I am a Hamburger, and that has meant for me that not only do Americans know nothing about my hometown, but the first response I always get is: do you like the Octoberfest? Or, the little towns in the mountains are so beautiful, what was your village like where you come from. People please learn something about Germany, there is more than Bavaria in my country. Bavaria was a country for 600 years and is only ad-on state to Germany in recent history. Hamburg is an independent state in the north if Germany and lies on the same latitude as London, England, with even the same weather patterns as London.
My wife and I lived in Neidenbach, which is @ 10 miles north of Bitburg, GE. Our village had just over 900 people. It was so refreshing...our landlords were awesome. It's in an area called The Eifel. Luxembourg was @ 20 miles away. It's a farming area with cattle & horses interspersed with large stands of green forests. We had 5 great years there. Wunderbar!
It sounds like you had an incredible experience living in Neidenbach! The Eifel region is indeed beautiful, with its mix of farmland and lush forests. Having friendly landlords and such a peaceful environment must have made those five years truly special.
Germany offers many charming villages ideal for exploration. Consider visiting Rothenburg ob der Tauber, known for its medieval charm; Bacharach, with picturesque half-timbered houses; or Quedlinburg, featuring Romanesque architecture. Each has unique history and beauty that captures the essence of German life. Enjoy your journey!
Germany has to be one of the most fascinating countries out there! I know not everyone might agree, but the culture, history, and vibe of Germany are just on another level for me. By the way, love your channel-it's packed with great content!
This video was made for American tourists. As a frequent visitor I would appreciate if you kept some of your jewels hidden. I would like to keep some places nice and quiet. Let the Americans go to Italy, France and Spain. Americans can be awfully loud.
I had german radio grundig in my childhood..still have not working now..from thise days i love germany and wanted to visit germany and stay there..hope my dream come true
Thank you for sharing such a lovely memory! It’s amazing how certain things from our childhood can shape our dreams. I hope your dream of visiting and living in Germany comes true soon!
I was stationed in Germany in the early 70s and enjoyed my time there. I soon discovered if you showed respect to the German people and their country they were very warm and friendly people.
Thank you for sharing your experience! It's wonderful to hear how mutual respect can create such positive connections. I'm glad you had a great time in Germany!
To avoid any misunderstandings, there is not just one Autobahn, there is a nationwide network of motorways that fall under the Autobahn specification. Currently, aprox. 60% of these Autobahn´s have no speed limit. In the vicinity of large cities with a lot of traffic, the speed is often limited. Sometimes fixed, often dynamic, with electronic traffic signs that adjust the speed to the current traffic.
Thank you for the clarification! You're absolutely right, and it's good to point out how the system works across the entire network. The dynamic speed limits near cities are a great solution to manage traffic efficiently.
Germany indeed has so much to offer and yet many just pass by on the Autobahn. However, ponder for a moment on how much was lost in piles of rubble after WWII... I have been to most of these places and it is a good selection, though I my self am not too keen on the major cities. It is of course impossible to cover everything in a video like this but I do want to mention Bamberg, Nördlingen, Marburg and Einbeck. Also, if you want to get off the beaten path, Thüringer Wald is a good alternative to the Black Forest.

I wouldn't recommend Cologne and Frankfurt a. Main, unless for museums or you like modern architecture 🏙️? Heidelberg is a tourist city, that doesn't really hold up for more then a few hours - there are other old towns near, that deserve a visit - like Wissembourg on the french border. Though there's almost an old interesting city in every region that's not as flooded with tourists. 🤗 Just stay clear of Neuschwanenstein and Heidelberg 😂
@theresabu3000 Now you have ruined Wissembourg too. It will also be flooded with American tourists. What were you thinking? Fortunately Wissemboug is French. Maybe the Americans will continue into France.
