  • Gerry Hayden and his wife left successful careers in the New York City dining scene to open a high-end farm-to-table restaurant in Southold a decade ago. Since that time he has been nominated for the prestigious James Beard Award three times and the restaurant is perennially ranked No. 1 on Long Island by Zagat.
    Though Mr. Hayden died last August of complications from ALS, his legacy lives on through the chefs who have benefited from his tutelage and the expansion of the farm-to-table movement he helped create.
