  • I unexpectedly caught the biggest trout of my life! (and got a little too excited) Also caught a nice rainbow trout (or is it a steelhead???) and cooked it up over a fire! I had so much fun exploring this new lake and am definitely going back. If you guys like this video, let me know what you think in the comment section or hit the "like" button so I know.

    Hey guys! Thanks for watching! I noticed a lot of people saying that trout don't have scales. They actually do. They are smaller than say carp's scales, but they are on there. Perhaps certain types of trout don't have scales, but the ones around here do.
    Also, thanks for letting me know the difference between a steelhead and rainbow! I looked it up once and every website said something different. Even the fish and game website had steelhead as simply any trout over 20 inches. Thanks for all the comments!

    One time I was pulling myself a bottom bouncer, trying to catch some nice walleye and I snagged an old pole, was still nice reel worked and everything, I still i use it to this day, anyway I snagged that pole and thought I had a fish because it was fighting so here I am reeling this pole up thinking its a massive fish because its so heavy, and this pole comes out of the water, I'm going well...no fish but at least I got a new rod n real, but the pole still had some line-out so I figured I'd have to reel that in, so after I started reeling it in something started fighting on the end I fought for probably 5 minutes and bring up a massive carp, biggest ive ever seen. It was a crazy day for me, I'll never forget.

      When I was a younger I was camping and fishing while reeling in a fish I messed up pretty bad and got my line all tangled on the reel pretty bad so I had to let out the line then slowly hand pull it in as I fixed the line and as I did I had a blue gill on the line that I could see since the water was crystal clear then out of nowhere as I’m pulling it in with my hands a massive frog jumps and eat the fish hooking itself

    12:37 Growing up in Wisconsin, I can tell you right now there is a big difference between steelhead and inland rainbow trout. Although they are the same fish (rainbow trout), they live in different habitats and look very different. This is because steelhead are rainbows that go out to sea (or to one of the great lakes, in the case of Wisconsin steelhead), and come into inland rivers to spawn. Steelhead usually have a greyish-blue head and spine region with a very silvery belly. As a result of their different diet, in most cases, mature steelhead are also MUCH larger than mature inland rainbow trout, and look more like a chinook salmon than a rainbow. Other than that, great video! Wish I could fish at such pristine locations!!

    When I was younger I never liked to eat fish... it just didn't agree with me. That is until I went camping and caught a few rainbow trout. My uncle prepped the fish tossed it in some foil with butter, salt and lemon closed up the foil around the fish and threw it straight on the fire.... a few minutes later I had the most delicious fish I could have ever imagined... so delicious in fact I actually began eating fish. You should try cooking it this way.. the meat gets so tender almost like it was stewed for hours and hours.

    Great videos Ace. Some of the places you fish are stunning.
    I know you like cooking wild, but if you ever take one home you must try paper-baked trout. Wrap a 1.5lb trout in 2 layers of newspaper and soak it wet through. Bake it on a tray until the paper is dry all round. When you remove the paper it pulls off all the fins and scales with it.....leaving beautiful perfect flesh that pulls off the bones easily.
    Try it....it's amazingly simple and you get the natural taste of trout as it should be.

    • @Heston83
      @Heston83 5 лет назад +1

      Mark Job they both start off in fresh water but then some go out to the ocean (Steelhead). You're catching them in freshwater because they are there to spawn.

      Steelhead can also appear from rivers off the Great Lakes. Doesn’t necessarily have to be the ocean
