Beretta's first striker fire semi auto, IMHO they crushed it. Mine never had any issues, it's a unique looking pistol made by a 500yr old company, what more can you ask for. 👍👍
Beretta will always be relevant imo. Their m9 variants aren't going anywhere anytime soon and the APX probably around to stay as well. The more time goes on the more I like the look of the APX. THe slide is unique.
One thing you cannot compare anything to is Beretta all of their stuff just works I noticed a little machining error here or there but never malfunctioning issues much better than their main competitor SIG
It's January 2021 and I just ordered my Centurion for $349 on Sportsman's Warehouse website, gonna pick it up in-store day after tomorrow... What with things being what they are right now, that's an incredible, fantastic deal. I've owned Berettas my whole life, shot the APX quite a bit, and can't wait to get it...
Been looking for this gun for some time and could never find it anywhere and finally found it and got it for Father’s Day and couldn’t be happier. Definitely my new favorite
To disengage the strier using the button you have to pull back the slide just a bit and press the button while the slide is back. It clicks easily. Cheers!
That looks like another winner from Beretta, I love my APX pistol. As always, a professional and great quality review brother! Have a great week my friend, and God bless.
I love love love the Compact for EDC. I usually carry a 15 round mag with extension and save the 13-rd for deep carry and formal/suit carry with a 17-rd in the truck and 21-rd at home.
The Centurion is great especially for the price. The serrations work great... unless your hands are wet/greasy. Then they are surprisingly way too slick.
I really like mine, but it shoot very low for me compared to all my other pistols. I changing the back sights to an adjustable set to help with this. Other than that, it hasn't had one malfunction or issue. Great gun.
Just got my Centurion and love it...! I have big mitts which is why I have the 92FS and PX4 Storm full size. The compact was too small; my little finger didn’t fit. But the Centurion was spot on. Great gun great fit...😎
I love my APX. Everything bout it. I'm 62, haven't needed or wanted to purchase a sidearm in 30 years. My HK USP 40, my 92F, my Colt government model have been there for me. But I wanted a striker fired concealable weapon. Beretta has been making firearms for 496 years. According to wiki.
Great video. I was looking to purchase the compact version, however they are in short supply as of this writing. My husband found a good price for the Centurion version. We both watch your videos routinely. Thanks again for the information.😁👌
I have this same model APX along with a more expensive Beretta 92X Centurion. They're different pistols (Striker fired vs DA/SA), and both are great, but I have to say that the APX is more fun.
The slide serrations make it a ton easier to disengage the trigger by pulling back the slide slightly with your offhand and using your other hand to push in the button. You just need to pull back slightly and push pretty hard and it should work. You don't really need to disengage this way since it is centerfire but it's there if you prefer it.
For the money, there's no better pistol on the market. APX Centurion is selling for $379 at lots of online retailers. Quality at the Beretta standard and modularity to boot. Just an unbelievable bargain.
Bought a new one after just 300 ish rounds of ammo my glock g5 is running bare steel inside. The finish and beefy internals make this pistol in competition with more expensive guns.
Great video! I have the compact, and I found that I didn't need to pull the trigger to release the slide. I just pressed the takedown button, dropped the slide catch down, and the slide came right off easily.
I went to my local B&M today. I was all about the modularity of the 320. But once I got it in my hands I wasn't a fan. I'm looking forward to checking out this gun in person. All these gun reviews on the internet are very helpful but we all must remember guns just like anything is entirely subjective. One man's favorite gun is another's garbage. I'm basically saying don't buy a gun just by watching reviews and specs. You might get the gun in your local gun shop to pick it up and be very disappointed in what you spent your money on.
Just moved from NYC to PA, and looking to purchase my first pair of firearms for my wife and I. Would love if you would compare the APX Centurion vs the CZ P-10 C, and the APX compact vs CZ P-10s. Thanks in advance.
The APX Centurion is a great size. However, pulling the slide back is very tough compared to many of the other striker pistols, such as Glock, SIG P320, HK VP9, and CZ P10C. It does not help to have a touch of arthritis. When I unboxed mine and tried to rack the slide back, I thought something was wrong, like something was jammed in the frame. I found out it was just really hard to rack the slide back.
The APX line is great, they even have RDO ready models and threaded barrels. As I carry a DA/SA, its one of a select few striker fired guns that catch my attention. I’ll be getting one for my collection for sure.
The reason you can't use the striker deactivation button is because the design prevents the button from being pressed unless the slide is retracted a small amount to the rear (maybe 1/8" to 1/4"). A common mistake demonstrated in your video when disassembling the APX is to rotate the lever before deactivating the striker by either using the button or pulling the trigger. A quick glance at the manual demonstrates that the correct procedure is first to deactivate the striker/pull the trigger and then press and rotate the takedown lever. This allows for the striker-deactivation button to be designed in such a way that prevents any serious accidental deactivation, and also helps to release pressure on the takedown lever so that it is not as hard to press.
No need to move the slide at all to the rear. Squeeze and hold the trigger. Use a punch to push in the striker deactivation button. Keep holding the trigger. Push the take down lever as far to the left as it will go from the right side using a large punch. Release the trigger. It won’t go anywhere. Move the takedown lever down toward the 6 o’clock position and the slide will move forward. Remove the slide.
I love your channel and reviews, Sootch! Outtakes are hugely funny. Your lead in music, though is fantastic. Your band is really killing AC/DC! I’d like to get a CD if this is an example of their quality!
I’m looking to purchase my first firearm for myself and my wife and we have both researched the APX Centurion and Compact extensively. These videos have only furthered our decision to buy these firearms. Love your review and how in depth you go.
I saw this morning that Classic Firearms has the APX line of pistols for $350 + shipping. The only real knock I could give this pistol is that, according to the MAC elemental/gauntlet testing is that those slide serrations make it hard to grip when the pistol gets wet. Other than that, it appears to be a viable conceal carry handgun.
Hi, new to your channel. A good friend, and instructor, loves Beretta and decided to buy the APX. I went to the range with him so to check it out, and, wow. With in the first 5 rounds, it blew the extractor right out of the gun using factory Win white box. Lucky for him. we have a factory repair 40 minutes away, so we drove it to them. 4 days later it was done, and to the range, 3 rounds again blew the extractor, drove right back, with the ammo and again, again blew. 3 times this happens, and the factory repair then tells Ray that the first run was having issues. This was not costing anything but time, but, he will not carry it as EDC. Any thoughts on this?
