    Jujutsu Kaisen has recently soured in a lot of fan's perceptions of it, as it has been accused of becoming repetitive and that it is drawing itself out for no reason. Today I want to share my thoughts on this claim, mostly explaining why I don't think its true by both comparing it to other manga contemporaries as well as analyzing the current narrative.

      Yes largely because to me there hasn't benn a moment ware is it felt like the good guys might win since sukuna got hit with the judgement sword
      Most of the fights you mentioned and all the ones amoungst them I actually likes had moments ware it was like omg can x random person actually pull it off and this has lacked those for me
      That acerbates with another issue with the order of the fights even if you were never buying vegeta beating friesza for example you still were hoping he would hold freiza long enough for goku the guy you think actually can win to show up and most of the fights you mentioned have sections like that ware they are buying time foe luffy ichigo Naruto etc the problem is the trump card the guy they would normally buy time for went first and lost which means unless gege can honestly convince you each of these random guys might actually beat sukuna which as I pointed out he is doing worse than other magaka that had something else to fall back on then the fights will feel like pointless filler

      Nah, my goats Yuji and Kusakabe got time to shine, the jjk memes are going even harder now than ever, Sukuna hit a black flash, and best of all the Megumi Fushiguro (A.K.A Potential Man) being trash agenda persists. The chaos in the community + all this heat makes the manga fun to read because I know Gege is gonna do something crazy, the community will tweak, or both. Also as long as my boy Yuji lives to see another day I'll always love jjk.

    Just you wait til Utahime, Miwa, Ui Ui, Mei Mei, Todo with one arm, Inumaki's armless self, Mechamaru's corpse, and Shoko pull up, die, and leave it to the real main character, Panda to win. Panda is boosted by Takaba's comedian, "Wouldn't it be funny is Panda's cursed energy reserves were beyond Sukuna's?" Then Panda performs 9.314 black flashes and a white flash, using Gojo's blindfold or undies as a weapon(like Kusakabe) and unleashing hits imbued with hollow purple. Panda is greatly damaged but uses his newly found reverse cursed energy to heal himself, he unsheathes Yuta's blade and begins to copy Takaba's comedian which is still affecting him, reverse comedian: "Shit yourself". Panda exclaims. "For the first time since birth, Sukuna felt true terror." -Narrator
    Panda kills Sukuna, ending Kaisen JutsuJu.
    Then the next page is the whole cast laughing at a brain dead Sukuna, having these hallucinations from the unlimited void Gojo hit several chapters ago.

    New character introduced, glaze the new character, sukuna gets his ass kicked, almost dies, heroes technique CONVENIENTLY doesn't work, sukuna wins, Sukuna was not even trying.
    None of the fights made any progress because according to gege sukuna is apparently not even trying.

    It has. But it’s Geges own doing. He’s purposely conditioned the audience into thinking no one can beat Sukuna after that “He hasn’t even gone all out yet” from Uraume. Sukuna has survived two methods that were meant to be sure hit kills and he’s defeated the most powerful character on the heroes side. Now it’s like “okay, why do I care if Miguel shows up? He’s just going to get beaten by Sukuna like everyone else” it takes the excitement and intrigue out of the story that was there when Yuta and Yuji were fighting Sukuna.

    • @CJ-qv4sd
      @CJ-qv4sd 6 месяцев назад +1

      Okay but narratively speaking it’s pretty clear that the only person that’s going to beat sukuna here is the MC himself yuji so everyone should’ve known from the beginning that no one else was going to beat sukuna besides yuji narratively speaking as he’s the one that suffered the most from Sukuna’s actions and has the most hatred towards sukuna after what he did in shibuya, stole megumi’s body, and killed Gojo and Higuruma.

