For those of us outside the UK it is even more underwhelming - we have to factor in shipping cost, risk of the package going missing in the post, and Customs tax in our respective countries. Better to cherry pick the kits we really want and at deeper discounts from online retailers, and spread the risks over several mailorders.
What strikes me about this offer is the mix of genres. Putting aside the cost, most modelmakers I know tend to stick within certain perameters, eg WW2 aircraft, or armour, or Cold War aircraft and so on. And most of them also stick to one scale, eg 1/72 or 1/48 so to receive a package such as this, which appears to be very random, means that very many folk will be left with kits they wouldn't go out and buy anyway. Airfix might be better off offering genre-specific sets in the same scale instead. Just a thought...
Good video. Now as for Airfix listening well I am fast noticing that Airfix don’t listen. They treat us as ‘Fan Boys’ in the worst possible use of that term. Others treat their fan boys with care and respect. The deal works for Airfix and is iffy for us. Airfix don’t even give us the discount they give to dealers/retailers and Airfix still make a margin on that price!! As has been pointed out in another video the Club scheme needs to be in the 2nd year ( you then get 10% off) and it relies on you buying kits from Airfix to make the deal work! P&P. Btw is still at the £30 limit for members??!! Why couldn’t Airfix outline the 12 kits? Wanting to surprise us or not knowing what they would have in stock? I mean when a 2023 launch takes place with the vast majority of the kits unavailable and pre-order, with no dates, is the main option. Well that’s not a launch it’s an escape/leak/poor planning. No respect, No value in us as they believe will Just accept and we do because we love the brand. In the spouse relationship there would be suspicion and divorce!! When the ‘offers’ are/can be beaten by other companies without any commitment we are being abused! When the main man turns up at the launch looking scruffy and leaves his phone on and takes a look at a message whilst on stage……….well would he if he was meeting his piers? Nope he wouldn’t and we know it if we think about it. Good video as I said however I think you were softer than you needed (wanted??) to be on Airfix?! Bob England
Yeah it's not a BAD deal, but it just feels a little....underwhelming. I think something like this should feel really awesome - like you've really got a good deal. Let's face it, if it was like that they'd sell way more because we don't need much of an excuse to buy more kits!!
You missed the Hornby points, which add extra value. As a club member this would be £135 plus 1350 reward points effectively making the purchase £121.50. Wanting what is in the box is entirely subjective , however.
I didn't miss the points, but as this is a separate and entirely optional scheme I can't really include it in the value proposition for this box, nor can I "include" an Airfix club membership, which in itself is £30/year. I will, however, look at the Airfix Club, Hornby Points and Flying Hours propositions separately in another video
Indeed - apologies Luke, my initial look at them had not noticed the extra sprue in the Sherman (I've not looked at the Tiger but expect it's similar, though there seems to be more to the Tiger starter than the Sherman). Having said that, the larger extra sprue is just a broken down suspension and track set, rather than the "all in one" pieces, which seems....odd? In any case, I'm not sure it justifies any price discrepancy...though I will wait to judge until I've done both. But thanks for pointing it out and keeping me honest! 😀

Very pertinent points!

Hey Alex I have to agree with your comments. I got the 12 kits for £135 as I’m a club member. Tbh I would’ve like 1/2 more vehicles/amour, cheers

Great video as always.
I appreciate that
The sherman and tiger kits aren't the same as the starter kits these two have a lot more parts to them than the starter kits
I'm sorry to say but having both the starter and the bundle kits, they are identical
I think you should take a look at them again the starter sets are definitely a simplified version of the two kits you have in this video

Baby Poo Brown. 😂😂
Well...it was!
Spending money on kits you don't want to get kits you do want at a discount, is not a bargain.
More a dilution of funds.
Agreed!