I love this gun it’s beautiful and on point& exact, feels good works great and looks perfect 👌🏽!!! Machinery is correct and the price is well worth it could charge more, (the sweet spot!)
Great video, own to apx guns,a full size fde and a centurian. To use the striker decocker, pull the slide back a little bit then push the button. Its in the owners manual.
I wish that Beretta would release additional slide option. A slide with more traditional serrations and even the option to attach an RMR would be great option and something that would distinguish the Beretta APX from even the P320. I personally do not place much trust in aftermarket parts and if I could gain a similar advantage of customization from OEM, would be a huge advantage in my opinion.
Makes you wonder why this didn't replace the 92F/M9 as the US military sidearm. With the modular design, some units could go with the full size frame/capacity.
I really like tge Px4 storm compact carry in 9mm but I'm thinking this would be better since it's a newer model. What are you thoughts on comparing the two?
I must be he only gun owner that doesn't own Glocks. So any of these comparisons that reviewers always do with Glocks gets lost on me. Loving the Beretta though. It will probably be my next purchase!!! Love your channel btw.
I like everything about the Beretta APX, especially this size, the Centurion. I even like the way they look. That slide would be so easy to grab hold of. The gun range i belong to will have these in the rental car soon, and I'm going to shoot this one and the compact as well. Great review, as always.
Hi Sootch00, I just got finished pawing through all your APX videos and noticed something that is true in all the firing segments, the APX looks to have a very weak ejection. The pattern seems very consistent but the throw of the spent shell seems extremely minimal. It doesn't appear that the pistol has any failures to extract or anything from all the youtube videos I have watched on this particular pistol but every one of them it seems like the spent rounds just kind of drop out of the weapon. Is that truly the case or is the angle of the camera kind of creating an illusion? The G2C taurus chucks them like a hail mary pass compared to how the APX appears to just sort of lazily plop them out. Was curious is all I checked the Full size out at my local shop on monday and it felt amazing in the hand, the trigger seemed a little mushy to me compared to some of the other offerings on the market, but then again not everyone can be a PPQ or Canik. I attribute some of the trigger feel to the modularity of the pistol but I could be wrong. Either way I am waiting for them to get the Centurion in so I can check it out. With all the issues Sig is having with the 320, I would much rather go with the APX at this point Beretta has always had their stuff together when they build something and that may be why it takes them longer to bring something to market they do extensive testing and redesign before entering a piece into the market it saves them the embarassment of a dysfunctional product. Great review and Thank you for the multitude of coverage on this particular line you have definitely put a great deal of in-depth and valueable content out there for this pistol.
Holding the pistol in your shooting hand and trying to pull the slide back with the thumb and forefinger of the other hand is impossible. Two of my friends could not do it also. We had to reach across the top with palm facing down on top of the slide and pushing the slide back was the only way I could rack the slide back. But it was still very difficult.
sootch00...... I just watched this video and want to thank you for making it. Regarding "that sweet spot", I have to tell you that the Beretta is, to me "Extremely Sweet". So much so that after looking at videos of the M&P Shield 40 and the Springfield XD over the last few days that I am for sure going with the Beretta Centurion in 40 S&W. On top of that I am going to buy a box of that "sweet" Italian Fiocchi 40 S&W ammo. It is definitely way to go for a modular handgun. This ammo and gun is just what this Italian-AMERICAN needs.
Roadrider19119 I had been shopping for the perfect concealed carry gun. I absolutely cannot stand to have my entire pinky hanging off the grip, so this was in my sights. However, after reading your comment I pulled the trigger, LOL. Best of both worlds right here! Now to find the right IWB holster. Thanks bud!
Just bought one of these in 9 on sale for $400. Picking it up Saturday for my birthday. Big question, can you switch between 9 and 40 on these or is it just the grip frame? Also, do they have pinky plates for the compact mags/frame?
The side-by-side comparison with the G19 was revealing. Look at the amount of workmanship Beretta provides versus the plain slide Glock. The Beretta APX Line feels awesome in the hand. It’s like a therapeutic massage. I purchased the Full Size Combat and the Centurion. Didn’t purchase the compact as my pinky rested below the magazine. I will be ordering the Full Size FDE (frame & slide) this fall. The only complaint I have is the Combat doesn’t have suppressor height sights with the threaded barrel.
I don't understand why anyone would not like the slide. I think this is a great looking gun. I love it.
Beretta's first striker fire semi auto, IMHO they crushed it. Mine never had any issues, it's a unique looking pistol made by a 500yr old company, what more can you ask for. 👍👍
Instructing since 1972 and Beretta have always been one of my favorites, the APX only reinforces that thought.
Beretta will always be relevant imo. Their m9 variants aren't going anywhere anytime soon and the APX probably around to stay as well. The more time goes on the more I like the look of the APX. THe slide is unique.
I got mine Beretta apx full size last year I already put around 2000 rounds no problems. I love it
One thing you cannot compare anything to is Beretta all of their stuff just works I noticed a little machining error here or there but never malfunctioning issues much better than their main competitor SIG
Ray Peterson The Sig of old was one of the best in the business. Sig nowadays is probably no better than Taurus.
Just got one today $389 pre tax. I prefer this to the gen 5. Will be potentially replacing my g5 17 with the full frame APX in the near future.
Been looking for this gun for some time and could never find it anywhere and finally found it and got it for Father’s Day and couldn’t be happier. Definitely my new favorite
To disengage the strier using the button you have to pull back the slide just a bit and press the button while the slide is back. It clicks easily. Cheers!
Quality gun and a great price. Got about 500 rounds through it and I'm very happy with my purchase.
I like my full-size tactical Toblerone.
The Centurion is great especially for the price. The serrations work great... unless your hands are wet/greasy. Then they are surprisingly way too slick.
I like the style of the APX. The slide looks like a Toberone bar, but I want one.
I like it. In my opinion, enhanced function over aesthetics is the hallmark of an ideal tool.
I like it. The slide serrations look very cool.
Doesn’t need any aftermarket upgrades. Perfect
I just got night sights from Beretta's website. Thats all I did to mine
Bought my first pistol ever today. This was the one! It just felt right & learning how it works is cool too
I love my APX.

