I think this is the most authentic ANH R2-D2 that I've seen so far. For some reason, the prop in A New Hope is really difficult to nail the likeness, and I'm not quite sure what it is. For one the dyes that they used of course create some interesting effects in certain lighting. I think part of it is the panel alignment. In A New Hope, the radar eye is lower than it is in the other movies, although it can vary scene to scene. I also really like the finish that the white color on your unit has, it gives that painted metal/porcelain look that not many units seem to have. Did you post about it in the R2 Builders club? I think I saw your post on there about the little wave he does, haha! Awesome stuff!
What silver paint did you used on the dome? I like that is not too shiny and not too matte.. just right! Just started with mine, printing the dome at the moment

Used rustoleum metallic..with no clear. A year in and it has a realistic looking wear to it
