- Years after Colonel Christopher Blair (Mark Hamill; Star Wars, Batman: The Animated Series) single-handedly ended the deadly war with the Kilrathi, a new enemy emerges from far cross the stars. Now, it is the duty of the TCS Midway and her crew to stop these deadly aliens before it's too late. This space combat adventure focuses on 2nd Lieutenant Lance Casey; the son of a legendary ace pilot and new recruit into the Confederation Space Force. Alongside veteran pilots Maniac (Thomas F. Wilson; Back to the Future) and Hawk (Chris Mulkey, Rambo: First Blood, The Purge) and his fellow new recruits, Casey will face a terrifying new enemy with ancient origins. Co-starring Peter Jason (They Live, HBO's Deadwood), Jeremy Roberts (Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country) and adult actress Ginger Lynn Allen.
NOTES:
-It's far from perfect. Over-all. Video, audio, editing. Expect warts.
-It's fake HD. But in my experience youtube doesn't like SD stuff, and drops the bitrate so uploading an upconverted video results in better quality.
-The video is from the DVD vobs released a few years ago, but those were non-anamorphic so I had to resize all of the FMV.
-There was some kind of graphics glitch on my game...turning off lens flares kind of minimized it, but there are still weird lines around certain objects (pretend they are old school matte boxes!) and the moving stars appear in front of objects.
-Some plot points don't seem to really be covered very well in the game itself. Like the Tiamat dreadnought. I never found any kind of cutscene, briefing or VDU comm that introduces it to the cast. There are a few other things like this, such as Blair insisting to fly and then not really doing so until the end.
-Some of the briefings do not have the computer voice and instead I left the text up longer to give time to read it. The reason for this is some of the time the damned game wouldn't play the sound files, as far as I know there is no way to extract the audio from the game files
-I suck at videogames, so there is some sloppy flying during the game footage
-The in-game HUD is SOOOO not 16x9 friendly, so it's stretched a bit and window-boxed. It won't fill your screen
-Some shots of the Midway have fighters crashing into the ship. It's not my fault, it's bad AI. I achieved the shots by setting my fighter up and afterburning while using rear view and my wingmen decided they ought to follow me...even if it meant going through the ship's hull.
-If you get annoyed at wingmen saying the same thing over and over try playing rhe game. I know you can shut them up, but comms chatter adds to drama
-I only used one non-George Oldziey song in the entire thing, because German metal doesn't exactly fit
-The sync seems to be a bit off for part 2, Rendering took 11 hours and uploading took about 6, so I am not in a hurry to re-do it.
-Working on getting a file of the complete movie uploaded to wcnews.com, the sync on that file is fine since it's a different render.
Mark Hamil's been my favorite from the very beginnings of his Hollywood SciFi Stardom.
Watching this made me a 10 year old, now I gotta clean the icecream off my monitor again.
Great game and good follow up to Wing Commander 3 and 4. Wish they kept this going.
There is always Star Citizen if they ever finish it.

They need to do a sequel to this. Blair shouldn’t be left in limbo.
Author Peter Telep was writing a trilogy of novels covering the Movie and the Pilgrims but the final book got canceled. Turns out he actually had an idea to save Blair (the manuscript was posted online with EA's blessing). Basically young Blair has a vision of his older self returning to Earth with the rest of the Pilgrim fleet which implied Blair got rescued by the Pilgrims. However I'm not entirely sold on that explanation since I'm not very fond of the Pilgrims. That last novel gives the Pilgrims way too many powers that feel more like Gundam's Newtypes than Wing Commander.
Oh, and that future vision was of the Pilgrims laying waste to Earth hinting that ANOTHER war was on the horizon.
They kind of did, Secret Ops was a kind of follow up to Prophecy, released on a PC Gamer cover disc back in the late 90s.
They have a sequel it is called Squadron 42. That is if they ever finish it.

