I love Erin's music. She is one musician who stays true to herself. Smart and original. It is a joy introducing Erin's music to my friends. Thank you Erin for making me smile through your music
I love your style & sound - fabulous. I couldn't help but notice the Leader of the Pack reference - "Look out, look out, look out, look out." You're so creative in blending the old with the new. Keep it up!
Thank you, Tara! And it especially means a lot to me that you appreciated the video even though you have those strong feelings about science and religion being separate. My idea was that it's possible to believe in God but at the same time still appreciate science (and carbon dating and evolution, etc.). And also, I wanted to make a fun video and a fun song. Thank you so much for watching and commenting! :-)
A wonderful, catchy tune about a subject that does not get enough attention in wonderful catchy tunes. One day soon, I hope to catch you in another show - hopefully that one will not be overrun by a freak storm. Meteorology was not on our side in Herndon. :-)
I just found out about Erin Hill only two weeks ago when searching for a good arrangement of "Molly Malone" I am thrilled about that arrangement, and now I'm listening to other Erin Hill song and I am super impressed by her. I have not been so excited about an artist in a long time. Because I'm a professional singer, guitarist and a classical flutist, I'm very picky about the music I choose to listen to. I'm now a fan and will buy all her recordings! I'll make it a point to see you the next time I'm in NYC!! oxox
Excellently done! Love the melodies and rhythm. Not only I get a B-52's feel from it but (and this may be just the 80's kid in me) some Tears for Fears as well. Pluck away Trekking Harptress!
GREAT! Elegant, intelligent musical talent transmitted in a lovely, very fun, accessible, and original style. Thank you Erin Hill for all, including your poetic imagination. The theme, to me, is really about two traditional systems that can be non-dualistically synthesized eventually. "Look out science!" Our epoch shifts in consciousness make it possible to experience the mystical dimension of reality and making the distinction without indulging in separation. Any form of rational reductionism limits our comprehension of reality especially if we make the human the "great absentee." Meanwhile, the birds fly over head and we enjoy a wonderful talent-Erin!
I always play Erin Hill's songs twice (at least); the second time with my eyes closed. The video is cool, but the song stands on its own. This is the kind of song They Might Be Giants write, only more mainstream accessible. And Erin's prettier!
Love listening, Erin. As an opera fan I particularly like your "O Mio Babbino Caro." Sadly, I think some folks don't get what you've done here. Love your interactions with commenters. Nice touch.
wow, that was so well done, very elaborate production and story. it warms my heart to see a harp featured in a video. You look as beautiful as ever, your voice is clear and you sound great. I feel strongly about science and religion being seperate so that was bit uncomfortable for me. Keep up your creative endevors. tara
Wow, what a great video! It has a sort of "B-52's" feeling to it. I love the music. Good to see Forest Hills representing too. Eddie's Sweet Shop - a classic ice cream parlor, St Luke's and Grace Lutheran Church. I am faithfully religious but also believe in evolution, the Big Bang, etc., and this is a fun song to homogenize both.
Thank you! and I love the B-52's, so I'll gladly take that comparison :-) And yeah, just today in fact, I played the organ at Grace Lutheran and also had ice cream at Eddie's Sweet Shop!!
As a scifi geek you must know that you're a spot on Jodie Foster in Contact - which also deals w science v. faith. Great song! media.giphy.com/media/ptNl9PuohFqQU/giphy.gif
Just learned about you a few minutes ago on Coast To Coast Am. They NEED to use your cover of "Across The Universe" as a bumper. Few songs are as deeply strikingly beautiful and serene as Kamakawiwo'ole's Rainbow/World medley. Oh and subscribed. i'm pretty sure i'm in love with you now.
Ref: Dog/goD..................................................MacLeod Did you ever hear the one about the agnostic dyslexic? He didn't believe in Dog. Your work is wonderful as ever. I'm always greatful when you share it with us. Peace Gill
After seeing the third-arm dude, the moment you reached for your paper hat I knew there'd be a third eye underneath. Which also works extra for this song because of the whole "spirituality/third-eye" concept.
Excellent production values. However the message is muddled. She appears to be saying that science can't answer all questions. True enough. But religion can answer... what exactly? As far as I can tell religion can't answer any questions and this video doesn't show otherwise.
The video is supposed to be first of all: fun, with Twilight Zone references, etc. And second, I hope it shows the idea that Science and Religion don't have to be mutually exclusive -- for example, a pastor can still be intelligent enough to know that evolution happened, and dinosaurs lived 65 million years ago, and that the bible should not be taken literally. I just want Science and Religion to not be mortal enemies, and for a scientist to be able to respect the beliefs of someone who believes in God (and unexplainable things), and that a religious person can respect Science and facts as well.
+Erin Hill Science and religion may not be mortal enemies but they are not compatible. Why should a scientist respect any belief that is not based on evidence available to everyone? Personal revelation (the basis for most religious beliefs) is not a sound foundation for gaining knowledge about our world. If a religious person doesn't respect objective facts I can't help but think they need education or psychiatric help. Please provide a single example of an answer that religion provides us which is not otherwise available to science or philosophy (not theology)? Please note that your example must be something that people who do not hold your particular religious views can agree is the "correct" answer. Is eating pork okay? Is working on a particular day of the week okay? Those are religious beliefs that I do not believe deserve any respect.
+Kurtis Rader Exactly what I think, too -- the religious person in my video respects facts -- he helps the girl answer her homework by giving the correct answer for when dinosaurs lived - he believes in evolution. But basically, this is just a fun video with some Twilight Zone references for sci-fi geeks like me! And it's also saying that hopefully some people can choose to believe in a god, but can also respect scientific facts. As the lyrics to my song say, Religion is looking in (within oneself), and science looks out, for facts. I'd just like the two sides to stop hating each other. I'd like the science-based people to not hate people who believe in god, and I'd like people who believe in god to all accept the scientific facts of evolution, climate change, etc. But above all, it's just a fun song. I completely agree that religious people should respect objective facts - of course, duh! And thank you Jituska for your comment -- I wanted to make a fun, magical, pretty, sci-fi video :-)
I love Erin's music. She is one musician who stays true to herself. Smart and original. It is a joy introducing Erin's music to my friends. Thank you Erin for making me smile through your music
Science and faith can be compatible, and you showed that beautifully. Not to mention, it's a lovely song!
This somehow captures the 90s way of music videos in the best of ways. And I mean that in the best of ways!
I love your style & sound - fabulous. I couldn't help but notice the Leader of the Pack reference - "Look out, look out, look out, look out." You're so creative in blending the old with the new. Keep it up!
Terrific video! Love the song and Erin's voice and harp. Heavenly!!
Fantastic!! Can't wait for the rest of the album.