      @pubixcube27 6 месяцев назад +14

      @@CJ-qv4sd even with knowing that, which is pretty obvious to some degree, the way it’s been executed hasn’t been that good imo. There could have been something like a macguffin implanted by Gege or a scenario that gives a sense of urgency. For example, Sukuna knowing he’s in his weakest state and in order for him to get back his full power there’s some sort of ritual he needs to do or an object that he needs to obtain for it to happen. That gives the main protagonists something to work towards I.e The mission is to not let Sukuna obtain this object or he will be back at 100%, boom. But when you make it known that no one has a chance in hell then it takes all the edge out of the story and you’re basically waiting for it to end or the monotony to stop.

    • @CJ-qv4sd
      @CJ-qv4sd 6 месяцев назад +2

      @@pubixcube27 you know for a fact everyone is going to still dislike that by calling sukuna a fraud when he’s meant to be the strongest sorcerer in history, I feel like what Gege is trying to do here is make his side characters have their moments to give it their all before the story ends because we already know how anime/manga fans react when they see a story filled with side characters that end up not doing much like Naruto for example (even though I disagree with that take on naruto) so Gege is trying to make everyone give it their all before the final fight so that it’s not all just about yuji. I feel like the reason these past few chapters have annoyed people is because of weekly fatigue as you have to wait every week or two to see a character lose but if you were to read it in volumes you wouldn’t need to anticipate a character losing every week and it would just flow by much better without waiting for anything. If anything this is all just buildup towards yuji finally getting stronger through a possible awakening and beating sukuna in a way that will satisfy everyone that was complaining about him being too strong as we’ve seen this before in other shonen like Frieza for example being too strong on Namek to the point he wasn’t going all out at all and was toying with the Z fighters to him finally going all out against SSJ Goku only to get beaten up and humiliated.

    I think the problem isnt the fact that low level characters are losing to Sukuna, its that they spend so much time hyping them up, and exploring their character motivations, all for it to just not mater. Hikaruma died for literally nothing. He accomplished nothing in the story. Kusakabe dies just so Miguel can come in and be hyped up to fight Sukuna. Imagine my surprise when Sukuna kills him in the next chapter. Same with Maki. What did she do in the fight? She accomplished nothing. This also applies to fights outside of Sukuna's, like Kugisaki's death, or Yuki. It feels like there are so many characters that get introduced to accomplish nothing in the story, which makes people ask the question: why am I still invested in this story?

    It is 100 percent repetitive. Just because there are breaks between chapters and they are released doesn't mean it's not reprieve. It means dragging quite frankly. It's repetitive because it's the same general idea of sukuna fighting someone. Beating them. And having someone else do the same. Kaido fight wasn't repetitive. Just dragged out because how oda sidelined luffy and there was a bunch of stuff going on the raid. The frezia fight was not repetitive. As everyone was waiting for goku to heal, we had piccolo fuse with nail taking on second form frezia. We got a glimpse of more of gohans potential and not to mention vegetas character struggles with frieza. Jjk has nothing like this. Just sukuna getting weaker with every fight and someone else biting the dust. Once all the chapters come out that will absolutely not change how these recent chapters have felt in my opinion opinion. Just because you decide to use a side character doesn't make the story decisions good. Like there are zero stakes when kukasabe joined. It's not a good character or story choice and it did not add to kukasabes character at all. Especially since the fight ended so fast

