    This explains why I thought the PS3 controller was so good, I felt the sticks were "more precise" for me compared to a 360 controller, or even PS4

      Pretty wild that a controller can completely shift perception of whether or not a game/console is good.

    My favourite controller is a Gulikit KingKong2 I bought a while back. It lets you determine whether you want a hardware deadzone or no deadzone whatsoever, just by pressing a button combo on the controller. And because of the joystick technology it uses, having 0 deadzone is actually feasible

      That's is awesome! Back when i bought most of my 3rd party controllers, i didn't have much extra income so i got cheapos as you could see in the video lol it was a small blessing though since i used these to test my game dev projects and found out about this issue since built in/hardware level deadzones is a fairly unknown issue. At least relatively speaking

      @@SethFunk That's absolutely true. My only controller used to be a hand-me-down Logitech F310 (i think that's one you have & show in the video) and I didn't realize the deadzone was that bad on it! I always assumed it was the same as the first party ones.

      @@stefansuch1588 It's such a easy thing to overlook. I mean as a consumer, you would expect a controller made for "x" would act the same as all other controllers for "x". But I guess the saying "you get, what you pay for" is popular for a reason.

    I have 2 cheap controllers that I've got from different local brands, sourced the parts from China. Brand A have quite a big deadzone and felt unpleasant to move my character in games that have walk-run ability, especially trying to walk in circles. Brand B have almost no deadzone at all and is really nice at doing a circle walk, but the catch is that stick would sometime glitch and jitter, then eventually the stick itself would start to drift.
    Now I'm ordering another brand and this one will have hall effect analog sticks and I hope it's gonna be the best of both worlds 😤

      I hope you the best of luck. A good controller can make a huge impact on game feel!

      100% It's funny to think I have had this controller for over a decade. Only recently started using it again due to the ease of use of plugging it in for a quick play test of my games, but the deadzone issue is just too much. That's actually why I created this video

    Or get a hall effect controllers

      But they still have deadzones

    • @SkyuliVun
      @SkyuliVun Месяц назад +1

      not all hall effect controllers are the same. Some have truly zero deadzones, some still have built-in deadzones. The Qrd Spark N5 for example is a hall effect controller with axial deadzones.

    • @stefansuch1588
      @stefansuch1588 Месяц назад +1

      @@smokeyjoseph1790 on mine, at least, you can disable the hardware deadzone by pressing a button combo. it's so comically accurate that when you put even a little pressure vertically onto the stick it'll register whatever horizontal force you're incidentally applying to it

    I had F310 and F710 controllers and boy they are terrible. And deadzones are just part of the problem - entire controller is a problem. Triggers are terrible and imprecise, materials are bad and batteries in the F710 are held way too loose so it's almost sure as hell will fall apart.
