Andrew you may have to disconnect the negative battery cable and let the computer reset. Then allow the car to idle for 10-20 minutes to relearn the maf. I had the same problem when I changed out my throttle body and no one could tell me so I found a video on you tube that help me figure out this step and now it runs fine.
Man I think this is cooler than a coyote because this is much more practical and is more open to a broad audience. I would rather you build this motor down the road using MMR parts port those heads and increase compression and show you can make a lot of power out of a 4v mod motor maybe even do a bigger bore to a 3.7in making your power in the higher rpm
Hey Andrew. Drive the cobra around for a day or two with the new maf, the ecu in the sn95 mustangs don't like different maf sensors being plugged in. Did this a while back when changing from 19lb to 24lb and got a 97 cobra maf. It took a few days for the ecu to adjust to the new maf, after that it ran fantastic. Your cobra is acting the same way my gt did when i did the maf change. Hope it works out
Thats exactly what I was thinking. I had a similar issue after changing the maf in my 2v. But what I did instead was to unplug the battery for a couple of hours, to kind of reset the computer, then drove the car around for like an hour and it ran perfect.
It won't lean it out unless you are doing wot, typical afr when cruising or idling is in the 14/1 range while wot is in the 11/1 range. The ecu will re-learn by cursing around under light loads
unplug the battery for a couple hours, then start the car and drive it for like an hour. the computer needs to learn the new input from the maf, these sn95 are really in love with their stock mafs, thats why you need to give it sometime to adjust to the new one.
Weird question. But does your Coolant temp sensor work ok? Had an issue like this before that Your having on the cobra. I put a new one on and it fixed the issue. Basically it would throw the car into open loop and would let it go to closed loop. Might work for you. Good luck!
My brother did cams in a 1998 Cobra, had the same tick in the top end! Turned out to be pcv in the valve cover making contact with cam. Probably would self clearance but he took a hammer and improvised.😉
I think your suppose to unhook your battery for like ten minutes to let your computer to reset the hook the battery back up with the new MAF in and it should act different because of the computer reset to the new MAF
I have a mark motor in my 67 f100. At idle it seems to me ok. After a couple revs it'll tick on the passenger side for a couple seconds then go away. I wonder if the Lucas would help that. Any thoughts?
Im getting flashbacks from the 2nd day i had my 96 cobra,i was changing the oil sensor and the oil cooler housing cracked. Its a common issue on and old aluminum housing on 96-04 cobras. Gotta be very careful.
Andrew, you will need to have your car retuned to the new MAF to be safe. Also, whenever you remove a MAF, you always want to clock it at the same position it was in. The position of the MAF makes a difference on how the car will run as well. Since Kurgan tunes your car, you may be able to data log and send him your logs and he can make the necessary adjustments. He may also be able to tune it via data logging. I don’t remember if Bob does that or not thou. 04Sleeper over on SVT Performance could get you back on track.
sabrom the ticking noise on cold start up, it's a metal pin on the cam phasers that wears out on higher mileage cars but goes away after it warms up..alot of people try to rev the motor to get it to go away but that usually leads to broke chain adjusters and much bigger problems.its sounds bad but just let it tick til it warms up...
Glad to see it running again. The turd sounds great going down the road. I guessed i missed it but you sold the brown turd too? Im excited to see turdzilla back up and going. Should move pretty damn good with the 4v...especially with those gears
MustangLifestyle I legit love this car!!! After watching a few video's, I'm considering doing that Mark VIII swap in my 96 mustang gt. I was going to do the pi swap since I have the entire top end from a 99 mustang but am now having second thoughts. Any suggestions?
How did you get the fuel rail to work for the returnless style setup? I'm in the middle of the same swap with this setup except I'm using my mach 1 shell.
Have to hand it to Andrew and his loyalty to the cobra. I would have sold it and got a gt500 or a new S550 cuz there such a good platform with alot of accessible parts. It baffles me that the Terminators are so popular yet the parts are so hard to find at least in my experience parts hunting for a frends cobra.
Hey Andrew I have a question... I did an auto to manual swap on my 97 gt. It’s a t45 from a 2001 gt. My speedometer is way off. I’m going like around 30mph and my speedometer shows like around 120ish. Do I have to re program my ecu??
If you’ve got a 2 valve motor and it’s making a noise like this, it’s probably a bad timing chain guide. They go bad on the 4.6L 2 V motors. The guides are made of plastic, and the start to wear out and snap after around 70,000 miles. I wouldn’t guarantee that adding oil in your situation will fix anything. The dual over head cam motors tend not to have this problem, because the guides have metal backings. If I were you, I would take off the valve covers and look down the channels for the timing chain. Most likely they’ll be snapped. The likelihood that your car has a bad lifter is pretty slim, especially if it’s not a 4V motor.
that dude at the shop had NO idea how many views the video was gonna be lol, also I was like "oh fuck, the oil is milky" till he said it was the assembly lube.
Edwin Ayala I love my 40th anniversary gt it only has 58k but is still great, my f150 has 242k runs and sounds like new. My dads work van has 570k runs good never opened
Lol slight oil leak he says as it leaves a trail of oil
Lol
I've been waiting to see turdzilla run, all the hard work you guys have done has paid off, awesome
Rotella T by shell is great oil to get metal to sink low and drain it after a engine build or rebuild
2:50 yup I know that sigh. I feel your pain
Grizzly Garage fucking same 😂