  • @dejinnthedjinn5311
    @dejinnthedjinn5311 6 месяцев назад +35

    While you've made good points, especially reading the manga as it's being released when that really kills its pacing, to me the reason this fight is repetitive is that it feels like Gege is backing themself into a corner and a lot of the minor victories feel pointless. For example, yes Kashimo did make it so Sukuna couldn't use the Ten Shadows, but that's after he basically killed the good ones, including one we never saw, and while he still would've had Divine Dogs, Rabbit Escape, and Toad, besides DD for offense and RE as a diversion they probably wouldn't be able to do much unless he does another totality. And before you say they'd already be combined with the other dead Shikigami, while that's something that would likely happen, I doubt it since we never saw any Shikigami inherit anything from Orochi. The other thing that makes this feel repetitive is how underwhelming some of these are beyond the minor victories. I'm someone who was hyped for Kashimo vs Sukuna because while I knew he was gonna lose, I expected Kashimo to do more. It doesn't help that the manga keeps reinforcing Sukuna is holding back, hyping up the next combatant in some way before they get beat, and had a few moments that while make sense, feel stupid, such as when Deadly Sentencing target Sukuna's cursed object rather than him because while there was a precedent for it with the battle between Yuji and Higuruma, it still feels bad because this is something neither the cast nor Sukuna could've planned for because it never happened before to the characters.

    • @Six-bw3ir

      It was foreshadowed t happened to yuji his cursed energy was taken away instead of his CT, it was basically in our faces the whole time that higarumas domain would take anything with CE and it clearly priorities the most immediate threat and that would be sukuna cursed tool. If sukuna had it at anypoint in this fight the battle would have ended if it weren't for higaruma yuji would be dead Rika would be one shot by it anyone who doesn't have enough dura to withstand it gets one shot pretty much

      @@Six-bw3irI acknowledge the Yuji vs Higuruma moment, my point about it was it was extremely disappointing because no one could plan for Confiscation taking the tool. It felt like the story bent itself to an outcome that'd be favorable for Sukuna. On top of that, we barely got to see the tool do anything and considering Yuji and Yuta have RCT and Rika has a lot of CE thanks to Yuta, they could still most likely survive bolts from the item or potentially even dodge it.

    For example everyone vs frieza there is much more of a back and fortg like there was always some perceived win con picolo getting there picolo takeing of his weights vegetas zenkai gokus arrival the 20x kaioken the spirt bomb and finally super sayain
    All of these were moments that were built up to that felt like they could have led to friezas defeat and audience pretty much always new at least one of these was coming soon so they never felt like nothing wad happening
    So far there have benn 3 from what I remember gojo landing a domain gojo landing purple and that guy landing his instant kill sword
    This men's its benn a large number of chapters with out the audience knowing how the charecters think they will beat sukuna
    That fight also saved the strongest protagonist for the end makeing the audience wonder if he will be there in time this does the opposite witch leads to a hype beginning but has unfortunately left the fight not as can the hero get here in time to save the day and instead as if the hero already showed up and got his ass kicked then who the fuck can beat sukuna

    Gege is so desperate to shock readers that he lost the point of his manga, I truly believe up until gojos death/hanas death the manga worked (atleast somehow) it still had issues (nobara,...) but it worked but gege just lost it, he puts character in the story with the sole purpose to kill them and shock viewers, this worked with junpei but not after u saw it for the 10th time, im now more surprised that character doesnt die more than when they die. For example hana, she is in the story only for the purpose of unsealing gojo cuz gege didnt know how else to bring gojo back and kill him, and then hana just gets killed off in the dumbest way ever, then we have the whole sukuna fight which became so draining after yutas and makis fail. Im so tired of "b-but they weakend sukuna they weren't useless" how exactly did they weakened him? Except for taking away his cursed tool (which he used ONCE against a guy that the cursed tool had ZERO effect on) and taking away his domain expansion (and after that there were still like 3 people that 'weakened him' well is he is so fcking weakened yuji should just one shot his ass atp), i srs cant tell difference between wekaned sukuna and not weakened sukuna atp, maki literally stabbed bros heart and he still isnt dead and uraume tells us he still didnt go all out? Also where the hell is utahime? Inumaki? Todo? Like i understand meimei is too scared to die to go in but WHY ISNT UTAHIME THERE WHY IS THE CHARACTER SO FREAKING USELESS. Like lets be srs did anyone of js even expect kusakabe to do literally anything? And then Miguel pulls up, like i forgot this mf exist why the hell is he there (WHY IS HE THERE AND UTAHIME IS STILL HIDING???????). Why was even higuruma or kashimoto in the story? Like if you cut them out nothing changes (okay maybe higuruma did the rule and confiscated the cursed tool which could be avoided if the tool just wasn't there at all??? Like also wouldn't change anything since he didn't use it anyway) like kashimoto did absolutely nothing, if you cut him out you get the same story. And then we have hakari fighting uraume for like 7 months already and we saw them for like 15 panels, im just so tired of this manga atp

