As a kid in the early 70's I used to wait with anticipation for the new Airfix catalogue to arrive at our local model shop. I'd cycle home on collecting it and eagerly flick through the pages to find the 'NEW' stars alongside the newly added model kits.
Well done Airfix you will never please everyone especially in the modelling world, but some interesting new and remarked stuff. For my area of interest B 24 is very welcome, I think the Beaufort will sell well in those markings, Whitley is a great kit. Like the snap together tanks for young modellers great to them into the hobby.
50+ year old memories! I have a Mk1 Spitfire to build which was the first one I built as a young lad. I was born in Bromley, Kent, but now live about 1.5 miles from the original Hornby factory. What made me buy it is that it has the markings of a RAF Biggin Hill based fighter which is very close to Bromley, and where I have visited many times in the past. RAF Manston is near where I live now, and they have a fantastic Spitfire and Hurricane museum that I urge everyone to visit. RAF Hawkinge near Folkestone is also a magnificent venue.
Wishing I still had my first fighter I build and "painted" 46 years ago, I made some black camo stripes on the bare plastic with regular paint, wee me never heard of a base coat.
So looking forward in seeing the B-24H in 1/72nd scale. I am building a number of models for some Museums in my area and looking forward in adding this one to the Displays. I am currently working on the B-25C and enjoying every minute on it.
Very impressive range, well presented. A tiny quibble: In the British armed forces, lieutenant is pronounced "leff-tenant" not "loo-tenant". (9:37). Thank you for the video and the exciting new range.

I do hope you intend to do this for all you releases going forward.
I'm honestly deeply confused as to why people feel so strongly about this. Personally I just want a box that shows me a useful view of the vehicle I'll be building

Airfix models are brilliant. So many childhood memories of members of our family making aircraft and ships. Received one for my birthday last year and must get on with it.
Nice. The two 1/76 Guards band and colour party is great. I´m just about to start making a series on the HO scale figures starting from 1959 and doing one video for every year onward with every HO figure set released that year. Just missed an almost mint first set of guards in pink but I´m still on the hunt so I can start the series. These two sets will be a fun comparison to make. The H model Liberator is a very smart choice. The old Academy kit was reasonable for its time, but had a J model nose with the H model turret, so it is about time we had an accurate one. I'm sure it will be tooled to allow future releases of other variants. Perhaps even a Coastal Command one?
Hi Dale, hope you're well. I remember meeting you at the air tattoo show some time in July last year. Remembered asking for a B-24. Im really glad airfix has released a new, more available B-24. Thankyou. Very excited for this kit.
I’m happy of the new tools of B-24H Bf-109f and D-Day sets and I hope for the new tool 1/72 scale Spitfire XIVc/e for the surprise release of 2024 well done to the teams of Airfix.
Some decent kits in that lot, but both lifeboats are what I'm most excited about. Seriously, Shannon class as a starter set? Blown away. Nice launch, Airfix. You showed Hornby how it's done.
So excited to see that Bristol Bulldog, definitely a pre order for that little beauty. Shannon lifeboat looks good too, but best of all is that P1127, given to me in original packaging. Now I can display a built up model and the 1963 version together.

Starter sets make the curious small person obtain a gift, or save money to buy; a complete experience of building model kits. Bravo! Had to slowly buy all the bits n pieces to complete a kit in my day. Loved it. Spread the joy.!
Some kits there I will be ordering. Never thought about modelling something like lifeboats before - but I may well be buying those! Alas, no new Fairey Battle! - or even the old kit back again! But still some to go for!!
Slick presentation and very informative. Well done Airfix; I hope these will do well in 2024. B24 is the highlight for me but I like all the new starter sets as well, especially the RNLI offering. Re-releases - great new schemes for Gladiator, Tiger Moth, MIG 17 and the especially wonderful Beaufort, I'll certainly take on another. The Meteor FR9 club kit was one of my 2023 favourites. Maybe a Vintage Classic ship for the list?
Airfixx are really getting better every year. The last 3 kits I've made were Airfix. The 1/48 Lighthing F1. Their 1/48 Spitifre MK14 converted to a high back, and the 1/48 Sea Vixen. All look amazing. I wish Airfix would design proper crew figures though and not generic on file ones with hands on laps and oxygen masks off. I would love to see a 1/350 HMS Victory, with loads of photo etch. Even though it would be small it could be displayed with other ships of the same scale.
WOW! Some really ace releases - I love the fact that you've put out a new tool Shannon Lifeboat and re-released the Severn! Superb stuff. A new tool HC.4 Chinook is a cracking idea, as is the B-24H, and it's about blooming time you did a new tool Typhoon! Great stuff Guys!

