This great lady has that almost undefinable touch of sweet pathos given to only a few of the great sopranos and mezzos. It knocks me out. There are a few others who affect me the same way, yet I cannot put a name to it. (Gheorghiu, Von Stade, Albanese, for example.)
It’s not the gorgeous voice I’m worried about so much as that over-romantically slushy solo violinist. Though perhaps with Dame Janet singing like that (even as she does go rather sharp at times!) it’s inevitably going to be a bit of a wallow.
Gorgeous! What a fabulous musician Dame Janet is.

Erbarme dich, mein Gott,
Um meiner Zähren willen!
Schaue hier, Herz und Auge
Weint vor dir bitterlich.
Erbarme dich, mein Gott.
The intonation is off, too sharp!
sasha42196 Sounds okay to me, maybe at bit off at times though.