I heard that vacuum leak and was getting irritated no one was saying anything about it. Thank god he found it, that was killing my ears.
That whole time I was thinking there was no way all that noise was coming from the intake alone. I'm surprised how long it took em to notice it.
for the terminator, id suggest the idle air control valve my gt was doing the same thing.

Tim Clark Jr but that would cause a lean condition?? And that’s not good on a boosted mod motor !
Thats exactly what I was thinking.
I had a similar issue after changing the maf in my 2v.

Enjoying all the great content, keep up all the hard work.
Thanks!
Car reminds me of my ex, pretty on the outside, ugly on the inside.
YzfR6 damn now that's funny cause I'm in the same boat with a recent ex🙁👎
Andrew.. the car sounds great! Nice job you and NIck
Great to have it back on the road!
unplug the battery for a couple hours, then start the car and drive it for like an hour.
the computer needs to learn the new input from the maf, these sn95 are really in love with their stock mafs, thats why you need to give it sometime to adjust to the new one.
The car is not running a stock maf. It is tuned for a specific one. I tried flashing a tune and it still didn’t work. The maf is not eight
Holy crap Turbozilla is gonna be awesome!
Where is the brown car?
Travis Fennell he sold it
Good to see it back on the road man
lifter follower wheel probably I had a few lock up on mine.Think rocker arm with a wheel and the wheel gets frozen
Mustang Lifestyle congratulations on getting the turd running

Wouldn’t let it go into closed loop**
My brother did cams in a 1998 Cobra, had the same tick in the top end! Turned out to be pcv in the valve cover making contact with cam. Probably would self clearance but he took a hammer and improvised.😉
Dude check the continuity on the mass airflow sensor pigtail. It’s a chance that might be the issue.
hell yeah brother!
THE CAR SOUNDS VERY GOOD AND I LOVE THE ENGINE SWAP AND SETUP. KEEP WORKING WITH IT! GREAT VIDEO.
I have the parts for a PI swap. Second guessing if I should do the Mark VIII swap. My dad has a mark viii setting at his house. Hmmmm.
I think your suppose to unhook your battery for like ten minutes to let your computer to reset the hook the battery back up with the new MAF in and it should act different because of the computer reset to the new MAF
Looking good. I'm glad to see it's almost on the road again. I think Willie Nelson would be happy.
So close, seems like there's always that one problem. One step closer though. Good to see Turdzilla rolling.
It is good to see the car driving on its own power. Just gotta fix that oil cooler line and Turdzilla will be back at home safe and sound.
I have a mark motor in my 67 f100. At idle it seems to me ok. After a couple revs it'll tick on the passenger side for a couple seconds then go away. I wonder if the Lucas would help that. Any thoughts?
Car sounds awesome! Minor issues to fix, no big deal.
So happy to see the car running
How much are u selling the brown car for
I got a 99 GT want to put 4.6 4valve in what harness and intake will I need
Im getting flashbacks from the 2nd day i had my 96 cobra,i was changing the oil sensor and the oil cooler housing cracked. Its a common issue on and old aluminum housing on 96-04 cobras. Gotta be very careful.
Nice job! I am in the middle of the same swap on my 2000.
Nothing sounds better than a 4v Ford modular v8 !!! Nothing
So close you can feel it. Hope you get it, and the Cobra going soon.
Love turdzilla, part of the reason I am looking into getting a Mach 1. And Lucas is the Jam bro.
What type of oil did you put in it?
Yes I will thanks

