We Germans normally are very self-critical with our country. It's good to remind ourselves that we are surrounded by so many beautiful places. Maybe that would give us some peace. By the way, I like how you make an effort to pronounce the names correctly, you've picked quite a few tricky ones (Berchtesgaden, Speicherstadt!) Good job. Some of my favourite spots are Görlitz, Oybin, the Spreewald and Bamberg.

@@RyanShirley this is a very good recommendation. The train (or ship) along the Rhine River between Mainz/Wiesbaden (two beautiful cities) towards Koblenz/Bonn/Cologne is a dream: Beautiful Vineyards ("Rheingau" growing area), more than 40 castles along the riverside (UNESCO World Heritage "Mittelrheintal"), the Loreley Rock, Deutsches Eck (Koblenz), Germany's Former capital city Bonn (Beethoven's birth place) and Germany's gay capital city Cologne with it's Dome, the biggest church in the north of the Alps. @@crymearvr7676Koblenz is a great spot for castle spotting. There are castles dotted all over the sides of the rivers Rhein, Mosel and Lahn. Many spots to visit within an hour or less of traveling:
Burg Eltz, Maria Laach monastery, Bacharach, Bad Ems, Cochem, Rüdesheim, Eberbach monastery, ...
You can basically drive in any direction or take a train and get to a pretty river town. Do go on a river cruise, it's expensive but great in good weather (pack sun glasses, sun screen and a jacket). You'll be living in a wine region, so do go on a tour of a winyard/winery (some wineries have yummy white grape juice if you don't drink alcohol - drinking wine and beer is legal at age 16 in my Germany). Enjoy meals in restaurants in old wine cellars with barrel/vault ceiling.
A little further away you have Limburg, Marburg, Heidelberg (have a tour of the castle and go to the apothecary museum), Mainz (go to the Gutenberg museum - invention of mass printing).
France (beautiful Alsace), Luxembourg, and Belgium aren't too far away, either.

As a Saxon, I would add Leipzig and the Elbsandsteingebirge (Elbe Sandstone Mountains).
The latter one has got a beautiful scenery and it's a famous place for hiking and climbing. The Saxon part of the Erzgebirge, which is practically next door of the Elbsandsteingebirge, also has a lot of cultural features to offer - especially when it comes to wooden crafts.
Leipzig is a city in the north-west part of Saxony and offers a lot of culture and history as well. There are the Monument of the Battle of the Nations (Völkerschlachtdenkmal), the famous restaurant Auerbachs Keller, the Panometer, the Opera and Gewandhaus at the Augustusplatz, the Leipzig Bonatical Garden and many more sights.
Outside of Saxony, but also in East Germany, I can recommend the Hanse Sails in Rostock. It's a huge event that's held every August and it attracts countless people every year.

So excited that I've been to 2 of the places on this list: Munich and Frankfurt.
To me, Munich is the most beautiful city I've ever visited. I love the Baroque and Gothic cathedrals and overall architecture. In the main parts of the city, every building has such intricate detailing on the pillars, windows, etc.
What I like about Frankfurt is that it's a cool mix of old and new, with a very prominent modern cluster of skyscrapers, framed by a generous smattering of Baroque and Gothic buildings, including the Cathedral of Saint Bartholomew, a Gothic wonder.

Being a German, I always think it's such a pity American tourists focus so much on the two southernmost states. You missed ALL of the eastern states. Dresden and Leipzig are justly famous. There are wonderful mountain ranges apart from the alps. You missed Nuremberg (OK, that's in Bavaria too, I admit), Thuringia with small towns like Seiffen where they make all the Erzgebirge wood figurines, and personally I also love Mecklenburg-Vorpommern with its timeless rural old-world atmosphere. Greifswald may be small but it has such a wonderful surroundings. Visit the Hanse towns along the coasts of the East and North Sea and the Halligs in the North Sea. Forget Munich with its pretentiosity. Everybody goes there.

    • @Chouyren

Yeah even though I'm from southern Germany myself, the Black Forest and the Alps being my favourite regions within Germany, I also really like some cities and places in Northern Germany like Lübeck, Lüneburg, Stade, the Wattenmeer (Wadden Sea), Sylt (not including Westerland but everything else on that island) as well as quite a few places in Eastern Germany like the Elbsandsteingebirge, Leipzig, Weimar, Erfurt, Quedlinburg, Wittenberg, Potsdam, Rügen and of course Dresden even tho I always think of Dresden having a fake old town because it was all rebuilt with lots of tax money but hey at least it looks nice^^ Oh and of course Western Germany has some cool Places too like the Cologne Cathedral, the Zeche Zollverein in Essen, the cities of Düsseldorf and Bonn, the Eiffel, Sauerland and Westerwald and last but definitely not least the Rhine between Bingen and Koblenz.

    1. Rothenberg, make sure you do the night watchman tour and all the museums, (especially the torture museum) this is a must..
2.Munich, make sure you visit Dachau. (pay your respects and learn )
3.Berchtesgaden, don't forget The Eagles Nest. More people visit this place annually than Graceland's. And due to weather it has a smaller window of opportunity to visit it.
    4. Berlin, you can do a free (it is done by donation) tour of Berlin with a guides that meets at the Brandenburg gates around 9.00 a.m. well worth it.
    5. Hamburg, make sure you visit the Reeperbahn, St. Nicholas, St. Michaels, the museum and the worlds biggest model railway, if you really want to experience Hamburg, make sure you attend a St Pauli football match.
    6. Fussen, just splendid. Make sure you pre book admission to Neuschwanstein Castle to skip the line, well worth it.

I laughed at the 'It's just 3 hours away'. Most Germans haven't seen much of their country because everything is so 'far' away. We rarely visited my relatives because they live 'far away'. I was surprised when I realised as an adult that they are only 100 km away.

What a great eye bird tour and brief introduction of those awesome places from you. I love it! I fell in love onto Germany after my first visit in 2015 but only for 2 weeks and I stepped on Munich as my first city in Bavaria and it became one of my favorite cities after Berlin and Nürnberg. I revisited this wonderful and beautiful country the following year and had one month tour and finally moved to Germany then in 2017 (struggling with the language for a year 😊) and I have visited almost all those places you included in your clip but I revisited several times to those great places for more close up capturing and enjoying the views in different seasons. I made some videos for keeping sweet memories with my family, too. Anyway, Germany has many beautiful places to visit. I do visit hidden gems nearby my residence in Bayern and Baden-Württemberg in weekends before pandemic strict measures were implemented. Btw, thank you for sharing. I hope to see more from your drone shots. Stay safe 🤞

Also a hidden gem but less known is Dinkelsbühl which isn't far away from Rothenburg (btw a rivaling city in medieval times). And Dinkelsbühl was also declared as Germany's most beautiful historic city by the German magazine FOCUS.

A German City I can recommend as well is Lübeck in the north of Germany. Just an hour away from Hamburg, it´s one one the most beautiful Cities in the whole Country! Well known for it´s 7 Church Tower and the "Holstentor" also to be found on the 2 Euro Coin. It´s located at the Baltic Sea and is aspeacially in Summer a place, definitely worth at least a Day Trip from Hamburg. It also should be mentioned, that it´s medieval Center is Located an an Island in the River Trave. :-)