    as someone who got into jjk just recently and read through all that's out, which assuming the double ladder works includes the whole sukuna fight
    I do think it drags a bit, like I joked to myself about the chapter name basically being "fighting this one dude chapter 35"
    but at the same time I like all the characters and most of what happens, and like, it was only a little tiring for me, I think it's mostly fine but entirely understand why people would drop out from it and feel that's fair, it's kinda just how it's written

    3:43 I don’t think that’s its repetitive just more we want something different out of the 29 ish chapters
    Skauna has done nothing but domain , da , worldslash and cleave. Has yet to do anything outside of that
    The arguments u used with the manga is good but the problem is madara did what ? Showed versatility , meteors , sussano ,ems , rinnegan , wood style , fire style and hand to hand combat as well as sage mode
    The one peice example people actually where getting tired of luffy and kaido because it started becoming the same crap but even then
    U had how many different attacks? Luffy with Ryu , gear 4 snake man , gear 4 , gear 5 , all the variety attacks luffy has like gum gum pistol ect
    Now I half to admit ignorance I don’t watch dbz like that so I won’t comment on such
    But the things u listed what did they all have in common ? Variety
    The only type of variety we r getting from jjk is just the cast not even the main villan
    The problem with this a lot of the cast is around people u don’t give a shit about
    Hakari barely ever in the story and isn’t a big deal although it’s a opinion in terms of the story he doesn’t come off as someone important
    Kusakabe , higuruma : cool people for sure but let’s be honest who cares about them
    Kashimo only had 1 fight and barely any importance to the story
    Yuta being compared to GoJo multiple times as well as being a former Mc compared to the rest of the cast above he’s important to the story
    Maki : who is just a version of toji because he’s a fan favorite as well as she needed the power up. Tell me the difference between maki hakari and yuji ? There fighting style is basically the same just hands at the end of the day none the less she’s important cause she a big 3 Ig
    Now the other problems that r forming is gege is just basically wasting time , there’s kinda no point in giving detail about characters thst we don’t give af about , kusakabe for example getting some backstory on why he’s strong is nice but was it really needed ? Not really
    So combing the fact of the fight is just very stale and whenever the cast do something impressive it’s immediately dismissed as sakuna wasn’t even trying
    Which rubs people and viewers wrong as well as where waiting weeks and weeks which I think is also making it feel worse then it is
    But not only that gege is kinda doing a cycle that’s starting to coming off as being repetitive
    New character does nice for 1 chapter gets praises sakuna then kills them next chapter or beats them , then we rotate to the next character whxjh I think to say jjk is starting to be somewhat repetitive I think holds some weight 2 it

  • @TwilightNK

    I think people have become jaded from the Kashimo and Higuruma sections of the four sections you mentioned. The former was the foundation for the “repetitive” cycle that fans are complaining about, and the latter made fans feel like Sukuna has too much plot armor for any of these fights to mean anything.
    Kashimo’s fight was too short given how his entire character revolved around his fight with Sukuna and getting to show off his scientifically overpowered cursed technique.
    Higuruma’s sacrifice amounted to nothing because of a cursed tool that was never shown to be an actual threat to any character prior to its removal. Higuruma not knowing how cursed tools would play into his domain (despite Maki and Yuta having armories of cursed tools for Higuruma to experiment with) felt like forced stupidity to justify Sukuna not getting exorcised, in the same vein as Gege writing Yuji not telling Gojo about Sukuna’s barrier-less domain