I know when Kurgan tunes my car, he recommended a SCT BA2600 maf meter. Most tuners prefer them.
Turdzilla is back!❤
So, what was the knocking noise..????
I’m having that same noise on my f150.. it’s killing me... 😡🤬
What did the swap cost you$?
a little sea foam in the oil will usually clear up a lifter tick.
So how did u get rid of the engine tick
Congratulations on the tick going away, I’m sure that’s a break you could use.👍
How much would he charge for this kind of job
Sounds like a tps or iac issue. But loved my 02 svt focus
1:13 a sexy 4.6 L 281 cubic inches of supercharged Fury
Wristpin on one of the rods is a lil worn out , can really hear it on morning start ups, but does go away after car warms up.
sabrom the ticking noise on cold start up, it's a metal pin on the cam phasers that wears out on higher mileage cars but goes away after it warms up..alot of people try to rev the motor to get it to go away but that usually leads to broke chain adjusters and much bigger problems.its sounds bad but just let it tick til it warms up...
mine makes the exact same noise on my 04 cobra
What ecm did you have to run with the swap kinda wanna do this to my 99
love watching your video's. and hope u figure out waits wrong with the cobra
“Slight oil leak” .. trail of oil following car lmao
Glad to see it running again. The turd sounds great going down the road. I guessed i missed it but you sold the brown turd too? Im excited to see turdzilla back up and going. Should move pretty damn good with the 4v...especially with those gears
Sounds good bro hope ya get cobra straight soon
Turdzilla is a great project car.#blessed
did you add the whole quart or lucas? mines got a lifter tick too and i used 1/4 the bottle, slightly still ticking.
Whole bottle
I absolutely love the color of that car
MustangLifestyle I legit love this car!!! After watching a few video's, I'm considering doing that Mark VIII swap in my 96 mustang gt. I was going to do the pi swap since I have the entire top end from a 99 mustang but am now having second thoughts. Any suggestions?
Pi heads is a fun an easy swap for a npi 2v!
What exhaust is on it
Almost there can’t wait I’m it will be right
How did you get the fuel rail to work for the returnless style setup? I'm in the middle of the same swap with this setup except I'm using my mach 1 shell.
96-98 cobra fuel rail, two self tapper screws, fuel rail pressure sensor, and send ittttt! The fuel rail pressure sensor blocks the return
What injectors did you use for it?
She does sound good... gonna shop for 1 right now... 1am hello Craigslist
What a the po box to send things too?
I can just hear Andrew doing his best Han Solo impersonation, "It's not my fault!" :-P
Team Blue Smoke
That's a sweet sounding piece of machinery 😁
15 min of awesomeness
It’s alive!
Have to hand it to Andrew and his loyalty to the cobra. I would have sold it and got a gt500 or a new S550 cuz there such a good platform with alot of accessible parts. What’s the song at the end of the video?

Yes
Sucks about the oil cooler. Those can be expensive. My car is leaking from that area and I’m hoping it’s not a cracked oil cooler.

I wish that worked for mine. :(

Nobody listens when they watch. you clearly said it's Johns focus. enjoy answering that question for the next week or so
Lol
I love it very good keep up and video good
Nice job man. What’s the next thing for the turd?
Getting it home!
Oh yea
Yall do know Ashely broke her driveshaft at the track it was on her snapchat
I figured either the driveshaft or an axle would go. Too much power for the stock stuff with the shock loads you get with a manual
Lorne Mann ya bro I should have not posted that comment BC I spoiled the surprise for some people
2008 ford mustang sherrod bad ass I was wondering why he couldn't use it
Funny how I had a lifter tick & oil leaking from the oil cooler housing on my 4v swap lmao
lol both are pretty common
Aye we have the same glasses
I know I know lots of content but we need to see the whippple and the Cobra dyno 😎😎 that must’ve been badass
Got that coming and some track time! Stay tuned
Mustang Lifestyle damn that was quick 😂 and thanks
Turdzilla is nasty sounding
susie> moze
Gordons Garage nooooo
Put some trans fluid in there. That will pump that lifter up

Anthony Guadarrama no they burn oil and no one builds 2vs
Karl Hopkins thank you for the help, it’s because I’m close on buying my first mustang and I was wondering which one I should get
Edwin Ayala I love my 40th anniversary gt it only has 58k but is still great, my f150 has 242k runs and sounds like new. My dads work van has 570k runs good never opened
