You guys, I am a total sucker for castles. I know, I know.. ancient ruins are all over Europe; but coming from America, we don't have anything like these here! :) Just call me the castle hunter. But seriously, I loveee me some castles.
Today I wanted to share a super quick overview of five beautiful castles in Germany - for the most part, they're located in Bavaria (southern Germany), but I'd also LOVE to hear from you.. what other Germany castles should I add to my "House Hunters: International Edition" travel bucket list?
PS - I visited each of these using public transportation (train/bus), but it would be a lot easier and more efficient with a car. Rent a car if you can!

Hi Shannon, you did a great castle tour. Some of the castles are on my bucket list too. If you want to see more beautiful castles I can recommend you to visit Burg Eltz in Rhineland Palatinate, Schloss Drachenburg in the Siebengebirge ('The Seven Mountains") and the castle route along the Rhine River. It start from Lahnstein which is near Koblenz on the B42 down to Rüdesheim am Rhein. At Kaub you will see a tiny castle in the Rhine. Burg Pfalzgrafenstein is only reachable by boot (3€).

Visit the Eltz castle which has been owned by the same family for 33 generations and which has never been destroyed.

For castles you should visit the Rhine area between Mainz and Koblenz one day. There is every other mile a castle upon the hills beside the river. Than go to the Mosel river where it is almost identical including Burg Eltz which is a real fairy tale castle (look it up here on RUclips).

Wow ... how could you forget Schloss Linderhof right between Füssen and Ettal. It has a park-like garden which you need to visit in spring time or summer.