Good to see the new beginner kits still have seated pilots, wheels up and flight stands engineered in! Pity there's droop on the Chinook blades though, but they can be bent easily enough for inflight mode. Wouldve liked to have seen more 1/24 re-releases, particularly Hellcat and Typhoon which are hard to find these days...cheers Chris
Ive been hoping that they would bring out the Hampden, cant wait hopefully it will be out soon, as for the others the Liberator and chinook look fab well done Airfix
Very impressed the boys from Airfix!!! How hard to choose what is viable and of interest to a hobby audience so varied in tastes, age groups and competence. Love the Liberator, just thinking recently how few B-24 options there are out there available or just long in the tooth. Bulldog bring back memories of a childhood build, what a detailed kit in my fav scale 1/48. Huge fan of the Beaufort and the schemes are perfect, the Eurofighter was a great idea as the Chinook in again perfectly chosen markings. Would be nice to have 3 decal choices in the larger scales. Whitley gratefully received and lovely idea with the Lifeboat and proceeds going to the heros who protect our shores. Impressive markings on the ' Glad' and late Spit too plus the Tiger and Shermans making another mark in bigger scale. Huge P-40 fan so another excuse to go shopping and great to see the Swift. Part of british jet evolution.Vey happy to see we can now add the Hampden to our Blenheim and Beaufort for lighter twin engined bombers.Well done Gentleman, you cant please everyone all the time and us impatient picky lot can remember that there will be more to come. Get the till ready gents,im on my way. Oh and . . . THANK YOU! :-)
Thank you Dale. A very tasty list, particularly Ajax (which I was only thinking about the other day). Think if you brought out Exeter (or brought back Sulfolk for the conversion) we could make a "River Plate Set". Hooray for P1127 and Belvedere that I missed first time around. There certainly are some very interesting new projects in my mind now. Incidentaly, you mentioned the Belvedere comming in exciting times, but as a follow up, Bristol sold the rights to the tandem helicopter work to Boeing Vertol from which many derivatives have followed. This sort of makes the Chinnook (another release) the great great (however many greats) grandchild of the Belvedere. Keep it up Airfix.
I'll be picking up the RNLI boats, the Chinook and the Bulldog I think and interested in what you're keeping quiet about this year. There's a definite Op Granby theme through a lot of these releases recently so a new Tonka and Jag must be on the roadmap somewhere, hopefully in 1/48th
Goodness Airfix! Well done with the new moulds. I am currently building several of your 72nd Scale kits. I think the new quality level your company has achieved is outstanding. Great range, great subjects. Keep up the great work!
The correct wheel nuts on the Cromwell is a superb admission and rectification of a mistake. I bought the original and paid for a new set of wheels in resin. I'm hoping Airfix will make good on the expenses that modellers have had to incur... at the very least a FREE set of wheels to anyone with a photo of the kit in their possession.
Wonderful to see you going strong in this uncertain world. Was hoping to see some more 1/35 vehicles, preferably British. Hope some are on the cards later.
Imagine the business they will sweep up when they make vehicles in 28mm scale once the full takeover of warlord happens. Needs to be quick before companies like Victrix hoover up the bulk buying war gamers.
Got my first ever airfix build for Christmas off my partner, the spit fire, really enjoyed building it and painting, she really has started a new hobby here for me now 😀
Loving the Lifeboats, especially as the Range has grown......I’ll be having both of these! 👍🏻👍🏻 Thank you for wheeling back out the HP Hampden....old but very do’able.....and I’ll be having that as well! 🤪 Re Lifeboats: It would be a massive thing if you could, as a new kit, introduce a Watson Class Lifeboat to the fleet. My reason for asking is this: In 1981, the Penlee Lifeboat “The Solomon Browne” (which was a Watson Class Lifeboat), went to the assistance of the MV Union Star. Despite the ferocity of the weather, the virtual beaching of the Union Star and knowing full well, that the situation was irreconcilable, the Coxswain Trevelyan Richards, made every attempt at rescuing all souls that were aboard the Union Star. He and his Crew almost succeeded but were cheated by mechanical failure (obstructed propellors). Without power and in hurricane force conditions, all lives were lost..... ....it would be a very honourable thing if, some 44 years later, we could remember the RNLI in general, through such a model in 2025? Thank you to all of you! ❤️
Here, here. That's a fantastic idea. I have a lot of respect for the RNLI. The Severn kit was a real challenge. I think the hull was very tricky to get right. Perhaps the new release has this updated a bit
@@narlokeill736 Thank you! Coming from a seaside town originally (Whitstable), so have I. The Crews, nationally, are absolutely the best, along side all of our Services, Armed and otherwise and generally a microcosm of our society as well. A Watson Class Boat, especially if paired with a Sea King Helicopter, would be even better. On the night, Rescue Eight Zero, From 820 Naval Air Squadron, flown by LtCDR Russell Smith, United States Navy, was prevented from rescuing the souls aboard the Union Star due to the excessive rise and fall of the ship. Rescue Eight Zero remained “on Station” until LrCDR Smith believed that the Penlee Boat was pulling away and ceasing its attempts at further rescue, so they weren’t privy to the actual destruction of the Solomon Browne. As far as stories of the truly heroic go, none in my humble opinion, surpass that of Trevelyan Richards and his Crew. The very best of us who were foiled at the very last. I was Thirteen at the time and it left a deep impression on me.

