The concept of a pedalboard amplifier brings many benefits. With the Terror Stamp, you can arrive at any gig with only your guitar and pedalboard and either plug straight into any guitar cabinet or direct into the front of house with its built in cab sim output. At home or in the studio, it can speed be a huge help when you just want to quickly get your ideas recorded. Orange Terror Stamp gives you all this flexibility without sacrificing their legendary tube tone. Inside this pedal-sized amp is a tube preamp section loaded with a 12ax7 and a modern solid state power amp that can happily drive a 4x12 with 20W of output. Hook the Terror Stamp last in your pedal chain and pair it with your favorite cabinet. You then have the option to place wet effects in its tube buffered effects loop and switch between two master volume levels with the footswitch. The Shape control is simple but very effective. Clockwise: you’ll hear the mids dip and much tighter bass and sparkling treble. As you decrease the Shape, mids are pushed while the tone is bigger and darker. Best of all, it costs about the same as your average boutique overdrive, only it’s a complete rig in the palm of your hand! Check out Orangeamps.com for more info.

Two things that never disappoint... Orange & Andy!
Got tired of seeing demos of this pedal by people that spend more time buying gear than they do practicing, you can only hear a sloppy pentatonic run into a bend so many times... Andy NEVER disappoints. The playing always fits the gear and never the other way around.
Andy does the best demos.Plays songs (no aimless noodling) & multiple styles that FIT the demo'd product, provides enough info but doesn't yap away.As always good job Andy.
This. Is. Incredible!
Now I wanna get one! Great demo, thanks!
Very cool concept. Demo as always 🔥🔥
With the gain setting on 7 the tone is just sublime 👌
Always some of the best displays of merchandise. Getting me 2 of these.
Great demo! Mine is on the way.
Dig it as always Andy. Enjoyed your reviews since pro guitar shop
Snagged one of these as soon as they dropped. I've wanted an Orange amp for years but too poor and here this comes answering all my hopes and needs. Jus had to see what Andy would do with it
Sounds pretty dang good!
I've come to realize that it's time to join the 21st century and get more modern amplifier, and this Orange amp is ticking all my boxes.
Great demo as always, Andy. 😎👍
Good, maybe those vintage tube amps will get cheaper :)
@@AndreaAustoni more ridiculously heavy amps that need servicing for you then! But seriously different strokes for different folks
Killer, as always. Now I need a Terror Stamp for our Colliders. :)
This thing is great. I love it.
Very versatile, takes pedals really well, and is loud af!
Good bang for the buck.
Sounds great! They did a good job capturing the "Orange Sound" in this thing. Wonder if we will start seeing more ODs with Cab Sims and loops...
It's literally a Micro Dark in a different box, it sounds like an Orange amp because it IS an Orange amp, not an OD
@@src248 Ya, I just meant that I see potential for Overdrive pedals to do basically the same thing. Shouldn't have said "more".
@@4stringjoe2 or you can buy the Victory V4 Dutchess Lunchbox/Pedal form Amplifier... It's gonna run you around 500.00 though. But....2 gain stages and a built in termolo.
The highlights from your studio lights threw me off in the beginning Andy (regarding where the knobs were set), but I figured it out :)
Great demo of a great, little, versatile piece of kit!
Man, dude, you jam!
Well I've been left desperately wanting a fat bee. That thing is incredible.
Andy, do you have any original music released anywhere? Your jams are great.
I'm a simple man. I see Orange, I click.
I'm also a simpler man. I see Andy, I click.
Buy two of these, stereo 2x12 cab and build cheapo wet/dry (or dual mono) rig, for massive tone :-OOO
That's exactly what I did, 2 1x12 cabs and an ac30 as the dry amp, sounds so big unlike the cost
Hi - what do you think about using this as a preamp ( say, in a Crush head) bypassing the preamp section in the Crush head? Seems to me the tube might give you the "feel"/sag of a tube amp? Just spitballin' here...
3:30 introduces Andy's lovely assistant.
