i met Morris Day and Jellybean in an airport in 2009. i was right behind them while checking luggage thru security. crazy, i was listening to my iPod. i was listening to the song 'Tricky". i had brief conversation with Jellybean. very cool talkative approachable guy.
Morris Day is still a fly Brother! And they still dress sharp. Not all sloppy like these new artists and groups do. They are baad! I hope that they get some good material together and get back out there like they use to. It's about that "Time".
I absolutely love The Time and ALL of the members. Jesse Johnson is one of my favorite guitarist. And the fact that he is fine as hell definitely helps. #Realmenwearpink!
(THE TIME ) THEY STILL GOT IT GOING ON AND they ALL LOOK GOOD STILL THAT'S A BLESSING. I LOVE💜 THEIR MUSIC THE FUNK AND SOUL STILL SOUNDS GOOD UP TO THIS DAY CONTINUE ON DOING WHAT YOU DO BEST 💜💜😘😁🎶 GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
i' lived in springfield Illinois for 2 years.... didn't know morris was from there until I met 2 of his couisin.... they could pass for brothers they look like morris so much ... I was like HELL NAWLL
NEVER EVER TALK BAD ABOUT THE TIME...ESPECIALLY NOT JEROME. HE IS THE BANDS LEAD, THEY GET MOST OF THERE CUES FROM HIM AND HE ALSO BRINGS OUT THE GOD DAMN MIRROR...NEVER SAY ANYTHING BAD ABOUT THE MKFING TIME.
Jimmy Jam was there, and played the set. Knowing Jam, he probably had to step out and handle some music business. He is the head of the National Academy of the Recording Arts and Sciences.
Morris Day is so cool when you meet him down to earth I met him Jan. 1 2007 in Biloxi Miss They did a show at the Casino he was walking thru the Casino by himself a lot of people didnt know who he was but me being a fan for years I did told him thank you for the good times he looks really good to be his age amazing
Oh i loved JEROME! he was hilarious in the movie, .."purple rain",..that and Morris,.."i have a brass waterbed!",... will never forget seein this movie when i was 13 and had to sneak into the theater to even watch it,..bk in 1983-84!
The electrifying Mojo gets much of the credit for putting Prince and the Time on the map. For those who do not know who Mojo is he was a Detroit disc jockey.
the radio station that played Get It Up when they first heard it was either 1580 KDAY or 1230 KGFJ. AM radio. blacks still tuned in to AM radio all the way up until 89-90 when it was sadly taken away.
aw yeah, KDAY. I remember those days...I used to listen to the Quiet Storm, that was taken from us. KJLH and they unfortunately dont play the full spectrum of old school funk, rnb, neo soul, jazz, and just all around soul music.
Where do you find these things?!!!!!!! Thank You soooooooo much! Damn near everyone from Minneapolis I loved in the 70's and the 80's!!!!!!!! The Time ............... what do I say? I love them all!!!!!
I grew up around all these guys. Sue Ann, Prince Andre, Morris, Alex. We are from a small city and believe it or not we arrelated. It seems that a small wold makes a large family. There are so many experiences that I have had with around or because of yaw'll that it feels funny. Remember Gretchen, Jerome? The Trek and all the house parties at the Demmings house, Jimmy? I taught Jesse's daughter in school and my brother played drums and sang lead in Kool Skool for Jesse. Jellybean, always chill?
@MooseShady Some people just don't understand. Any old schooler knows who Jerome knows what he can do and knows his part in the band. And that person who said Jerome Benton is the damn fool with no talent doesn't really know The Time in the first place. It's a damn shame Prince wouldn't let them use The Time name anymore they are now going by The Original 7ven check out there new video #Trendin. Just bought the new CD and it's tight. I love the song call "Sick" on there. Jesse is wicked on lead.
That's right Detroit was showing mad love to the Time and Prince! I remember them being in Detroit and doing a show for a WK! The local dj at the time was the eletricfying MOJO was his name and he use to bang Prince the Time and Parliament Funkadelic all night long! Hell I thought Prince and the Time lived in Detroit as much as they were here in concert.❣️
I agree - except CHerry Moon being better than Purple Rain. I do think Cherry Moon is a good movie though it is always panned but Purple Rain is the greatest rock movie in history.
@SongsMikelikes All of the members of The Time are talented and have more talent than what you see in the group. Jerome is more than just a hype man; he is also a talented musician in his own right.
Remeber your real first gig? You played my club, The YAASM. South Mpls on Lake Street? Prince paid for everything and you guys were comin' in everyday to practice? I asked Jimmy to lend me a copy of a Redding hit and he said, "I don't lend my music out". We watched you as you were annoyed and taxed by his presence. You played on his gear and played his songs. Remember the song, "If You Wanna Be My Girl?" Morris you are my cousin and so are you Prince. I say these names and you, Leland and Levonn

"1, 2, 3, 4. Why you big..." They don't know nothing about that?
These were and still are the coolest brothaz who ever did it on stage... Kick Ass!!!

Amazing!!!!! Love this Band!
No one in this group is useless. They all still together after so many years.
This is all I heard growing up. My mom adored Morris Day, the Time and Prince!
The legendary originals! The Time! Yes love them and that music!

Jerome remind me of Flavor Flav ! Jerome is one of the best hype men of all time !
morris day still one of the flyest brothers around.
Jimmy Jam was there, and played the set. Knowing Jam, he probably had to step out and handle some music business. He is the head of the National Academy of the Recording Arts and Sciences.

I was at that Detroit concert and they were impressed that we knew their songs.

the slammest band of all time...between Prince and the Time..they could rip any band out there
I know him and I see him. I love that man, Cool, Calm and Collective, you got this.
the radio station that played Get It Up when they first heard it was either 1580 KDAY or 1230 KGFJ. AM radio. blacks still tuned in to AM radio all the way up until 89-90 when it was sadly taken away.
Right, then we got stuck with 92.3 in 89 and now its gone

Great conversational interview, a real group effort - no one dominated. You don't see a lot of this anymore.
I was an Army recruiter in Springfield IL back in the day and was told Morris Day was from there.
@MooseShady Some people just don't understand. Any old schooler knows who Jerome knows what he can do and knows his part in the band. I wonder why Prince would not let them use the name????

Awesome band!!

The white chocolate, haha, that’s great, humble guy and fitting in so flawlessly
@joedrake20 Jimmy was there for the performance, but he had stepped out during the interview.
Wow!
@SongsMikelikes All of the members of The Time are talented and have more talent than what you see in the group. Jerome is more than just a hype man; he is also a talented musician in his own right.
Jerome was just a percussion player in the group he never professed on being a true musician he gives the credit to his brother Terry Lewis.
what time it is?
Where's the performance?
Legendary The time What time is it
Check out the purple reign review in Vegas. The guys that play Morris and Jerome are on point. The whole show was great.
How come they didn’t mention Alexander? He was also part of FT.

I watched the interview last year. Jimmy Jam didn't appear with the group during an interview until they went onstage to perform. Don't ask me why
