  • Five months ago, 22-year-old Jack O’Sullivan went missing after walking home from a night out with friends. It’s every parent’s worst nightmare - but Jack’s family say their ordeal has been made much worse by the way they’ve been treated by Avon and Somerset Police, after losing all faith in officers' attempts to locate him. As they now hire a private investigator to continue the search for him, Jack’s mum Catherine is joining us alongside criminologist David Wilson to share Jack’s story, including the way Jay Slater’s recent disappearance has influenced their search for him.

Jack was one of my son Adam’s best friends at university. My only son unexpectedly died when he was 20…and Jack ran a 1/2 marathon in his honour. I was moved to tears at the kindness shown by Jack….who is such an intelligent, empathetic, humble and gracious young man. A truly wonderful human being. Jacks family need answers. His beautiful parents and brother are greatly suffering….& rightfully so. To experience the sudden loss of a beloved son/ daughter is an indescribable grief. But to ‘vanish’ into thin air seems equally profound. Pray for Jack & his family.

Madeleine was 3, so of course there was a lot of coverage! And it was long ago, it doesn't take anything away from Jack's case. Of course it's not fair at all that this case didn't have any coverage especially at the beginning in the most crucial hours but let's not compare this case to the disappearance of a 3 years old girl 17 years ago.

Can a search party not be organised ? Has anyone from this party he went to been interviewed by the police ? You can’t assume he just ended up in the river? A bright, intelligent, consiencious young man goes to a party, obviously has a few drinks, then tries to get home and is never seen again? Is it possible he might have been attacked? Hit by a car ? He certainly doesn’t sound like a young man that would just go off somewhere without messaging his family. Somethings not right here and surely someone must have seen him walking that night? I’m sure the people of the Uk will help in whatever way they can, if they know this young man’s gone missing? This poor family, my heart just goes out to them and I hope they get the help they need in finding their son Jack. Sending love and hope from Australia 🫶🏻

  • @ct5625
    @ct5625 2 месяца назад +53

    I knew it.
The cops immediately went to the ASSUMPTION that he'd simply fallen into the river. So instead of following actual facts, actual information, actual evidence, everything is polluted by their assumptions. This is the level of incompetence we have all seen in policing for decades. Go back to almost every prominent case and you'll see the same catastrophic failures, with egotistical and arrogant cops asserting that they know what happened, and therefore not doing the job they SHOULD be doing of gathering actual information that's pertinent to the case.
Then, when it becomes clear their incompetence has catastrophically damaged a case, they pivot their efforts entirely to protecting themselves from criticism. So now we can't trust anything they claim, because it's most likely designed to protect themselves from accountability.
There is zero reason to believe that Jack entered the water, there is no evidence at all, of any kind, which should give anyone any reason to come to that conclusion.
There is CCTV evidence to suggest that he DIDN'T, that he walked back away from that area, and there is phone ping data that puts his phone at several points away from that area.
My thoughts are with Jack's loved ones. I can't even imagine what they're going through.
He seems like a genuinely lovely lad with great success ahead of him, and I just hope they find him.

    • @SB-ss5ih

Sometimes it’s not because the specific individual police working on it are inept. Sometimes it’s because they’re part of a network. There’s only so long anyone could keep saying that. When people don’t do the very things they absolutely should it’s because they don’t want it uncovered.

    • @3lli0

I remember watching a documentary on netflix (UK) about a couple in California I believe and the lady had been kidnapped and her boyfriend left behind. The police initially blamed the boyfriend and wouldn't stop with that theory. Then they thought the couple had faked the kidnapping when she turned up a few days later. It turns out her story was true but by then the police and news had defamed their name. They sued for a lot. The worst part is, if the police had done their job in the first place, they would have found her before she was SA and r***ed

I've been following this for a while . This road is a busy road ,even in the early hours . It is the one people take to the airport as well so people using that may have seen something.
Jack banged his head at the party but not really been explained how he did it ,was it severe? Also did he leave the party on good terms ,was he upset? Why didn't he use his Uber app as it's quite difficult to flag a taxi down.
Had he arranged to meet someone or left in a rush ?
The police should of knocked every door under the area his phone last pinged and checked any CCTV .
They cannot just assume he is in the river .
Jack's mum said a car was on CCTV and stopped but they couldn't work out the model etc. To me this seems important. Did someone stop to give him a lift and he was cold and tired so said yes or was it someone he knew ?
The family are having a duplicate SIM looked at , really hope this shows something .
That river nearby is lethal and yes people have fallen in but it shouldn't be left how it is.
Jack's poor family ,how they must be feeling I cannot even begin to understand .
I really hope they get answers and IF any wrong doing has been done justice is served .
Lots of love to jack and his family ❤️

My heart breaks for the family of the young man . However , this is nothing new . I watch a lot of crime documentaries and if there is no new evidence they can't really do anything .
That doe not mean they haven't maybe made mistakes . But as parents we would all believe enough isn't be being done .
It really helps to have CTV footage . And he could have fallen in river . It happens more than people know .
People don't always want too believe that .
I hope he is found to give closure .
There are no people following him , no evidence of foul play yet .
If the Private Invester hasn't found anything then maybe there is nothing to find .
It sounds harsh but it is reality .

It doesn’t seem fair that some missing children/adults have more money spent on their search than others. To date over £13m has been spent on missing madeleine McCann.

We all know that her parents should have been arrested for neglect and child endangerment. What were they thinking? Leaving a 3 year old and two babies alone in a hotel room in a foreign country. Yet they get to play the victim for a mistake that's entirely their fault and people like Jack don't get any coverage or actual police work.

How is Jack not an "ideal victim?" He's young, white, good looking, educated and goes missing in one of the most sought after cities in the country. This case should be huge 😢

I'm so interested in Jack's case my daughter lives in Bristol. but why do we keep having this criminologist/ idiot commenting on stuff. He always just states the obvious . Really feel for the mother. Sadly he probably has passed but if he had been a 20 year old white girl they'd have looked for him more. Mother's intuition is a real thing she knew he would let her know if he wasn't coming home . Sending my love ❤

I truly believe Jay slater’s case got so much coverage because there were live cameras, in those first few days the public were watching them, trying to help find any sign. If they had those everywhere I think it would be a huge help!
After that is was all the conflicting statements, conspiracies etc that took over, but I really think those live cameras were what first got the public glued to it, and as we know the media just follow what gets the most clicks and views!

The police honestly and obviously don't care if someone is missing because to them someone being missing isn't that important when it is

Also, I think the fact that he's an adult has come into it as well. Even though it's possibly out of character for him to disappear and not get in contact , the fact he's an adult means he's low on the priority list which isn't right as Jack is someone's son and loved one.
Whereas a child or Jay Slater are considered higher priority due to them either being under age or missing in a foreign country

    • @ct5625

@@madeleinalazaris8138 But that's not the case when you're female.
Nicola Bulley is a good example, and there have been several others since.
Why did Nicola get 24/7 news coverage, volunteer search teams, masses of policing power, river searches, public release of CCTV footage within days, calls for information on the BBC...
I'm not saying she didn't deserve that, because she absolutely did. But there is a very obvious and clear bias going on where males are not given anywhere close to the same level of attention.

    • @madeleinalazaris8138