Iv been using the stamp for sometime now, I have it going into a Musicman 4x12 and it’s so dam loud, it’s super loud, I only use it in a band setting and we play in a huge venue it’s like an airplane hanger and I don’t mic up!!, it’s in stereo with with a musicman HD 212 150 watt tube amp going into another 4x12 and it keeps ups, and that’s playing clean no break up with pedals for dirt.
Do you use an ab/y or is there a way to chains them all together
@@justinlambert9957 I run in stereo and wet dry, my chorus is a vibrato on one amp it’s my secret weapon
My effects pedals split it into stereo
Considering this Terror Stamp has a solid state power amp section, could it be used exclusively as a preamp? e.g: Going from it’s FX loop “out” into another (more powerful) amps “return”.
This would be interesting to know….
@@jazznotes3802yes!!!
I'd rather listen to this dude than Bonamassa or any of those other dudes. Andy has a great approach not only to these demos but his playing is wonderful and inspiring. Thanks man.
Sounds great. The gain seems to take on a fuzz character after mid-way on the dial, which was also my experience with the micro dark. Useful, but wouldn't be my main high gain sound. Can anyone speak to how well it takes an OD boost, or a full-blown amp-in-a box drive medal like the Angry Charlie?
What is that bass on the wall behind Andy?
Great for cleans and dirty at home for me. Fantastic if you don't have a fuzz pedal. If I want to turn the gain up high. Its very fuzzy. It just must be me and my taste of sound and my picking or something.
So true... with the gain maxed you've got a superb fuzz pedal. I could happily use just this amp for everything from clean to OD to Fuzz. But then I couldn't keep blowing all my money on pedals so I'm not gonna do that.
How do you use the effects loop and line out at the same time? Do you split the signal right before it goes into the return and send one half to the interface?
I like how you move the Onondaga with your foot 😂😂
Darn cool.
My new gear indeed...
Hey Andy, fantastic playing and great demo! I really like this pedal. Question: you mention that the distortion pedal is the last thing in the signal chain, after modulation type effects. I always thought you should place any sort of distortion pedals (as well as compression pedals) in front of modulation pedals? Am I incorrect or mis-informed?
You have the right idea, in general. However, since the distortion pedal IS the amp, you would have no choice but to put all pedals before it. That's why Orange added the FX loop, so those modulation or delay FX can be "placed" after the preamp (the distortion) and before the speaker output. This is all assuming you are using the Terror Stamp as an amp. If you want to use it as a pedal, yes you can place is wherever you need! Hope that clarifies it.
@@AndyDemos Thank you!!! Yes, that does clarify it.
You need to use the supplied PSU 'brick'. IIRC it's the same one as the MicroTerror and MicroDark 15V 2A centre +ve regulated, unless your pedalboard PSU can deliver this 30w spec. On the good side the PSU wattage is rated higher, than the amp output wattage. Not always the case with some other makes.
I own one and from what I can gather, there is an input transformer in the power supply. I think it adds to the small size of the Stamp itself. Anyway this is an awesome little amp. ✌️🇦🇺
Hi guys ,I just use 65w power bank for laptops and microscheme that gives 15 volts so it's less space required , also pedals supplied with that power bank
You Should be Playing with TONIC!!!Very much has that Wonderful Drop D Thing They Often did.
I love mine, use it clean with a Angry Charlie for the dirt!
me too👍 also a tumnus sounds great
How's the headroom before it starts to break up on its own?
Hey Andy - perhaps a stupid question but can this be run into e.g. a normal fender tube amp to get a more orange like sound, or is it only for cabs?
That’s a great question: you can but only if you use the Line out (FX loop send). This would allow you to use just the tube preamp portion into other pedals/amps. Thanks!
Andy, could this compete with a rythm section? Or would the need to turn down to compensate?
I have one and it is shockingly loud for 20 watts. that being said, depends on the band for loud enough. I run a 500x through the fx loop for fx only no amp/cab sim into 4x12 and it is plenty loud
“Applause “
Bru, your playin is slicker than two eels screwin in a barrel of olive oil
How load is the fx section and does the master vol change the fx section vol? Wondering if i am using line 6 stomp in the terror fx loop to power my amp can it compete with drumms while playing live
Great demo!