This is the best video I've found on this model. Thank you for uploading.
sootch00's gun reviews set the standard by which all other RUclips gun reviews are compared.
For the money, there's no better pistol on the market. APX Centurion is selling for $379 at lots of online retailers. Quality at the Beretta standard and modularity to boot. Just an unbelievable bargain.
Just bought one feels great in the hand a fine piece of work.
I don't see how people could hate on this handgun, just got one and it's amazing
Bought a new one after just 300 ish rounds of ammo my glock g5 is running bare steel inside. The finish and beefy internals make this pistol in competition with more expensive guns.
best review i have seen for this gun. i love your music sounds like acdc.
Glad to See You Posted!!! Hope All is good n Not Effected By Florence!!!
I Luv the Slide design of that Beretta! 💪
Great video! I have the compact, and I found that I didn't need to pull the trigger to release the slide. I just pressed the takedown button, dropped the slide catch down, and the slide came right off easily.
Best stock trigger in the polymer market. Cz p10c is the only one that rivals it. Very crisp break and reset with almost no travel. Worth every penny.

I’ve been looking at it,might be my next
I love my berettas they are flawless
I've been looking at this one for a while now. Very tempted lol
Just moved from NYC to PA, and looking to purchase my first pair of firearms for my wife and I. Would love if you would compare the APX Centurion vs the CZ P-10 C, and the APX compact vs CZ P-10s. Thanks in advance.

