  • This video is about making nut and bolt model in solidworks. It consists of new thread feature of solidworks 2016. Tightening and loosening of nut on the bolt is shown as a motor animation.

    I'm using SolidWorks 2017, and when I try to create the thread it says "Unable to cut thread on cylindrical surface. Use Extrude Thread instead." Is the thread feature different between the 2016 and 2017 version?

      Got it. You might me selecting the cylindrical face for creating the thread. Select the circular edge from where you want to start the thread, as shown in the video.

    how do you mate the nut so it doesnt screw in past the head

      At about 7:55, an 'advanced mate' of distance is done, this specifies the maximum and minimum values of the nuts linear movement. Reply if I did not understand your question.

    on the hole wizard option I do not have thread
    how can I make it?

      Use SolidWorks 2016 or above. As you might not have SolidWorks 2016, you might not have the thread feature at all. You can still make similar assembly.

      (I have not made this type of video, this one is of an older version)