Its getting repetitive because its whos gonna fight sukuna every week. gege has sukuna not even trying yes people are frustrated and will drop it because theres no sight to the end. If it was each fight slowling down sukuna and sukuna taking massive damage it would be hype. but hes not and thats the problem, not the new fighter approach, but because sukuna isnt taking massive damage and isnt slowing down

    You’re so shameless with your examples from other series.
    With One Piece, between chapters 1000 to 1049 we got: Jinbe vs WhosWho, Kidd and Law vs Big Mom, Zoro vs King, Yamato vs Kaido, Sanji vs Queen, Robin vs Black Maria, Killer vs Hawkins and various other fights. It wasn’t one thing for the MAJORITY of that time.
    Likewise, Dragon Ball mixed it up with the Freeza and Boo fights NARRATIVELY, Boo went through various transformations which advanced the plot and served as markers in the fights. Goku transformed vs Freeza making the fight completely different in the second half. There is no such thing with Sukuna. It’s the same shit every chapter for months on end.
    Madara was not the main enemy when he was introduced. It was Obito. Madara went like 5+ chapters without doing anything so when he did come back and it didn’t feel old.

    Kashimo didn’t really force sakuna into heian era , GoJo did u need to add proper context why was sakuna forced to do it ? Because of GoJo fight
    Even then that sakuna showed relative to kashimo in Amber former , at point blank range sakuna dodge a blast
    The only reason sakuna really transformed was cause his rct was low and he couldn’t fill heal so he basically just pooped a senzu bean
    So that statement u made however I get what your implying it’s not 100% correct
    7:30 the reason sakuna is questioning himself isn’t because of higuruma and yuji it’s because he’s feeling down because he just had a crazy fight with GoJo that pushed him to his limits and in killing someone who had talent like GoJo
    Sakuan started to question himself about satisfaction and this is exactly what GoJo felt in his fight so I think that sakuan was trying to find something to give him a challenge while he’s bored and waiting to die and that challenge is for him to break yuji Will who’s unbreakable

    Let me explain it as simply as I can try. The reason a lot of us are feeling it’s too repetitive is because these are all insanely quick fights where a new fighter pulls up to challenge sukuna, have a plan to give themselves the upper hand, it seemingly work only for sukuna to have a counter or get lucky, kill/incapacitate them and repeat. The reason we didn’t feel this way about madara is because none of his interactions were insanely quick. He fought the alliance, then the kage, followed by the tailed beast, previous hokage, obito, might guy and team 7. All of those battle felt extremely different from one to another. Madara continuously was showing us different feats putting on a new insane display every fight evolving at a rapid rate as well as having other sub plots on the side involving other characters

    I don’t think the issue people have is exactly that he’s beating everyone it’s more so that it doesn’t amount to anything, there’s not anything new, many anime’s have this cycle process where one person gets defeated the other shows up either loses or get a new form to win.
    But sukuna cycle doesn’t have anything new or anything like this, & he cemented many times that he is damaged by the gojo fight yet he’s still able to take a multitude of life threatening attacks even having his soul shake but still repeats that he’s damage. Then we’re expected to believe he’s also not taking it serious so any damage he’s taking is amounting to not much of anything. So then the cycle repeats & no one rlly is doing much. & sukuna rlly isn’t doing anything outstanding either. It could all be a big plot point later in the arc but rn it’s like ok.
    & when his foes show something new it doesn’t amount to nothing like how ichigo bankai got immediately destroyed. Yuta had his domain shi gone now. The most interesting fight was yuta & yuji vs sukuna people who we know should give him a longer & tougher fight which they did & it could’ve taken a different route why maki only pull up after yuta & yuji is down. Instead of doing a 3v1. The only fights sukuna had real character & development was against kashimo & gojo ofc tho ant nobody asking for that all that time but for a week-week release switch it up or bring my goat gojo back 💯

Similarly, Maki's fight was actually pointless. Outside of her sneak attack strike, she did nothing except say what every other character has said since jumping in, "oh, i gotta end this fight" then dies immediately after.

