Most of the comments here are focused on the singer, or the music itself, which are indeed very beautiful, but let’s not forget the violinist in this video, Satomi Watanabe, who passed away last year. I am so glad she was able to make this video before she left us

It just does not get better than this. I have been a life long lover of Bach and choral singer. I was truly lucky to be part of a choir recently performing Bach B Minor mass in Liverpool with Nathalie conducting. Also we had the privilege of a days workshop on the piece with her. She is inspirational, her voice is unbelievably awesome. Even just singing through a couple of bars to show what she wants it was just glorious. I have been blessed by the experience so had to listen to this again over Easter

Despite those she put herself out in the world and created great beauty. She must have had great strength of character.. Oh wow! She sings! I've only been to a couple of her concerts with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, and she was directing. I was struck by how emotive she was, and mouthing the words to the choruses of the St Matthew's Passion (most recent). I feel kind of silly for not guessing she is a singer.

I believe this one is much better, from the singer and violinist....Julia Hamari, the alto, is in a different universe as she sings....you are absolutely watching a religious experience here (ruclips.net/video/aPAiH9XhTHc/видео.html). There’s no way the singer in this performance can come close to Hamari, in my opinion....Stutzmann isn’t near to the same league, and neither is the violinist, to my taste.

Yesterday, April 2, 2023, it was my privilege to attend a performance of the entire St. Matthew Passion of Bach, of which this is a part.
The performance was by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, augmented by the Spivey Hall Children's Choir . . . all led by ASO's musical director/conductor Nathalie Stutzman.
It was an ethereal experience, and the audience was enthralled into profound and respectful silence, the like of which I have rarely experienced. Only when the last notes had faded in the hall did thunderous applause begin, lasting so long and with such vigor that some dropped their arms for a moment to regain their strength, only to again rejoin the rest of the audience in praise and appreciation of all performers . . . and Maestra Stutzmann.
I am positive that our dear Robert Shaw, late ASO Director and Conductor, would have joined the ovation were he still with us.
