Keep in mind there is a big difference between using super thick oil and Just slightly thicker. Of course going from 0w30 to a 15W40 will do damage. But 0W30 to 0W40 is perfectly fine and actually better since you’re still getting the 0W cold start flow

In 1924 there was a group known as the Phoebus cartel who decided lightbulbs lasted too long, so they decided to reduce the lifespan of lightbulbs to 1000 hrs, regardless of manufacturer. This is called planned obsolescence and it extends to every major industry that produces a product. Vehicle manufacturers have been implementing planned obsolescence for a few years now. Materials are getting weaker, components can’t be serviced anymore just replaced, and proper fluids won’t be used as described in this video. It’s terrible

Exactly, it’s all planned obsolescence. I like your point and the brief history lesson. They want to sell you a new engine or a new vehicle once the warranty period runs out

I've had my s10 4.3 single cab since it was drove of the dealership in 1991 it says to run 5w30 but I've run a thicker weight oil as well don't believe these dealership they in for the money all I've changed on this s10 since it was new is a starter fule pump and tires ever once in a while still got cold ac and heat been the best truck I've ever owned

I'd be curious to see some studies on these at say 60k 100k with both oils and see how things hold up. Great video man

Thanks for the comment. A good
Example is the B9/B9.5 Audi S4 and RS5 with the V6. They call for 0W20. That’s way too thin, for a twin turbo V6 and 10k drain intervals. no wonder they suffer from premature rocker arm failure. Just read the forums if you don’t believe me! It’s all planned obsolescence

@@arsenyrazhkov4559 I wouldn't say i disagree just love to learn about this stuff. I don't think you've ever lead me astray in the euro market.i used to work with VW and it blew my mind they wanted to do 10k intervals on the 2.0T even much less a twin.

Complete BS. You don’t know anything. There is a reason why manufacturers recommend specific oil grades to match tolerances that the engines were designed for. Not all engines are the same, take a direct injection AE839, you put anything thicker than 0w20, you’ll suffer from low speed pre ignition effectively grenading your engine as the thick oil will push past the low tension piston rings, mix with the un-atomized gas droplets and boom, especially when cold. Facts don’t care about your opinions and until you can offer proof and lab results for each engine comparing manufacturer recommended oil and grades compared to whatever you decided works best with placebo effect, I would just stfu.

@@ayrtonm7907 get educated. starting with the fact that both engine codes are the same (CYMC) for 2017-2018 engines that call for 5W40 as well as my allroad (year 2020) that calls for 0W20. internally the engines have 0 differences. How do I know that? I rebuild these engines for a living already had a 2021 Q5 apart for a failure, and a 2018 A5 side by side. They are identical internally. Again, get educated please before you comment. Keep being naive, keep putting in piss water. Just like B9 S4 recommending 0W20, no wonder the rocker arms failing left and right. “There is a reason manufactures use 0W20” yeah that reason is to kiss the government’s ass and get better fuel economy and less emissions. That oil does nothing for engine protection and suffers from extreme viscosity breakdown

Actually the engine running hotter in order to get passed emission test.
