My favorite part of watching Mario romhacks is that they tend to have some of the most creative and well made custom music of any hacks, with Mega Man hacks generally being the only ones that rival them. This one is no exception. 👍
It's the same secret as Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town; they froze everyone's ages. Ash would've been like 30 or 40, and he's been traveling with two kids under the age of 10, one boy, and one girl, and while the two under age 10 had their 10+ year old siblings with them, it's still creepy when you think about Ash's _actual age_ and the same goes with Brock, who was 15 at first appearance and 16 when he appeared next, which was when May and Max was traveling with Ash.
It's so cool and surreal seeing the levels updated like this. Most of the changes make sense and it feels like this is what Mario 64 could have looked like if it released later than it did.
what i like about mario 64 rom hacks is that levels actually look like a place, mario 64 levels are just blocks floating on the sky with no real sentiment of being a place

I have to wonder where people who make these ROMS are getting the background tracks from? Many songs sound original but maybe they were made by an AI? But then others are clearly adapted from other games and things. The first house at the start uses the house inside song from Ocarina of Time, the flying cap song seemed to be Cooking By The Book from Lazytown, then the inside of the pyramid is the Tower of Revival song from Warioland 3. Like did the creator use AI to make everything but it just sampled some stuff too heavily? Or did the creator use certain songs deliberately?
The game comes with a text file that lists the source of each song. There was no AI used anywhere in this hack because BroDute actually cares about making things
@@maxtes252 After doing some research I've discovered you can convert MIDI files to SM64 which is the filetype that Super Mario 64 uses for background tracks and they play out very much like a MIDI. You can also get MIDI files of a massive amount of video game tracks. That explains why so much of the background music in this game as well as tons of other Super Mario 64 ROMs seem to have background tracks from seemingly random games that have been altered to use the standard Super Mario 64 music "sounds." I'd be willing to be the people are just finding these MIDI's and using them and didn't realize what they were from. Some of them sound fantastic, others not so much.
What if you take away the N64 limitations and add some extra fanlove to Super Mario 64? You get an amazing game such as this. This just showed half the levels (assuming this is a full hack of all levels) and I'm already blown away.
Plz, make a hack (of the improved version) vid with/from the improved version Kaze made a vid about. I tried to DL that one, but couldn't find it. He aid the rendering was better. Something like, Hacker Super Maro 64. Some guys "fixed the entire source code," cos the way Nintendo went about it was less than perfect. I do music, not code. Love your work, either way. You're boss! Dude, seriously would appreciate that! Your great ideas, plus faster, better Mario 64!!! [*Head exploding]
This rom hack needs a redesign of the camera's movements, it takes too long to reposition itself to show the character on the screen in zones like the desert map, when mario is climbing the towers, for example.
@@SomeRobIoxDude Sorry to say this, but I'm not playing the game; I'm just watching the video, and it's uncomfortable to see which direction Mario is going. The camera is too slow and given the areas are too narrow and that there's a lot walls and big structures everywhere it's difficult to see Mario on screen.
Looks really nice, how much more game is there? Just a little annoying that it still kicks you out of the level although there are no level changes with each star. I'll look for the game
I love the new levels .but I wish they used the original Mario 64 soundtrack .for this whole game. Not just in side the castle. Castle music is so good. Then the levels all kinda bleh. Wish they would use the original music

It’s the fluidity, the camera movement isn’t stiff and old, the ankmations are way beyond its time, the game itself was far ahead of its time
