i feel like i'm at the bar back in my single days just sitting at the bar drinking listening to music, people watching, and maybe I'm wondering if there's a girl out there diggin' the moment too, at the bar somewhere, just listening to the music I picked out, which happens to be an Old '97's album...
Only 2 artists/groups that I've been able to listen to from their beginnings to the present. And I've listened to a massive amount of 🎶. Dylan, of course, and Rhett Miller/Old 97's. There's not a Miller written song I can't listen to. In order of preference: Designs on You ("And you can go on and get married/And it'll probably never happen again"), Murder (Or a Heart Attack) ("And the whole damn complicated situation could have been avoided/If I'd only shut the window"), Indefinitely ("Well the room was Mediterranean and the meaning was two-fold/We got busted by your mother even though you're 29 years old"), Four-Eyed Girl ("My eyes are open nobody's napping/She said you don't want to miss a minute of me"), Victoria ("She lost her lover to an accident at sea/She pushed him overboard and ended up with me"), Our Love ("She's a living fire she's a reason to live/She is killing me only burning for him"), Won't Be Home (You're a bottle cap away from pushing me too far/Well the problem's getting bigger and it's a compact car"), Doreen (Well, you can roll your eyes and nod/But I Swear I saw God in the moonlight/On a side street in the wreckage we call Queens"), Come Around ("I'm dressed all in blue and I'm rememberin' you/and the dress you wore/when you broke my heart") Barrier Reef ("Oh, then I went through the motions/With her on top and me on liquor/It didn't do no good/Well, I didn't think it would"), Timebomb ("She's like a claymore/that's what she's there for/She's waiting 'round here to get blown apart") Never once thought of them as an alt-country band, a genre I've never truly explored or appreciated with the exception of Jason Isbell (And only, then, the first albums with Outfit being my most favored song within the last 20 years). As to mainstream country, I can't really, with a few exceptions, listen to a whole track. I guess you could consider Nashville Skyline and songs like Mississippi Country but Dylan reframes every template he touches into a style unique. Contemporary pop is in the midst of a revolution. If I could posit one artist showing signs of seminal greatness it would be Conan Gray. Maniac with the image of a girl at the front door with a shovel and a rose evokes the French New Wave-except better.
Listening to "Our Year".....such a beautiful song. Actually a little in tears listening.... After 2020 being what it was, I can't wait until 2021 when I'm riding with my gal listening to this song and tell her "this will be our year". ps - don't actually 'have a gal', but that's part of 2021's plan. ;-) thanks for the tunes, boys! Old97s > Most other bands!
This House GotGhost..... in my wild and crazy days the old 97‘s were theme songs of my life and I had lots of fun. I had too much fun. Here I am, again.
On their website (www.old97s.com) which kicks you over to ATO's (their label) online store or if you live in Texas, there's a special edition (all nice and metallic-y).
Pickin' along to it, seems like the leads are all A minor (concert pitch) which would look like B minor when tuned down a full step like they often are. He hits the minor 6th (outside the pentatonic) a lot, which is a good tension note to go into the 5 chord, which they play as a major chord implying the (concert pitch) A harmonic minor scale.
B-minus. I think the album has production issues: ??overriding drums; maybe Bethea under-emphasized at times. Now I'm going to go listen to 'Too Far to Care' for the ten-millionth time.
Hello everybody! Murry here....
Hey Murry!!
I love you, Murry !!!
Hi, Murry!
Any of your songs coming up?
There we go...
I thought I was in love when I was 21.....22 years later and the only thing left from that relationship is a love for the Old 97s.
Old 97's haven't skipped a beat in over twenty years.
Just how? Amazing:...
I can't wait to hear the whole band together again! It feels like it's longer than usual between albums.
i feel like i'm at the bar back in my single days just sitting at the bar drinking listening to music, people watching, and maybe I'm wondering if there's a girl out there diggin' the moment too, at the bar somewhere, just listening to the music I picked out, which happens to be an Old '97's album...
I bought their “too far to care “ album (CD) directly from them at VZD’s in OKC, OK in 1994. Excellent.
Totally stoked! Hi Treehouse Friends!
My 20 month old daughter is going to love dancing to this! Can't wait haha...

This is gonna be your year!
Greetings from fire-struck Northern California. You will bring some light into this dark time.
You and I both partner hope you and yours are staying safe. It’s been a brutal 2 days
Stay strong and safe. I was out there in 2017-18 helping as much as I could around Ventura. Would be again if not for pandemic. All our love...
this album is insane!
This House GotGhost..... in my wild and crazy days the old 97‘s were theme songs of my life and I had lots of fun. I had too much fun. Here I am, again.
This sounds like another classic! Hope to see you all again at The Fillmore in S. F. someday soon. ❤️

Yeah!
Cool to hear a Kids In The Hall reference on Turn Off The TV!!!
Not really a reference…He literally sings their name. I get what ya saying tho ;)
Dig that solo in Our Year😎
How cool would it be if they used “this house got ghosts” on the tv show “ghosts”?
Drums on Diamonds on Neptune are 🙌
This is exciting! :)
Hi Beth!!!!
Grabbin' another beer...
I misread it yesterday, I thought it started at 9pm. Imissed about the last 1 1/2 songs. Can anyone tell me how to purchase the album?
I missed all but the last 1 1/2 songs.

Do I hear a dog between tracks? I have earbuds in and keep thinking my dog is making noises somewhere. Like a whine under the vinyl crackling.
Same!
Is that Murry on Happy Hour? :O
Was that last Murry track on phonograph?😎I liked the effect!
He recorded it on his iPhone! (I think in his kitchen?)
@@macswitchergia That's awesome!
What scale are you in there Ken? On Happy Hour. It's not pentatonic at all is it...do you do much pentatonic?
Pickin' along to it, seems like the leads are all A minor (concert pitch) which would look like B minor when tuned down a full step like they often are. He hits the minor 6th (outside the pentatonic) a lot, which is a good tension note to go into the 5 chord, which they play as a major chord implying the (concert pitch) A harmonic minor scale.
Omg
This House Got Ghosts...ghosts of The Monkees and Laurel Canyon
That record is warped