My son is an RNLI coxwain (Mudeford) so I built this kit for my grandson but it is a disappointment.
Chinook is a great addition! Will we see an RAF Puma please? RAF VC-10's, especially the tankers, need the Airfix treatment please in 1/72 to go with the Victor. Civil variants expand the range further. Does anyone else agree?
I’m struggling to comprehend the absolute day and night comparison between Hornby and Airfix considering it’s basically A twin brand, this is just so informative historically and presented smoothly, with some nice video and comp shots, compared to Hornby’s range release vid I felt like I could tell, deep down, Trains bore them
Ive got several 100 Airfix, Frog and Revell 1/72 made up painted kits from the 1960s packed vertically in a large tea chest packed away since 1973. Watching this promo vid has stired those wonderful model making feelings maybe to start again at the age of 70😊

Definitely plan on getting myself the Sherman and the Tiger 1. I’ve already got 3 Sherman’s and a panzer III but the Tiger 1 will be my first model of the Tiger series
I love the new tool kits for this year! Especially the Liberator it fills a huge gap in the market. Also that Shannon class lifeboat is so cute like I have to get one even though I'm not a ship modeler :D
When are you going to bring back the 600 Scale S S FRANCE ??? She was a beautiful Liner . I know the molds were lost but make new ones ? The plans have to be somewhere . Thank you !
Great to see the Guards Band and Guards Colour Party back, along with the P.1127 and the Belvedere. Just a pity there are no new small scale armour kits, or 1/32nd scale vintage cars. Keep the Vintage Classics coming.
Very nice new sets!!! I got some of the new tooling kits, mainly tanks, excellent!!! Nice to see P1127 and Belvedere again being produced. Had a lot of work with the P1127 making interior and two position canopy and landing gear, and also the famous but almost never used external weapons support. Nice little bird. As always, I pushed a little harder than required to include a single cannon pod. This will be removed sometime in the future, as no single weapon pod was ever fitted to Kestrels or Harriers, let alone the original P1127. The general idea is to turn the airplane in a Kestrel, as one of the options of the kit was fairly similar, exception being made to the horizontal stabilizers. These were slightly different in dihedral and shape. The dihedral I could correct, the shape I could not. I guess all miniature plane lovers may have some prefered planes. This little, wildly experimental jet was mine. The same way with my beloved Harriers and the fantastic Sea Harrier... peharps Airfix may try a Kestrel kit, 1/72, with some extra fittings, such as the engine or a pair or two of bombs, and, of course, some fitters and a pilot, with an old version Land Rover. This would preserve one of the most important steps in the development of VSTOL aircraft... Kind regards from the distant shores of Brazil!!!
I just pre-ordered the new 1/48 Bristol Bulldog, only fair to support your efforts Airfix, after asking for one for some time! Tremendously appreciated good people, well done! I do hope to see more interwar aircraft in 1/48, I'm sure that they'll sell like hot cakes! 👍🏻 Oh, I actually pre-ordered two! 😉 Roll on spring! 😁😎
I like the life boat release. I usually don’t make boats or ships and being from the United States. I don’t know much about the RNLI but I think that is going to be a nice build.