Would the Stamp still sound good at low volumes for playing quitely in a flat/apartment? I read one reviewer say it sounded thin at low volumes.
Or maybe I can connect the Stamp to my audio interface, then to studio monitors, and control the volume that way?
That all depends on your cabinet (regarding the low volume quality) but speakers generally sound bigger when louder. I would definitely suggest using the cab sim output into DAW through monitors for greater volume control. Either way, you’re still using a solid state power amp. Best,
Andy
Thanks for the explanation!
Hey. I appreciate the video. Any tips for using the Cab Sim? I plugged headphones intoit and it sounded killer, but I'm getting buzz with either plugging into a PA or an audio interface. Tried 2 different pedals and same deal. Might be just me? The out appears to stereo, what interface are you using, etc? Cable?
It’s pretty straightforward, use your normal guitar cable or TRS balanced cable at the headphone out to send to any interface input or a PA. It’s not stereo. If other pedals are noisy going into your PA then you have an outside issue, perhaps your PA isn’t grounded. Also, always use the 15V power supply on the Terror or you may get noise. Best,
Andy
@@AndyDemos it's not stereo? I'll check in another location, I def might have electrical issues here. But I get buzz when only using the terror stamp. But not in headphones. I'll check the adapter and trya few different things. Appreciate the reply.
I have one of these now, to complete the set. The supplied PSU on mine sends low level 'motorboating' noise over the 'cab sim' out. The Microterror and Microdark PSUs don't do this, so either the Stamp is more sensitive to the PSU or the Mocro's PSUs have better screening (or my particular Stamp has a fault). It'll be worth checking for this noise ASAP, if you don't have an alternative PSU, assuming you want to use the cab sim out.
Mine does exactly the same. Good to hear it can be fixed with a different power supply
Was looking for this issue as well and motorboat sound is the most accurate way to describe it…I turn up the volume on this plugged in via cabsim out and instantly get that sound especially when I have gain up. I thought it was my headrush frfr speakers but now I know I dont have to trade this one in just yet…
Wonder how this sounds through the orange pedalbaby, would it sound like an actual higher volume amp or just a pedal hmm
So. Is this the micro terror in a different form factor. (And a second volume)?
Also. I love the channel. Like others I go back to the earlier PGS days (bought a catalinbread echorec from your videos)
My pocketbook though.... well it wishes I never found gear demos at all!
It's the Micro Dark, but yes
Could I plug this into my mixer which goes into my PA system.
Yes, you'd use the cab sim output!
Hey Andy ! Thanks for the superbe demo, as usual. I'm pretty late at the party but I'd have some questions about this little thing, maybe you or a viewer will be able to answer me.
I want to try the Terror Stamp very soon as I move a lot for my jobs, the aim would be to do small gigs. I red everywhere the volume is too low for a band setting when you chase after a clean/edge of breackup tone. I was thinking about a few possibilities to deal with this problem :
- Cranking the gain and cleaning my tone with the guitar's volume pot when needed. Does it clean well when the gain is cranked a bit more than what you showed in your demo, and does it keeps a respectable ammount of volume ?
- Setting the Terror Stamp to edge of breackup and boosting it with a pedal in front of it (I have a Lateral Phonics Marrakesh preamp which covers everything from clean boost/eq to fuzz territory with quite a lots of volume on tap)
Any insight about that ? Thanks !
Can this be lined into a guitar combo Amp?
Yes, you just out the effects send as the line out and it gives the signal post preamp/drive and without the cabinet simulated sound.
Hi, I need to know 3 things about this box: 1) Can it be used as a simple dirt pedal through an actual amp? (NOT a cab, but a combo or head). 2) And if so, can it take other pedals before AND after it, again like a simple dirt pedal? Maybe using the send/return? 3) Can its line out (NOT the speaker cab.sim.) go directly into a PA?
Great questions! 1) Yes, you can use it like any other overdrive with the Line Out and run it into an amplifier. 2)The preamp is made to handle any pedals before if (because it is an amp itself). 3) Yes, you can use Line out without Cab sim to a PA or Interface (it will sound very direct). Thanks!
