild back then they could've lived side by side to humans and none of this would've happened. In the next one, humans are definitely going to come together to take out the apes and there going to try and get the world back to the way it was. But if I'm honest, I would prefer the apes to win!! But I definitely agree, mae ended up as the villain. Noa literally went through soo much on this film so I hope in the next one we see him as there leader!!!!