It's different from the US system in a few interesting ways. Offshore patrol and icebreaking is done by the Navy. Lights and navigation markers by the Lighthouse Board(s). UK Border Force has its own cutters for tax and crime etc. As a result life saving is done by the Royal National Lifeboat Institute, who use small and tough little boats for their specialised rescue ops. The iconic color scheme is a mix of royal blue and bright 'international orange'
Lot's of 1/72 which is nice, looking forward to the Chinook, B-24 and Meteor PR9 releases but a bit dissapointed that the new typhoon FGR4 is only a starter kit and not a full blown kit like the phantom, buccaneer and lightning. Still very nice looking releases, good job.
back in early the 70's ,the box artwork in itself would be enough to make you want that kit, so much joy building the classic airliners from Airfix , Comet, Trident, VC10 , Boeing 707 , Vanguard and all in pocket money range about 50 p to 70 p depending on the Series they were in , had to go to Revell for the United DC8 or the SAS DC 10 , although the Airfix Air Canada L1011 was nice . , innocent days indeed .
Overall a nice collection of kits. I'm just wondering if the Liberator is the Academy tooling. I noticed they didn't show the actual kit as they did of the other releases. I must be honest I was hoping for a new tooling of the Jaguar GR1 and the Hampden. Hopefully they may suprise us yet in the future.
Just a quick question guys... I've recently noticed that Luftwaffe aircraft in kit form no longer come with Swazstika decals but the Corgi range of resin models have them applied. Is there a reason for this as Corgi and Airfix are part n parcel of the same company. Apologies in advance if my question causes offence. I no way whatsoever mean any offence to anbody

Great set of kits! I love building your kits and have recently purchased a Bristol Beaufighter TF.X!
A 'River Plate' set for the 85th anniversary at the end of the year would be a great idea.
@@Peter-ho6ei Wouldn't it just.
Agree! 😂
I got a couple in the Christmas/new year sale which both have the eight nut wheels so looks like they're out there already.
Wonderful to see you going strong in this uncertain world. Was hoping to see some more 1/35 vehicles, preferably British. Hope some are on the cards later.
you never know what the rest of 2024 will bring!
some of us want to see more 1:72 vehicles, preferably modern :) The Ferret in 1:72 would be nice
Imagine the business they will sweep up when they make vehicles in 28mm scale once the full takeover of warlord happens. Needs to be quick before companies like Victrix hoover up the bulk buying war gamers.
What a fantastic range. Love the original artworks.
Looks great! Would love to see airfix get back into making 1/72 figure kits though.
1.76 scale would be better for soldiers.
So happy seeing the Lib back!
RAF Jaguar, please!
It's great to see a new tool 1/72 B-24. I was hoping for a new tool 1/48 Jaguar GR1. Maybe it'll be one of the surprise announcements?.
Fantastic release....but would like to see more figures please
Was hoping for a Jag to go with the Bucc but can't sniff at the Chinook and Liberator - both going onto my to buy list for this year.
Brilliant, good selection Airfix!!👍
The d day fighters gift set and bf109 starter set are definitely on my wishlist!
Got my first ever airfix build for Christmas off my partner, the spit fire, really enjoyed building it and painting, she really has started a new hobby here for me now 😀
Love it some great reissues and that new tool B-24 ❤
so glad your still going .grew up in Aus , building ww2 planes in the '60s early '70's
Most excellent- very gratifying to see Airfix doing well. I've been hooked since I was 9-10 and built my first Lancaster in 1980.
Fantastic, really awesome, have made many through the years ,ooh there's excitement in the air for sure, thanks guys
Loving the Lifeboats, especially as the Range has grown......I’ll be having both of these! 👍🏻👍🏻 Thank you for wheeling back out the HP Hampden....old but very do’able.....and I’ll be having that as well! 🤪
Re Lifeboats: It would be a massive thing if you could, as a new kit, introduce a Watson Class Lifeboat to the fleet.
I don't expect Airfix have changed anything with the Severn-Class Lifeboat re-issue, unfortunately. I have just built one from my stash and it is an appalling kit. Warped hull, poor fit (gaping hole in the hull around the lateral propeller), lack of clarity in the instructions. One of the worst kits I have built in 40 years of modelling. The box says skill level 2 which is ridiculous, this kit is well beyond the ability of a novice to make the necessary corrections. Such a shame Airfix continually sit so low in the quality tables against Tamiya and the modern manufacturers. My son is an RNLI coxwain (Mudeford) so I built this kit for my grandson but it is a disappointment.
where is 1/48 tsr.2 at?
all looks lovely but would be nice see something for 1:48
Chinook is a great addition! Will we see an RAF Puma please? RAF VC-10's, especially the tankers, need the Airfix treatment please in 1/72 to go with the Victor. Civil variants expand the range further. Does anyone else agree?
