This whole situation is rather suspect, the police searched a long time for that boy. My question is why was this so important and why is there so much interest in him. So many go missing and there is not so much flurry. I think the police were also looking for something else. Why did it take so long to reveal information that seemingly hits parents knew about exactly what happened. As we don't know what happened, it's senseless to speculate. However, I do believe drugs were involved, as watching all the media online he seemed to be disoriented upon his departure. One thing for sure they have brought a lot of trouble to that small place up there, and I'm sure the locals are not happy. The thing about this is, if you have all these armchair detectives roaming around the hillside, they might also be in danger. In between the time he was reported missing he could not have gone too far, however, if he did fall off a cliff (God forbid) into a ravine it will be difficult to find him. There are to many stories online to really get any clear picture I think.

That's why all the mobile phone companies want your old phone as a trade in even not working. Simply because the data captured on the phones is worth 10 x the phone price to them.
Big question: why did local police almost immediately say the two men were “irrelevant” to the investigation and let them out of the country? Why do two middle aged men book a remote AirBnB? Did the police already know these guys? Did these guys work for the police? Were the police controlling the drug supply to partying youngsters? Were these guys part of the drug supply chain? Was Slater and his buddies also part of that chain, selling at the festival? Lots of questions.
Exactly. I'd say your questions are extremely relevant. I lived in Spain for 11 yrs and Tenerife for 15 months and, it is no secret that there are blind eye/financially beneficial agreements between the big boys in uniform and the big boys who deal.

The Spanish Police, as you so naively call them, have everything right according to their own investigation, and misinformation they were given.
For your information and eduction the two major agencies in Spain who investigate crime are initially the Guardia Civil, an excellent investigative body and the Policia Nacional, who have resources nationwide. These guys are not Policeman Plod from the UK who blindly tiptoe around preparing a case that will satisfy the CPS, they work directly under instruction and guidance from the Appointed Judge, who will eventually make the final judgment on the outcome.
So kindly stop this Brit attitude that nothing comes up to the super standard of the British Police, only comment on things of which you have some knowledge.

I think we can all make an educated guess as to why these older men were there and their "associates of Lucy" connection. The supply chain and retailing opportunities provided by 3 day gigs attended by young people. However the reality is Jay most likely took a look at the winding road when he left the airbnb and took an off road short cut across the terrain to the road at the other side thinking it would save him time and has slipped and fallen. Sadly his body will turn up somewhere on his unmarked route at some point in time.

They let them go and called off the search after 2wks. Even locals said they were shocked and disappointed by their handling of the case.
While the kid might have not been some innocent little lamb, it sounds more and more like a crime was committed. So obviously, the case deserves investigation. To suggest that the search cost too much is ridiculous. If he was harmed, either because he stole from the wrong person (allegedly a watch) or because something went awry at this very weird after party with a convicted drug dealer, his family deserves answers. Crime investigations aren’t simply abandoned, just because someone isn’t a perfect victim. And of course, it’s more than fair to call out the police if they deemed the Airbnb hosts „irrelevant to the investigation“, when at least one is a convicted felon and their story makes zero sense. (Why did they take someone they didn’t know 40min to their house for less than 3h of rest instead of just dropping him off at his place?)

Firstly I would say that my heart goes out to his parents. Their loss is every bit as deep and painful as any other parents' would be. Whether your child is a high achiever at Eton, or a trainee bricklayer with criminal convictions your love for them is as deep and unconditional. Sadly it looks like Jay will never be found, though his body may be recovered in time. Given the known facts it seems unlikely that he got lost in the wilderness. You live by the sword: You die by the sword, or as my long departed grandparents would say, 'the wages of sin is death'.

The two men in the airbnb were due to leave on the Monday but left on the Tuesday. They could have murdered him and dumped him anywhere so the police shouldn't have let them go. I lived in Spain for 11 years and know for a fact that very often police work hand in hand with the top drug dealers. It's an 'arrangement' as such. You scratch my back...everyone makes mucho dinero.
