This is the Vola Vasti Tele-style electric guitar. The Vola Vasti is one of the most inspiring guitars I have played in a long time. I love the sound of the guitar, the feel, and the unique visual vibe of it.
The Vasti is made in Japan and comes with its own gig bag. The Vola Vasti also features a boost circuit attached to the bridge pickup for added oomph when soloing. This boost is passive so it does not require any power or replacement batteries
Vola sent this out for review and they have not paid me in addition to letting me keep the instrument. I am a huge fan of this guitar brand due to their designs ticking a lot of the boxes I check for when I buy an electric guitar. The Vola Vasti also comes in a number of other colors too.

That opening track was spot-on, Shane. The pacing, tone, intensity build-up came together so smoothly. Well done!
Thanks man!
Nice nod to the Marshall Tucker Band in the first intro man! Looks like another winner instrument! Great review! 🎸✌🏻😎
Great looking T-Style guitar. Wonderful playing Shane and great review. I like it ! Blues On....💙
Shane,
Has anyone (or everyone) told you lately how really, really good your playing sounds?! 👍
Thanks so much! This guitar inspired me to rip into it a little bit :)
Amazing solos - and that tone!
I don't get why this guys videos only get a few thousands views -- he's been around for a long time and has some of the best guitar content on youtube! Keep it up dude!
Thanks, mate. I guess because I don't present a fake-as personalty or something. I am not sure what it is, but I appreciate the kind words. The more shares we can get on the videos and likes the more it will grow. I have tried to bring some different stuff to the guitar niche on here but it's a shame people mostly just watch the big brand stuff.
When you started playing all I could think of is Steve Cropper, his tone sounds like this. super tone. Thanks for all the hard work in making the videos. Most appreciated Mate! Best to you in all your endeavors.
Thanks for the kind words and compliment there Todd! Many thanks, mate. Steve Cropper is a monster and one of the first guitarists I ever remember hearing.
150K subscribers soon!
Great intro mate ! sounded awesome. This telecaster is a mean looking guitar wish I had one.
You are getting some nice feel into your playing lately, articulating sweetly mate!
In the first tune no sooner than I thought play it Steve.... Toy Caldwell stepped out to finish things off. Love the Vola and the playing!
The solo on the first track was a real face melter, good work Shane!
Sounds great Shane 👍
i really dig this guitar.
To me.... this sounds better than your new Tele.....it make me want to buy a Vola.. great video
Different!! I like it!
Well done!
really love how this guy holds his pick. really basic yet so effective.
Thanks mate. I never learned how to do it the "right way" but it works for me. I like to use the round side of it rather than the point too :)
I actually like this guitar way more than the Strat style Vola!!! I could see myself buying this to be my Tele style guitar because of its tonal options and the overall look of it. Wow!! I’m not just a Fender/Gibson fanboy after all!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣 Great track Shane!!! Cheers!!!🎸🎸🎸✌🏾✌🏾✌🏾✌🏾
I thought the same thing. I like the Tele version more than the Strat version as well.
Thanks, Jamal. I really love this thing that boost knob is a monster and the steely overtones are awesome :)
I LOVE my OZ and now really want a Vasti!
@@jayceburns8246 I’m with you - the Strat tones are killer, I’d like medium jumbo frets (I think the Strat has medium) - I have my eye on a used Vasti as I write this 🤤
Play's great, looks great as well. here I was thinking that all the good body shapes had already been done.
The bridge pickup is a humbucker. The "boost" is just a simple coil tap. Knob down and the bridge pickup is either being split or set to parallel. Knob up and it's in serial, standard humbucker mode.
Probably a coil tap since it dosent change tone. "power-boost" has to be a vola marketing team thing
Just when I thought I didn't need any more guitars.... I was obviously wrong. Love your work man.
I like it . I'm not a snob , but to me Fender style guitars usually look dodgy because of their headstock, whereas I think because they went the extra mile and did something more original with the body on this ,the headstock compliments it. Sounds great too of course 👍
Great tune Shane. The Vola Vista sounds great. The bridge looks like it’s longer than a regular t style bridge, so may not be able to swap the bridge if you wanted to
I like it! Looked like it was easy for you to play. cheers!
Thanks mate
The day Vola cuts away and slims down that huge blocky neck joint, will be the day Vola will have one new die hard fan!
Looking forward to a comparison with your 50's Tele :)
Wow! Love the tone of both pickups...la guitarra luce y suena ESPECTACULAR!!!...greetings from Melipilla in Chile! 🎼🎵🎸🎶
I've been a subscriber for several years now and your playing has improved tremendously. Good video as usual. Also, I miss Guitar Search Saturdays. Can't wait until you're able to do them again.
Thanks, Daniel. Once the new lockdown is over I'll start doing some more. :)
intheblues I'm in New Jersey in the US. We've just started coming out of our lockdown in the last few weeks. Still a Long way to go. Stay safe and rock on!
Nice guitar man. But let's talk about your playing. You've always had some amazing melodic sense, but this is next level. First track of this vid may be your best ever track? Which is saying something.
Great video Shane. You make every guitar sound fantastic.
There’s Super Strats, but this is a killer TELE! What a wicked tone you got from it. Still has the classic neck pickup and brass saddles, there’s no room to complain.
Really dig the body shape as is still functions on the leg and looks comfortable on a strap. The color is perfect as well. The bridge PUP has great potential. And having that boost will be really useful.
This was an awesome review. I was waiting for this guitar to shine, and did it ever! What a distinct sound which was perfectly mated to a valve amplifier.
Stunning guitar. I usually don't like modern takes on classics, but I really dig this one and the strat! Very classy and amazing feats of Japanese craftsmanship!