I loved playing this game, so funny remembering the part game and part video together like that. Never realized 'Blair' was actually Mark Hamill during the CSs
41:46 - I had a good chuckle seeing that ship bounce off the carrier.
The enemy wanted to capture "Midway" just to have its bar with alcoholic drinks ...
That is why our heroes were trying hard to empty the reserve, before falling into enemy's hands ...
And at the very end "why aren't you joining the party on the flight deck?" Um, because I'm next to the free bar, and for some reason, absolutely none of the hundreds working there are taking advantage of it.
Regardless, this video game was epic, I'm watching this back 20 years after playing it and I had a huge grin on my face for about 3 hours.
Also, Blair got a better death scene than Luke Skywalker, let that one sink in.
There are a few scenes in the cutscenes which could actually be edited together to form a better ending for Christopher Blair if someone wanted to make an alternate, good conclusion to the series. The way I imagine these scenes could be edited together would form the following ending:
1. Blair is not rescued before the ending, but just after the last mission instead (rescued by marine team sent onboard, marine team does not die). So, Casey is recommended for the Silver star, he says "To hell with that! What about the prisoners?", learns that they saved Blair, and then goes to talk with him. Blair talks about what the aliens did to him (memories relived etc), and what they represent ("Death").
2. Scene of Casey + gang together on the flight deck attending medal ceremony. They all congratulate Casey. Blair is watching. He salutes Casey, turns and walks away (from one of the earlier mission success cutscenes).
3. Skips to bar - everyone's drinking, talking, having a good time (from one of the earlier interaction cutscenes).
4. Casey + Girl (can't remember her actual name) pouring glass of private reserve of alcohol. Casey says that the aliens will be back one day. His first line "What should we drink to, Blair?" is skipped and he just says "To comrades and arms!". They both drink.
5. While staring into space, the series ends on a more positive note - Blair was rescued in the end, has done his part, passes the torch onto the next generation with dignity, and the new gang celebrate their success while looking toward the future. Will the aliens be back? If so, humanity is in good hands - this new generation is ready to kick their arses.

love this game and was hard as hell to tougher then fighting the cats them dam bugs cord take most fighters shields in 2 to 3 hits and take out your armor in 4 to 5 hits and from what you can see even a good pilot well get hit at lest that many times with how you get outnumbered at some points 10 to 1 but still had a great time playing this game

I used to watch my dad play this when I was 6 or 7 years old back in the day. I would say, "Hey! Thats the same guy who did Luke Skywalker". Then would be so upset watching him die in this game. I wish he would have survived since he was in most of the games.

I, for one, enjoyed WC5 as much as I did WC4. Great game! Dunno why everyone was hating on it.

I am jealous! This really cool movie has been out for how long and I have missed it? I am really Glad I watched this movie.Very good Movie. I was really captivated . Movies like that need more money for better graphics . Given what it is I enjoyed the movie. Thank you ! Someone worked really hard.
The graphics were as good as a PC could manage at the time.
Skywalker... errmm I mean Blair.. could have used some Clone Commandos to help clear out those bugs!
For bugs you need the Roughnecks.
The sudden pick up and usage of the plasma weapon was a bit crude because I remember there being a few missions in between. There should have also been a mission where ship-killer missiles were on the way to the Midway because it gave me a lot of trouble as a kid, as well as a mission against a large station controlled by the bugs; and not the one where Blair is kidnapped. Other than parts cut out from both part 1 and 2, this was really fun to watch again after so many years.
a lot of missions really. for example the one with the huge antenna and the trap with TCS Eisen on the other side of jump point sending the whole Wolfpack squadron through.

My god I loved the wing commander series. It told a great story and had branching paths that actually seemed to have effect on the world around you. I really wish they made a new one. The last good space sim i can think of would be freelancer but that was back in 2003. I've got everspace but it doesn't do it for me. Anyone have any suggestions?

The game wasn't the same once the Kilrathi were not the main antagonists! WC4 held its own as they had a great story about Tolwyn being completely corrupted after being so exposed so long in warfare. This just didn't do so well
Blair survive if his bio is to be believed . He come back to confed when he was very old but by that time confed have already lose their war with the pilgrim.

Despite the speedboost it gives, its not very practical for a Super-Carrier imo. How does such a vessel ever prepare a Magnum-Launch? They cna only launch 2 vessel at a time. Ok they can probably detect incoming enemy's from a long distance, but still...