Good gun. I like it. Shoots good and I have big hands. I think this gun beat the Sig.

2 things I wanna see Beretta's take on someday 1: a modern revolver. 2: a bullpup rifle
The CX4 Storm is close to a bullpup with the magazine in the pistol grip.
I own the full size APX , I love it
@sootch00 I just purchased a Beretta APX Centurion, and I love it! it's go-to-war reliable
I saw this morning that Classic Firearms has the APX line of pistols for $350 + shipping. sootch00... Thank you for your video on how to swap out the grip frames. That really helped me on decision to buy the Beretta Centurion.
The APX style reminds me of an Italian submarine of World War I--the Medusa class, if memory serves. The appearance is growing on me.
liking mine as well
@Briggs Jayson nobody gives a shit
People don’t like beretta , they love beretta
Hi, new to your channel. A good friend, and instructor, loves Beretta and decided to buy the APX. I went to the range with him so to check it out, and, wow. Options ,its all about Options ! These are great options keeps all manufacturers on there toes .
Exactly. Free market is a beautiful thing! Thanks Brother
Mine will be at the gun shop Friday. Can't wait
With the recent huge price drop (not sure if it's only temporary), I may finally pick one up.
i ordered a centurion 359.00
Price is lowered because the new model will come with slide cut for rmi
I wish that Beretta would release additional slide option. A slide with more traditional serrations and even the option to attach an RMR would be great option and something that would distinguish the Beretta APX from even the P320.

I like sportsman’s guide , it’s where I get my bulk ammunition
Another fantastic sootch00 review.
Nice pistol. Beretta stepping up their game. Just like them Tigers!!😁
Heck, Yeah! Go Tigers!
Bought my first one recently. Looking forward to firing it!
I really like tge Px4 storm compact carry in 9mm but I'm thinking this would be better since it's a newer model.
What are you thoughts on comparing the two?
Just ordered one. I have the apx carry. Excited to soon buy apx full size.
Very nice explanation. Beretta has done an excellent job
I must be he only gun owner that doesn't own Glocks. So any of these comparisons that reviewers always do with Glocks gets lost on me. Loving the Beretta though. It will probably be my next purchase!!! Love your channel btw.

Honestly, I’ve never seen one on a popo. Price point is good! Need one to put the RDO on.

Good review but tell me - do you not use a magazine UpLula instead of your thumbs, to save wear and tear on your poor digit>?
He did use an Uplula..... it just took him getting a sore thumb to break it out, LOL
Steel guide rod? I'm getting one now.
sootch00......
I bought the Compact, then I bought the magazine sleeve and the Centurion 15rd magazine. I have the both of two worlds.
Roadrider19119 how do you like it? I’m doing the same! Smart!
@@kateajwood4129 I like it a lot. It's one of my main carry guns. Being able to switch magazines size, I can carry with everything I wear.
Thanks bud!
Awesome Beretta Sootch00. Well Done review Sir and long live the republic.
Peacemaker. Close to the bore. Older guns kind of knew all about this
Just bought one of these in 9 on sale for $400. Picking it up Saturday for my birthday. Big question, can you switch between 9 and 40 on these or is it just the grip frame? Also, do they have pinky plates for the compact mags/frame?
Which do you recommend for home defense? Compact or Centurion?
the more i see it, the more it appears a modern, futuristic look.
More I watch videos about apx, more I like
Always love your videos, Sootch. You and Hickok45, Nutnfancy and MAC are all awesome!
Very nice! Thank you from Italy!
Thanks Giovanni!
Molto grazie fratello Italiano.
My grandma is an Italian from Italy. 👋
These are really great pistols! Another awesome review Sootch!
Hi sootch00, I'm from the Philippines how can I purchase online the Beretta APX Centurion?
Maybe it's just me but it looks like a crack on the frame on the cerial number plate on the slide stop side ! Is it?
Your right! The crack was soooooo bad , sootch had to throw that bad gun away. Thanks for the heads up genius.......
I like the flat trigger shoe...
Cual de las dos es mejor, Beretta apx centurion o Glock 19 gen 5?
First striker?!? My Beretta Nano was bought in 2012...isn't it a striker?! 🤔
I'll be purchasing one soon. Cool video!
Good review, it only confirmed my purchase. I should receive the APX in a few days.
What exactly is the purpose of the pop up on the top of the slide?
I ordered the 10+1 model. I'm assuming I can use a 15+1 with it? Any help is greatly appreciated!
Beretta is a fine weapon, Thanks for the review
God Bless
Thanks Fred! Hope you're doing well my friend.
God Bless