@@AndyDemos Wow thanks man for the quick and detailed reply, you're such a great guitar guru 🙂
andy is great! But even in 1080HD the knob indicators are giving ghost dots at 9, 11 and 2 o'clock
I want to say maybe I heard Making plans for Nigel by XTC?
Can you use the cab sim output with nothing plugged into the speaker output?
Absolutely, it doesn't require a speaker load like most tube amps. Thanks!
@@AndyDemos Great. Thanks for your reply.
Power needed? Is the power supply as big as the pedal?
its like a laptop power supply : ok if you got room under your pedal board
It comes with a 15V DC power supply, looks like a laptop brick.
Nice thanks! I like that you can direct out. Would make for a nice option.
what bass is that behind you?
Reverend Mike Watt Wattplower 👍🏻
Greetings from Shanghai China
Is it or is it not a micro terror with cabsim and fx loop?
Micro Dark with a cabsim. According to Orange.
What should I use if straight into interface? Cab sim or line out?
Good question, if you are applying any amp/cab plugins or IRs to the direct signal in your DAW, I'd used the Line Out for a blank canvas. If you don't apply any of these effects or plugins, use the Cab Sim to get an amp-like recording. There's really no wrong way to use it, sometimes Line Out without any amp/cab sim sounds great (on bass, for example). Thanks for watching!
@@AndyDemos thank you, this is helpful
Its an incredible little amp but you can improve it 300% by putting a different tube in there. Mine going into a Supro 1x12 cab sounds amazing.
What tube, and what would that difference be?
@@jevonwhite5193diffetent tubes, slightly different voltages, etc. You just have to try different ones. It's a rabbit hole, though.
@jevonwhite5193 sorry, I never got a notification that you replied to me. I tried an EHX and got twice as much volume with cleaner tones at higher gain. Then tried an expensive Mullard tube and I got a little more of both again so I stuck with that one. Very happy and much improved. EHX 12AX and Mullard 12AU7
@@conanbrophy4406I also didn't get a notification of your reply, just saw it now. Thanks for the details on the tubes. I think it's worth a shot that I try one, if even out of curiosity. Thanks!
I wish you could tighten up the gain without using an overdrive in high gain, but I love the clean and the point of breakup.
Swap out the Chinese preamp tube and adjust the trim pot under the hood. Simple no solder mods.
@@joey-mp3qc I just got one of these. What does the trim pot do exactly?
@@jonathanguerrero7394 from what I've read from other users, it adjusts the gain setting.
Andy, I'm curious if your recording set up and process has remained the same or evolved since the last chapter with PGS.
I try not to 'evolve' in terms of using all kinds of rack gear and plugins, although I could easily do that. I use the same Royer mic R-121 and generally the same Fender Deluxe Reverb or Hamstead Artist 60 for pedal demos. I recently added the OX Attenuator but still mic a cab and mix it will the 'virtual cabs' for more depth and realism. I've always wanted to keep it as true to what your ears hear in the room. Thanks for watching!
@@AndyDemos I've been a fan since the days of the G&L Legacy into that 65 Amps SOHO, and have no intent of stopping! Thanks for all you do!
Yeah years and years now! Cheers!
Excellent demo! The only thing I dont like about this amp is the shape knob. I find that it has very little useful settings.
It changes multiple frequencies at once not just high end. Try listening to how it affects the midrange when you place a fuzz into it. It is quite useful for reshaping the sound from “US” to “UK” tones. Thanks!
I found it genius! Very useful and full proof. Did not feel that I need more EQs. Goes from round jazzy tone to bright and glassy changing overall eq in a smart way.

These are just rebranded Nux pedals, nothing special.
I miss your pointy finger.
those fingers are probably pure leather by now
Ol' Andy plastic fingers.
sorry to see that it´s 15v, center positive.....WHY? the could have made it 18v, center negative and you could power it by combining two outputs on your pedal power unit !! i know it´s becaus they wanna charge 30 bucks for their own adaptercable
It's not just voltage, it's about current. The Terror Stamp requires (2A) which is way more than most multi-pedal power supplies can provide. The power supply is also included with the pedal.
@@AndyDemos ah ok, thanks
