    Happy Friday everyone! We apologize for uploading our RAV4 Prime video a few days late but we didn't get the car until after the July 1st embargo. Hopefully, our review was worth the wait, this is a Hybrid that will change a lot of enthusiast's perception of hybrid vehicles. We have no doubt that Toyota will sell as many as they can build.

      This guy deeply hates Toyota and makes everything Hyundai/ Kia looks impressive even the most horrible ones. Two months ago in his video "2020 Kia Telluride vs. Toyota Highlander", the introductory picture (Kia Telluride is occupying the way and Toyota Highlander is on the sideline) is telling volume about his leaning toward the Kia/Hyundai brand. Two months before that, he went on trying to convince us that "Hyundai & Kia is rising in America. I have nothing against him being paid to promote a particular brand, but he should be honest with viewers by telling them what he is doing and why he is doing it.

      I have a Toyota FJ cruiser with 230k miles on it. I also have a model 3. Both are great cars, but the Tesla is the future. There does not need to be a transition. Hybrids IMHO is a waste of time. It costs more to build , way more complex, dosent really offer any real world advantage over an ICE car. The cost savings in gas won't outweigh the cost difference in the purchase price of the car for most people.

Plus in some areas in the world, the infrastructure for electric charging is just not there yet. The range of these hybrids is FAR superior to any battery electric vehicle right now.
      And to say hybrids dont have a real world advantage over ICE is false. The fuel economy of a hybrid vehicle is amazing compared to an ice car. The new Toyota highlander hybrid can get 30mpg CITY. Thats right, CITY. That is game changing for a large, three row SUV

      @@ciello___8307 @Skye Higa I agree with you 100%. Can a Hybrid car like this one, challenge a Tesla car for a travel across the US? See if mpg translates to the electric consumption, and the convenience of driving. And the faster it gets to destination. Tesla needs some time to fully charge it and there is nothing much charging stations available on tollways. You would need to take the exit, and find a charger. I think the plug-in hybrid powertrain is optimal at this point in time. It saves significant gasoline, but eliminates the three problems with full EVs: 1) range anxiety, 2) excessively-long charging times, and 3) finding working charge stations.

    • @wzDH106
      @wzDH106 4 года назад

      Robert Ehlers
      Range anxiety isn’t an issue with 250-350 mile EVs. However, it is absolutely an issue on road trips where DC charging infrastructure is still few and far between. I’d argue issues 1 and 2 are unfounded, or at least a byproduct of issue number 3. Taking a rest stop for 20-40 minutes after driving for 2-3 hours is not much of an inconvenience, and will usually fall in line with similar refueling, rest and food stops for gasoline powered vehicles on long trips.
      We recently tested my assumption using a Niro EV. In all charging scenarios we didn’t feel as if we were waiting for charging to complete. The last stop happened to be at a 50 kW station and indeed needed 40 minutes to make it home, but after eating lunch and visiting the restrooms we were juiced up enough to make the last leg. Planning is most definitely necessary at this point, at least around DC fast chargers. But as more stations arrive planning will subside.

      Correct, sounds like a unique car but he probably never heard of it, I never heard of it until now. Mainly because I think it mostly sold overseas in any numbers, not here. I can't find how many Crown Hybrid cars were produced, but you're right, it had similar performance to Prime as he referenced 5.4 from a Car and Driver test. Per Wikipedia: "Crown Hybrid has been estimated to take 5.4 seconds due to the additional power of the hybrid motor."

    This is definitely the first of MANY these to come to the market. No gas mode for most of people's daily commutes, suv, and the hp and torque all of us crave but most sacrifice on. The interesting balance battle to watch will be the demand of them versus how much in total incentives the gov is willing to give.

Only charging and electronics cooling equipment is under the rear seat. Toyota guarantees the battery for 10 years or 150,000 miles, although anecdotaly I would expect them to last longer than that. When they do reach end of life, the batteries can be recycled. I believe Toyota actually pays scrapyards a couple hundred dollars to send the batteries in to be recycled. It isn't profitable to send something that valuable to a landfill, so there are pretty good incentives to keep these batteries out of landfills.