I love this song, Erin! I just listened to it three times in a row and can't get enough of it. Profound, beautiful - and fun : )

This song is so beautiful! I love the harp and your singing! Also the message how science and religion are connected. Love this!
Erin, you're an inspiration!
Erin that's quite a production and 'story'. Really well done, creative and playfully fun.
I approve of the science in this video- and I have a master's degree in.... SCIENCE!
Excellently done! Love the melodies and rhythm. Not only I get a B-52's feel from it but (and this may be just the 80's kid in me) some Tears for Fears as well. Pluck away Trekking Harptress!

Awesome! Love the little tribute to "The Twilight Zone" episode: Will the Real Martian Please Stand Up!
Thank you! and I love the B-52's, so I'll gladly take that comparison :-)
And yeah, just today in fact, I played the organ at Grace Lutheran and also had ice cream at Eddie's Sweet Shop!!
This is a fun song and video. You don't need more comments, you need more content! More videos, please.
BEAUTIFULLY SCIENTIFIC - my regards ;-]
Yay! Thank you for being the first to notice the particular Twilight Zone reference!! :-)

Science is looking with eyes open. Religion is looking with eyes closed.
Ha ha ha, fun & loopy.
Thank you, Achilles! That is just what I was going for! :-)
Charming one of yours, poignant
thank you! ✨