    When people say the fights are repetitive I don't think they mean they are exactly the same ,it's repetitive for me at least in the sense that they keep hyping up these new fighters then let sukuna defeat them so easily within a chapter or 2, if u keep doing this it diminish the previous hype they had because they get defeat so easily , at least I think it has grown stale in that aspect not in the choreographic aspect

  • @ThatOneGuy___
    @ThatOneGuy___ 6 месяцев назад +2

    I don't mind if the fight is long, what I do mind is how the fight is approached. Gojo vs Sukuna, incredible 10/10, I wouldn't of minded if it was longer assuming it'll be a constant back and forth. However, Sukuna vs everyone is what I like to say "constantly running into a brick wall". It's the same cycle over and over, new character enters the fight, Sukuna finishes them off, next character comes in, repeat. That's the repetitiveness everyone is talking about, the fact it's been the same formula for months just makes it tiring to read and you just want it to end already. It wasn't like Gojo vs Sukuna, where it was completely unpredictable, every chapter both of them try to out do the other, that level of enjoyment is gone. Then the infamous statement of Sukuna holding back this whole time, just made it worse, which only tells me this fight won't end anytime soon. Unless this cycle ends, more people will get tired of this.

    You showing other anime with longer lasting fights that didn't get the flask jjk has gotten now only further shows the lackluster writing and execution from Gege in this fight. The Gojo fight was good (though it was imo stupid of Gege to make Gojo say he was gonna lose even if Sukuna didn't have Mahoraga vuz that did not make sense). Still good fight. Then the "Sukuna Cycle" starts, and the things we get from the following fights really isn't all that interesting. Especially when the outcome becomes the same. Yuji and Yuta did great damage but you can argue that is undermined when it is said that Sukuna wasn't even going all out yet. The Higurama fight had potential to be interesting cause of his domain but I think the cursed object confiscation asspull turned ppl off on that fight. Maki is cool and all but even she just kind of gets slapped away. And now Miguel, "the man who fought Gojo on equal footing", comes. I like Miguel, but he did not fight Gojo on equal footing lmao. Some of the fights are not even that long and still manage to feel like a drag.
    The execution is not that good imo, I think the nonsensical asspulls might also affect opinions on the fights. Other mentioned anime either made it a lot more interesting or had actually interesting things come out of those fights. I've already grown uninterested in the new chapters, and I read the manga not too long ago when half of these Sukuna Cycle fights were already over, so I didn't even have to go through it on a weekly basis and I already became uninterested. It's really not rocket science or that deep to understand why people are complaining.
    And the more frustrating thing to me personally is how Gege decided to get rid of Kenjaku. Mans could've had him as a wrench in the whole story, could've made him turn on Sukuna and tru to kill both him and Gojo, could've maybe taken over Gojo/Sukuna, could've been the actual final villan, etc. Instead he got offed like some fodder.

The Palace invasion (hxh) has like 10-15 episodes (each 20min) devotet to a GRAND Total of 30 min in the Story. Meaning that the 200+ min spend in the show really just illustrate half a god damn hour in the show

    A character is hyped and glazed to the point being compared to Gojo -> the character barely last the quart of a chapter before getting whooped -> Sukuna is actually holding hella back since the beginning -> A new character comes at the end on a cliffhanger -> Everyone even the narrator are asking themselves if they have a chance ( while we all know they don’t ) -> repeat the cycle
    That’s literally how it felt to me and the worst thing is that I never had to wait like others did because I picked up only very recently with the manga. Sukuna literally feels like Madara but even worse and this is what worries me the most. I don’t expect him to win ( and you guys shouldn’t do either ), cause even if the characters are dropping like flies jjk is still a shounen ( you can create a story as convoluted and complicated as you want the result will still be the same villains just don’t win ). Gege literally played against himself by making Gojo glazing Sukuna that much before dying and Uraume saying that he was barely trying, and now he has to pay the consequences of it.