I hated this game because they took out all the interactivity of the protagonist, you where just along for the ride.
Also they completely removed all the cool ships from WC4 and replaced them with horrible ships and a boring enemy.
A year later Freespace was released and they did a so much better job of it !
Prophecy was fun, but nowhere near as good as 3 or 4 were. And yeah, Freespace and especially Freespace 2 were phenomenally good games.
well, for this game the new studio already drove out the designer, and then for freespace the designer had a new studio (MS) but no more the whole universe/story rights.
so we got two games that could have been masterpieces but got crippled due to corporate interests.

Loved the game hated the fact they killed off Blair who was my favorite in this series...they should have given him a better end honestly...all in all great game.

Doug Stokes . I guess Blair and his mechanic Rachel didn't stay together. They looked so happy together at the end of my playthrough of WC3. Also kind of a anticlimactic ending.
The novelisation of WC4 explains that Rachel left Blair due to him becoming an alcoholic after the destruction of Kilrah.
After playing (sort of) as Blair for the last 4 games, I wish they never bring him back on this one and instead let him finally have his peace elsewhere; I do not like how the story treated him after all that he's been through; and never quite explain what is the problem between Blair and that bossy "commander air group"

Freespace (Freespace 1, more like) may have plagiarized WC5, but what is important, Freespace did not suck, much unlike WC 5.
Hmmm...really; I just realized that WC5 came out before FS1. In my mind I always thought the Freespace plotline came out first. I certainly remember playing FS1 before Prophecy. Maybe like you said, FS didn't suck...anyway, Prophecy was OK.

The game part was braindead easy (you only could not win the mission where you were supposed to place the beacon for your super cannon by killing the entire enemy fleet yourself because the game had no cutscene for that) and failed to provide spectacle that hardware already allowed, the movie part failed to establish the bugs as a credible threat.

This game made me realize how great of an actor Malcolm McDowell is. He made WC4 amazing. This game was a bad script with terrible acting outside of a few good performances

They released a DVD of the cut scenes.
I have now watched both parts 1 & 2 now. The storyline and internal scenes were very good. However from the launch sequences through the battle scenes are very clearly game console CGI. And not good CGI at that. That all needs be reworked heavily.
With all the booze they are drinking...I'm surprise they can fly in a straight line!!! Unless it's a new avoidance missile technik!
Yeah man, I think I see a way that they could win the war easier. Just take away the booze. These pilots are sauced the whole time.

Good, because i would then say that Albert G is the one lifting copyrighted material not the other way around as you proclaim in your original statement. Unless Albert G wrote his story long before Prophecy released in November of 1997. Also, if you are talking about the Babylon 5 Third Space Aliens from the Made for TV move, Babylon 5: Third Space, then JMS stole the Third space aliens from Prophecy since Third Space was release in 1998, a year AFTER the release of Prophecy.
And you do know that this is a compilation of all of the cut scenes and some important game play from a PC Game right? The wording of your original post makes it sound like this is something that a individual did in their spare time.
Thirdspace was actually filmed in late 1997, but didn't air until 98, so it's unlikely JMS copied anything from WCP.

The big guy with his high rank and credentials walks over to the lower ranked female and puts his large paw on her shoulder. Then no big deal. Today he gets sued for sexual harassment.

Man i just wish they let you play this game as blair aswell. Afhter 4 games you think he deserved mario status. But i gues filming mark Hammil less was more cost effiecient

The gaming aspect killed the film. Every time i was trying to understand what it is they were showing us. Would have preferred real special effects.

The HUD in this game is crap. What no defensive or offensive weapons on Carrier? Launch time is too damn slow.

To me this game was a dissapointment story wise, but then I played Freespace the Great War and I felt that game is what WC5 should have been. Better at almost everything.
Wow, this is really bad. No one wonder everyone say this game was shit! But by the time it came out, nearly every gaming studio had an Alien Attack stick up their ass. It was either aliens or zombies, or demons. I read articles claiming that PC gaming was dead in favor of consoles. (Remember that argument? HAH!!)

and the ship goes down the hole...again. How many times do we need to see a ship moved into launch position to understand that's how it happens? Bad storytelling...but better than The Force Awakens.

Midway is terrible name for aircraft carrier. 10 of the 11 carriers involved got sunk. It wasn’t a good battle for anyone. We didn’t shoot down their fighters, only carriers, our planes got massacred in the air. Only possible type come out on top was submarine, both sinking carrier and picking up survivors.
Kinda like naming a fort ‘Alamo’ again. Lol.
