8 gen 3 needs huge optimization. it is really amazing that 8 gen 2 for galaxy hold better thermal management with playable fps. Really surprise.
I will test PUBG and COD but there... the story repeats, dont have all highest PUBG settings on the Xiaomi 14 Pro as I have in the S23U.

@@nononononame8904Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is a new processor. Game developers need some time to Optimise the games, so after new updates and patches in Games and on the phone, the games will support Highest graphics and thermals will improve.
One issue with your test was that the game wasn't tested in the same area. Different scenes, different amount load, different temps.
thats very correct, he tested the Xiaomi inside the city with many buildings, and the samsung he was driving on an empty low dense area with no buildings. which makes the test hard to compare devices.

Only thing that maks sense here is that 8gen3 just released, barely any optimization ongoing, not saying it's unfair it is the current reality so still good to see this, but you should make an update video later down a few months to see how the 8gen3 will handle the same scenario.

The snapdragon 8 gen2 was optimized specifically for the s23 lineup. The numbers on benchmark scores only show so much.

Yes, that's correct. I try to drive to the same location, or at least circa same setting in terms of environment, ambient lighting and etc.
For sure more support from developers is required....major titles still no 60FPS support and etc... Need to revisit after some time I guess

If people really want to see what the 8 Gen3 is capable of, then they are going to have to wait for it to be released in the S24 series. Xiaomi were never going to do the thing justice.
I think the xiaomi was running hotter and lower fps because he was driving in the city, on the samsung he was on a highway away from the city, I dont think this test is really accurate as your performance will vary depending on the location of the map your on and what your rendering, if you render an empty road away from a lot of objects it makes sense you will get good performance, if you are in a populated city with traffic and more buildings you need to process more things, this is the same in any open world game.
you can only turn off gos with net guard...in your case gos is still active and just let you to have better performance for 2-3 degree more than usual!

Usually once every 4-5 iterations snapdragon produces one of their best processor. We had previously snapdragon 865 (7nm) in 2020, now we have snapdragon 8 gen 2 (4nm) in 2023.
The 8gen2 will become a true legend!

HyperOS is way better than One Ui 6, there are every S23 users complaining about One Ui 6 and regrets that they shouldnt have updated their device

Try to be at same place on CarX Street. Cause the city area has frame drop. But bridge highway have good fps.
And don't use performance mode on CarX Street in Xiaomi. Cause when I use performance mode on my phone after some time it does force stop idk why!
After android 14 my cousin Pixel 6 has really bad frame drop issue. He said it was fine on android 13. So CarX Street might not optimize for Android 14 as well🤔
Performance Mode on Xiaomi is actually for daily usage if any of you guys want smooth experience in daily tasks. Only use Game Turbo for games, Game Turbo overclocks your hardware for games you play. Performance mode overclocks your hardware for all of user interface and bloatwares in general. Use Performance mode in cautions

It is also very important to activate priority mode to obtain maximum performance on Samsung cell phones. In my case, this Game Booster function helped a lot. Thanks for the great video 👏🏻
Tnx man, yes that's correct. I also used game booster on the HyperOS for max performance, but fb messenger with camera on top just killed it.

hold up why didn't you test in identical areas for the game play? I have a feeling that optimization is playing a large part early on in the 8gen3s life but it's an important variable to factor in if one ends up rendering way more in a scene than the other. Additionally, are there any settings for the video-call which show a quality difference like if either device was transmitting at a higher quality- meaning more CPU power is needed. Lastly, are games themselves rendering at different resolutions?

one suggestion.. when xiaomi struggled (in both parts), there was way too more details and lights to render, which is totally not fair; I am sure samsung would also have a lot lower fps in the same condition, but not sure how much lower
I'm note 20 ultra user, so don't hate me for protecting xiaomi here hahaha
I try when I can, but the idea here is different, playing the game on its own would be okay (I did test it in others tests you can check).
Having a fb video call on top maxes out CPU to 99% and the phone throttles.
This combo is a no go for the Xiaomi 14 Pro at the moment in the CarX Street game, could be game isn't optimized and etc, but fb messenger took 55% of the battery for that 15 min of gameplay and the game itself 20%...
I will check pubg and CoD, but 8gen3 is too new and Xiaomi 14 Pro is China only atm no global release anytime soon, so once devs optimize their apps and Xiaomi optimizes HyperOS then that will be worth for a retest.
The reality is this right now, and the game area isn't the major factor here.
This game is clearly still not yet optimized for 8Gen 3, how many devices available other than the 2 Xiaomis 🤔

It seems that Samsung has better heat management hardware. It has better absorption and dissipation. The Xiaomi's temp difference between the chasis and cpu is too wide.

The problem here is that the tests done by Qualcomm are all controlled in the laboratory they always promise something above the market and deliver less, in the battery life test the Xiaomi 14 Pro reached 48 degrees and lost to the previous ones in autonomy, the winner of the test was the IPhone 15 Pro Max, I do not take the tests done by Qualcomm as true since what they promise is all illusory.

I own an S23 Ultra and love the thing to bits, but Samsung will get the best out of the 8 Gen3 in the S24 series for sure, mark my words. The S23 Ultra is still going to be such a tough act for the S24 Ultra to follow though. It has set the bar so high.

The Xiaomi 14 Pro easily gets at 52C under heavy load which is far from ideal.
Won't affect normal day to day activities but when you push it a bit it will go to the extreme.

With the s9+ I it also had a swollen battery and never behaved as normal, (I think there was something wrong with our current in the house). Im using xiaomi redmi 9t i have got a swollen battery due to overcharging I guess, over the past 3 months I'm still using the phone and the battery is behaving as normal as I bought the phone.

You failed the test, when you make the comparison please be in the exact same places in the games, because on Samsung you were on the edge of the ocean on the map and on Xiaomi you were in the city center, This has a huge impact on processing due to the larger rendering of objects and clearly the Samsung would do worse if it went to the city center, please remake the video
