Who are these guys? Were they in a Bradley Cooper movie? A friend claims to have seen them in Corrado once, at some niteclub, the show when the roof nearly came off. Holy smokes. Barely made it out with a pretty lady. So he tells it. Warned me these guys are dangerous. Though it sounded like rumor or myth so I dismissed it at the time
WOW!!!! I was not expecting to see the 9-year-old me in this music video (I'm the kid shown from 1:21-1:23). I met you all at your sound check at the Bluebird Theater in Denver, back in '98 or '99, thanks to my mom (Kristin) who was a big fan of yours starting back in Dallas. I still remember playing Ken's guitar and thought you all were the coolest people in the world. Your music has been a crucial part of my life. Here I am 25 years later, and I am singer-songwriter and actor myself and have my own wife and 10-month-old daughter now. Life is so profound, and I am so grateful to have had your music in my life all of these years. I so hope to meet you again! Can't wait to see you in Denver this April 20th!!! Thank you all so much!!! Love, Christopher Robin
The old 97s are my all time favorite band my wife says I’m obsessed with them and I agree best band ever 🤘great song this was a nice surprise for the end of a hectic day
Damn…. Hitchhike To Rhome, Too Far Too Care and Wreck Your Life were absolutely the anthems of all of my teens and 20’s. Seriously. I can definitely feel this song! Plus, I think I saw pretty much every single one of those shirts that they are wearing at one show or another.
Just discovered this band / song. New favorite song. Tried playing/singing it myself, but always get choked up at some point... this one hits home. Thank you for this song.
Right outta high school, Me and my best friend were out on some backroads in my 95 bronco just taking a cruise, back in like 2013, when “big brown eyes” came on Sirius radios outlaw country, and right then hearing them first time i knew it was something special. The next day i was off, and i drove straight into town to F.y.e. And found the album “too far to care” and i don’t think it ever came back out of my cd player lol. Over the years i would see them all over ohio from Cincinnati to Cleveland and learned to play a few of their songs. This music got me through my darkest moments and helped me find a better path. A couple of years ago I proposed at a show with help from the band and i even have an autographed copy of rhetts first childrens book for my daughter. And of course the whole amazing world of alternative country the old 97s opened up for me from drive by truckers to turnpike troubadours. Im so thankful for that one night that they caught my ear
These guys can't stop making great music. The bells in the background. Tremendous. Also, can you imagine a cross country drive in the back of the truck with Rhett on guitar? wow wow wow
Oh man- this takes me back. Been a fan since my first show way back in 1997 in Austin, Texas!❤ The show in Atlanta was amazing and better than ever. Lifer fan until I leave this Earth! ❤
Im glad your road as a an awesome group has gone on for decades ,,,, they havent been easy ones for most. Your guys still sound spectacular!!!! Thanks for cherring up my life!

I'll be catching ya'll in San Antone next month. I can't wait!!! The Crowes on Friday night and The 97's on Saturday night. It's gonna be a memorable weekend fo sho.
I first heard the Old 97's when a friend bought me Satellite Rides as a going away present when I moved to Austin in 2001 and I've been a fan ever since. This band is a treasure trove of American music and this song is great, looking forward to the new album!
Boys. I remember seeing you on your life tour in Champaign illinois. Mark from Indy. You put me on the guest list, took me backstage before the show and then let me put a song on the set list. Old familiar steam. I was in heaven
One of my absolute favorite bands of all time. Nice work and congratulations gentlemen. Looking forward to seeing y'all when you pass through the Northeast.
I can picture Murry walking into that Old 97 gas station and buying road snacks for the band. Nice job fellas! Look forward to the album. See you at the Aladdin
Lovely, lovely stuff! Cannot wait to hear another amazing album from you guys. Also, i declare, by the power vested in me, that the Old 97's are all officially honorary Pennsylvanians.
Damn beautiful song, this is a good year to get back to the Old 97's & Rhett's music, so many great songs & albums, gonna take a time machine & an 18 wheel tractor trailer, now where's that release date & track list!
I love this! Listening reminds me of the two times I saw your band way back when in San Francisco. The first time (I think...) was a record release at Ameba Records on Height Street, the next time was at an outdoor concert on an Embarcadero Pier next to the Bay Bridge. I was fortunate to meet you guys both times. Awesome music then, awesome now! Cheers! ✌️
Beautiful song. Whenever I used to make CD’s for friends, I’d always include Broadway or Roller Skate Skinny or Bird In A Cage or Big Brown Eyes. Glad there’s a New Song to become my New Favorite.
I saw them in a tiny bar in Champaign Illinois on their wreck your life tour. In the primitive days of Internet messaging I connected with Ken, they put me on the guest list and I went backstage before the show and drank some beers and ate some food. They let me put a song on the set list. Old familiar steam. They said they hadn't played that one in a while but they played it for me.
Nicely done, Rhett & Co.. Great use of the word Bardo, and, more important, a real sense of the near-loss of someone dear and the ephemeral nature of all of this. Xx
You know it's gonna be a good day when a new Old 97's music video pops up in your notifications.
Exactly! 👍
Totally!
Hell yes it is
Yeah

I feel like I've actually seen it in PA. I have some vague recollection of thinking it was cool and also looked cool on the plate

Quit trying to shamelessly promote yourself
And to complete the circle, my son is there at 2:57 - 2:58, in the front row at the London gig at the end of last year - joy for the generations!
@@whiteyfisk9769 He’s sharing a memory. Perhaps don’t be so judgmental and have a quiet moment.
Rhett, I’m so glad you decided to stick around.
Old 97s will never get old... even when I'm 97. Real artistry with this combo. Much love.
Played this at my dads funeral. Love you forever dad!!!

Lucky you! You'll love digging into the whole discography.
Wonderful song!. Got a little wet eye there.... LOVE the old footage got me thinking, "wait was I at that show? What about that one?!"
Was a gut punch for me to realize that I was at one of those shows almost 30 years ago.
Old Friends since late 90's times: Thank you, thank you, thank you : )

Seen them twice they play tight like the kinks Rhett's compositions are work of art
Good job boys. And nice video too. The band is in their 4th decade together and still cruising along. 👏👏
Wow! We're growing old together, aren't we? Been a fan since Fight Songs.
Reminds me of seeing them at Fitzgeralds in 1999. And many times since. The soundtrack to my post youth.

I have nothing against this band, but a real Pennsylvanian wouldn't be caught dead singing about Ohio.
Nice work. Great song. Shout out from Danville, VA.

It's funny the songs you mentioned to me are relatively new. I first heard of them in 1994