Happy to see most of the kitts but where or when is someone going to release a FW 189 please
I’m struggling to comprehend the absolute day and night comparison between Hornby and Airfix considering it’s basically A twin brand, this is just so informative historically and presented smoothly, with some nice video and comp shots, compared to Hornby’s range release vid I felt like I could tell, deep down, Trains bore them
True
LOL
I think that's a great selection, with perhaps some more surprises later. Thanks and well done Airfix.
ok if you like aeroplanes but as usual no sailing ships
Ive got several 100 Airfix, Frog and Revell 1/72 made up painted kits from the 1960s packed vertically in a large tea chest packed away since 1973. Watching this promo vid has stired those wonderful model making feelings maybe to start again at the age of 70😊
Bravo Airfix..The quick build kits look amazing especially the 1/35 Sherman and Tiger, which is a clever move.!.Love the shadow stands on the Q/B aircraft and love them in 1/48 as well.!Also the lifeboats, both the older release and the great new release are something a bit special and can’t wait to buy.!.Finally a Bristol Bulldog..Wow.!.A great aircraft from the 20’s/30’s.!.Thank you Airfix..👍
Ok now the just me wishing bit..How the Swift looks a gem in 1/72..But in 1/48 would fit so well,,,,,,,along with a rerelease of the 1/48 E/E Lightning…You know..Go well with the New R.A.F Buccaneer,,,Sea king,,Lightning,,,Swift🤞,,,maybe the Canberra and Jaguar…Who knows…😉…All the best and thanks again.!🇬🇧👍
Definitely plan on getting myself the Sherman and the Tiger 1. I’ve already got 3 Sherman’s and a panzer III but the Tiger 1 will be my first model of the Tiger series
Will these be available in The US too?
Whatever happended to transparent stands so as to give the better impression of an aeroplane flying ?
Love the warships, would love to see the QE and POW aircraft carriers one day on here.
Here's hoping!
1/32 scale classic car kits?
I love the new tool kits for this year! Especially the Liberator it fills a huge gap in the market. Also that Shannon class lifeboat is so cute like I have to get one even though I'm not a ship modeler :D
Is going to mold anymore 1:48 Fairey Gannets?
When are you going to bring back the 600 Scale S S FRANCE ??? She was a beautiful Liner . I know the molds were lost but make new ones ? The plans have to be somewhere . Thank you !
Great to see the Guards Band and Guards Colour Party back, along with the P.1127 and the Belvedere. Just a pity there are no new small scale armour kits, or 1/32nd scale vintage cars. Keep the Vintage Classics coming.
Well Airfix yoh have just sold a Lifeboat start set! Definitely getting that. And great to see more boats in your range
Nice tools!
Never build AirFix before. Just bought the C47 for D-Day-Day. Very excited for this one!
Looking forward to buy some of the nee releases!
Just finished the C47. Absolute dog of a kit, it was so bad it flew straight into my bin.
@@simonbaker6962 but why? The sprues seems so perfect
Ola , Marco. Sim eu concordo. (I hope that's correct?)
@@peterbellwood5412 Sim, Peter, você está correto! Thanks for your kindness!!!
Are the Airfix 1/24 scale Spitfire and Hurricane still in the current catalog? Those were both awesome kits!
Oh, I actually pre-ordered two! 😉
Roll on spring! 😁😎
Really awesome range!! well done Airfix. Eurofighter Typhoon and Bulldog are on the buy-list 😊
Just bought the last issue of the B-24 on eBay for about £25. Dammit!
These look great! So excited!
Good mix. Good work! Happy with the Chinook, Liberator, Bulldog. Maybe a new tool Hampden next year?
Lot's of 1/72 which is nice, looking forward to the Chinook, B-24 and Meteor PR9 releases but a bit dissapointed that the new typhoon FGR4 is only a starter kit and not a full blown kit like the phantom, buccaneer and lightning. Still very nice looking releases, good job.
Looking to sell to the American market this year?
Yes surely. Stupid not to.
Didn't see anything of interest to this Yank.
No afv's in 1/35?
back in early the 70's ,the box artwork in itself would be enough to make you want that kit, so much joy building the classic airliners from Airfix , Comet, Trident, VC10 , Boeing 707 , Vanguard and all in pocket money range about 50 p to 70 p depending on the Series they were in , had to go to Revell for the United DC8 or the SAS DC 10 , although the Airfix Air Canada L1011 was nice . , innocent days indeed .
Lynx and the Wessex! Looking forward to building them.
We need a reissue of the vintage DINOSAURES kits !!!
Cool liberator yes i il be ordering that soon mite have a look at the chinook too
Nice to see a few more re-releases of 1/600 warships, sure hope they continue. 60 year Airfix fan here, thx for the memories.
Loving the shadow stands and interior details. Now if you could get me a Leopard 1interior in 1/35....