    The series needs to slow down and actually build stuff up again. No one cares if they bring in a new character, because they have zero purpose or backstory and will likely die very soon. Shibuya felt good (for most people) because there was build-up on both the protagonist and antagonist side. Sure they handled Nobura poorly (and Imo the protagonists during that arc were just super incompetent and brain-dead), but it still had great payoff like Yuji vs Mahito and Gojo being sealed.
    Also the series has been relying way too much on asspulls. Sukuna makes way too many asspull binding vows to get out of sticky situations. Especially how he defeated Gojo made no sense. Meanwhile we have Miwa never able to wield a sword again in exchange of a weak ass slash that did nothing. Binding Vows have never really been properly contextualized. It went from the logical 80% 120% Nanami vow to world slash for free.

  • @FictionPhilosopher

    Just instantly, the obvious fact that far too many younger people nowadays have the attention span of a fruit fly invalidates a significant portion of the "critiques", as they simply don't have the patience to wait out anything longer than a hummingbird's singular wing-beat. So yea, right off the bat, a lot of the complaints do come from a place of said readers simply not being equipped to even appreciate a longer-running event like the final grand battle of a series.
    On the side of the complaints having some legitimacy to them, JJK's power system is simply too simplistic and hand-to-hand/melee focused in a lot of cases that the kind of over-the-top spectacle or insane creativity that other series often wow the viewers with simply isn't there, and you can only see Sukuna punch the protagonists' guts out so many times before it gets repetitive and dull. Then we also have to consider that with Gege blowing up the biggest fireworks with Sukuna and Gojo's one-on-one right off the bat, the rest of the fight will inevitably feel like just us looking at the fizzling out sparks left over following the big payoff, and no amount of excessive animation on the anime side of things can truly make up for that. And that's not even touching on the fact that Sukuna apparently still having more aces up his non-existent sleeves makes it impossible for any scenario where he loses to be satisfying, as his potential defeat would always be the result of his own cockiness and holding back more than any effort on the heroes' part, and in what reality would that ever be satisfying... It's feeling more and more like we're headed for a tragic, pointless ending of the bad guys winning and nothing ultimately mattering.
    I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I'm reserving final judgement until JJK reaches its conclusion; maybe Gege will cook up the most insanely satisfying ending possible, but frankly, my hopes aren't supremely high. We will see what transpires.

    Sukuna would’ve been dead about a couple dozen chapters ago if everyone just jumped him like in the good old days instead of just taking turns being turned into his punching bags.

    Nanami’s blackflash record doesn’t hold a candle to Gege’s consecutive Sukuna glazing technique.

    As someone who doesn't get hyper invested in every walk-on in JJK, and primarily is invested in the main characters, there's no world where it isn't Yuji (potentially with the assistance of Yuta or Megumi) that ultimately defeats Sukuna. As a result of understanding that will show how many of the encounters is just the story spinning its wheels. To someone like me Kusakabe was never going to defeat him, so I'm basically reading through a couple of weeks of fillers because his defeat, as is Miguel's, is a foregone conclusion. You can use in universe logic to justify why there are filler fights (oh we need to burn through Sukuna's defenses! Oh he hit a black flash! ) but at the end of the day they are just filler fights.
    Like the tempo of the fight was at its best when Maki showed up, I believe that her, Yuta and Yuji could've closed off the battle there and I personally would've been satisfied...but either due to editor mandates or Gege's own want to show what every character is capable of, I'm faced with characters who's names I forget after they're off screen fighting Sukuna and I just don't understand why.
    All the characters who fought Frieza mattered to the story at that time...if Tien, Popo or someone else on the same narrative level as Kusakabe showed up before Goku went super Saiyan just to make the fight on Namek longer I would've hated that too.
