- After seeing a few of these on social media I thought I'd give it a try.
Join me in this video as I turn a helix from some round brass stock.
With all going on in and around the channel a small little project like this is perfect for a quick video.

That is cool, and new to me!
Moving is a huge task. We’ll be here when you’re ready. 👍👍😎👍👍. Best of luck to you.
Thanks Joel I’ll try to keep you guys up to date on the progress.
Not sure if ive ever seen this done before but it turns out looking really nice :)
Thanks dude but of post machining deburring and it will look great. If I was to do again would definitely do it with even more offset.
Nice project! Enjoyed the video. Good luck with your move, give yourself all the room you can in the new shop.
Thanks Gerald. I’m looking forward to it should end up with a slightly bigger more open workshop.
Enjoyed, thanks Joe!
Thanks Howder always good to hear from you.
Nice video Joe. Looks great
Thanks Steve bit of off camera deburring and I’ll have a nice desk ornament
Good luck with the move mate. When you’re building the new workshop, give yourself plenty of ceiling hight. I wish I’d gone another 6 inches at least with mine. All the best mate👍
Great advice! Mine is a concrete sectional garage and head height is 6’ at one end and 6’4” at the other. It influenced my decision on buying a mill. More head height I could have got a better mill in there.
Thanks Ricky yeah I’m planning on making it as big as I can with the area I have. Fingers crossed should be bigger then what we have now.
Yeah I’m hoping to have a large open workshop with plenty of head space. Well that’s the plan next month or so will decide for sure.
@@MachiningwithJoe if you’ve got the head room you can put hooks up. A great place for storing long stock etc. will you still be on the island?
Not a good idea to operate rotating machinery with strong gloves like those. Use some some light latex gloves if you need to protect your skin.
You are completely correct my bad Horus
