    Thanks for the tutorial. The strumming pattern sounds just like the original version. But on my concert ukulele the G string sounds a lot higher than yours so it doesn't seem to work well as the base note. Any ideas why?

    • @StevenEspaniola
      @StevenEspaniola  7 лет назад

      Quang Tran aloha and thx for the comment!! Yes you really do need to have a lower G string when replicating this particular strum. The thicker gauge really emphasizes that much needed bass pattern. The high G doesn't really give the same effect. Really simple to swap out if you want to experiment. You can buy low G singles online.

    You are talented, but like most tutorials on this song, everyones off on the strum pattern , just doesnt sound the same as Iz....BUT I found a video that was the best by far, he doesnt mute the strings, but by far the closest sounding , and the strum pattern he does is slightly different than everyone else, he starts with an up stroke, check it out link below and dare to compare to Iz and everyone esle, he's the closest sounding, it just flows better. (and if you dont have a low G, just hit "C" 2nd string & it sound very close to a low G.

      Thx for the observation...it's actually the exact same strum but includes that ghost pickup beat on the upstroke. If you listen to IZ's recording he does that in the intro then reverts to my strum during the body of the song. In actuality, there really shouldn't be that much thought put into the strum...it should come from the soul and should feel natural. Mahalo!

      With respect you are a very-very talented artist, but your title says "PLAY LIKE IZ", i took the time to learn your strum pattern and rhythm. I tried to play along with IZ and definitely not the same, IZ's rhythm is faster, you may say your strum patterns exact, but it's not, just play his song along with yours, it's off, you sound great BUT I want to play it like IZ did, as close as possible.
      If you believe you can PLAY LIKE IZ, Im sure you are talented enough to do it - then i challenge you (with total respect) to do another youtube video when you have time and sing/play more lyrics on your tutorial like the other guy did, you'll be the closest version tutorial of this song on youtube. That would be absolutely awesome, I'd love to watch it & even improve from it.
      But right now the closest tutorial for PLAYING LIKE IZ is: ruclips.net/video/A-psZvNTSz4/видео.html . Not that he's the better uke player or singer, BUT he took the time and got it right in relation to PLAYING LIKE IZ, which i really appreciated, because now I can PLAY "almost" LIKE IZ. Laki maikaʻi!

      @@rickgomez9841 Respectfully disagree. First note of the 4/4 measure is a down stroke with the thumb that comes in on the 1st count.

    not the easiest lesson to follow think Cynthia is a much better teacher, you would do well to check out the way she puts a lesson together, then learn to teach properly
