Great update and good cleanup of the forks. It's always good seeing homemade tools in use. Thanks for the shout-out (again!), and you are most welcome and well deserving of the support. All the best 👍

@retromechanicalengineer managed to beat the crank to a shade over 2 thou one side and 1 thou the other.......don't think im going to get it any better, convinced one of the crank pin holes is machined on the wonk

@@TweedsGarage that sounds like more than near enough. Very good in fact. Are the flywheels within 4 thou? They can vibrate quite badly if they are out.

@retromechanicalengineer i need to check , i think they are within spec clocking the rims but fat chance on the side faces ( hence suspicion of crooked holes )

Nice job Dean, I like your homemade tool, and it worked great. I have had several fork tubes hard chromed and turned down. Just like original when done. Man you are getting close to that 1000, awesome!

The heavy weight forks look brilliant in the frame, much better than the spindly lightweight alternative. I like your idea of having machined inverted cups to take the tops of the rubber gaiters. I had the same idea last year and have made a pair in steel rather than aluminium, the projecting flange over which the gaiter fits needs to be quite thin and may be vulnerable in a trials environment. Looking forward to more videos in this series. 👍

Hi Dean, I would be getting those stanchions to the chrome platers ASAP, the EU has plans to ban hexavalent chromium from 2024!
Good luck with the subs and thanks for the mention! Ian

Thanks Bones. It's about £180-220 I think. A pair of pattern stanchions is about £100. Hope you are doing well, best wishes, Dean.