Btw: what string gauge do you play?
That's Really a Sweet guitar Shane!
I'm a sucker for tele style guitars!
Well done and thanks for sharing brother! Be Well All!
Japanese guitars and Greek pedals. Awesome!
Reminds me of sweet nothing velvet underground. Sounds lovely. The delay adds a lot.
Gollts say it sounds great but the looks are something else !
Nice. 22 frets too (which matters to me) 🙂
That's a fantastic modern take to the traditionnal Tele. Sounds killer too.. And we could feel your inspiration in your great playing. Thanks
I really like those Vola guitars and you are right Shane...Japanese guitars are fantastic!!!!!
That’s one hell-of-a sharp beak 😉
Can be useful if the crowd or a bandmate gets unruly!
Oh man.. Sounds great!
Great playing
Wow! Maybe my favorite of all your guitars, you sound great Shane.
Thanks, Steve! I am really digging the tone and vibe of this thing.
Great sounding guitar and great playing Shane - loved it.
Great opening solo, Shane!
Awesome backing tracks!!!! The Vola looks gorgeous and sounds fantastic! Great vid!!!
You've gotten much better. Well done!
Sounds great Shane. I really enjoyed it in this video and in the live streams this past week.
That is some killer tone, Shane. Love your playing on this. And that guitar is SWEET !
Ahh, the video we've all been waiting for. Lovely tele.
It is very nice overall, and has the sounds to boot.
That maybe your best tone ever Shane! Killer sounding stuff mate😎🎸
Sweet guitar man, I'd get one to second my telecaster,, great playing BTW, I enjoy the hell outta your jams 🙏🤘👍
Hi Shane,
Great review mate. Any idea if these are available in Australia?
Not sure about the look but it realy sound great! How about testing the Godin stadium ht?
Cool, all around! The backing tracks were tasty! When you started w/ neck my thought was the George Harrison song "Something" would sound good with those settings! All in all it looks like a versatile guitar, and a keeper! Blessings From Kansas
The tones and looks are just killer on that Vola. I have a PRS Vela which I love, but this reminds me a bit of that (ie modern, comfortable Tele config)
Wooo! Got some southern rock touch ala' Marshall Tucker band on that 1st jam! Haven't quite heard that side from you yet, rockin'!
that first jam reminded me of primal scream for some reason, nice one man \m/
The backing track sounds like "Oh Sweet Nothing" from the Velvet Underground. Fantastic playing as always Shane!
The guitar is nice . But its the great playing that makes it really shine ! Rock-on Shane !
Today there are too many brands of guitars, pedals and amps. It just complicates our choice. Guitar players spend more time thinking about material than playing.
A bit hard on the eyes for the price, great vibrato as always
A great set of intro tracks Shane. Very Stevie Wonder on the 2nd 👍🏼
Awesome playing Shane!! Who stocks these here in Aus?
Check the websites in the description mate. They offer free shipping to Aus :)
She sweet! IF she inspires you to play, she's done her job! Sounds great! \m/
Hi shane the vola sounds awesome whereabouts im Melbourne can u buy them from and how much do they cost cheers Michael.
The Tensolo link in the description offers free delivery to Australia.
For a sec there I thought the opening was a take on Oh Sweet Nothing from the Velvet Underground. Guitar sounds fantastic! 👍
Hey Shane - your vids look great: i just got myself a Lumix G9 with firmware update and wondering what picture style you are using..? Cine D, natural..?
Cine-V straight out of the camera. The G9 is a great camera well done! :)
I remember when they used to plug these in Guitar Player magazine in the 90's. Always looked like great guitars. Only trouble is, they've never had a distributor in Australia. Seems like not much has changed. China's about the closest to import it from.
Doesn't really sound like a Tele to me, but it sounded bloody fantastic. Were you playing thru the Marshall? If so, maybe a little country number thru a Fender would be nice.
Sounds like a Tele to me but fair enough. Thehe start was a mix of tones but for the main part of the video I had the DSL40CR cranked up 8:02
Hey Mate, have you been sent a nux mg300 unit to test. Cheers P.s. tempted with the Vola ; )
It's got a good sound but I can't decide if its the guitar or the signal processing, which makes almost everything sound better. The shape and color and gotoh staggered tuners plus fat frets all good. Good review Shane.
As a Tele/Humbucker player, I love the sound of the pickups, but I would hate a neck like this, it looks really flat on the board, and kind of small but a little wide (like most 80's Super Strats with Floyd Rose, which I hate), feels like playing a school Ruler
Nice demo, Shane. They seem like an attractive option for folks in the market for a T guitar. About cleaning up when the guitar volume is dropped, is that a function of the guitar, or amp, or both?
It sounds like a coil split where the standard position is the split coil rather than the humbucker. Which positions have single coil hum?
Could also be a parallel to series switch which would do something similar.
A humbucker wired in standard series mode has more overall girth than one in parallel.
Shane needs to end this mystery and take a look under the control plate!
Where is Dr Ric? He must have some new gear to show us by now.
Terry O'Malley g’day mate. Hope you’re staying safe and well! I’ve been working too hard since the start of the pandemic in mid-March...and my guitars have been so important in keeping my head in the right space!
I was just saying to Shane yesterday that I owe him and our subs a few new videos for various pieces of gear. We’ll get something organised soon!
Good to hear you will be back with us soon Ric. I think you make a very good point about the well being that guitars and music bring. Cheers legend
sounded in the intro like Marshall Tucker Band
That's one of the best sounding Tele neck pickups I've heard. Amazing.
Thanks, mate. I love the tone of this thing. I will have to do a comparison to showcase it against the other Tele guitars in the collection.
Can't you seeeeee, can't you seeeeee, what that woooooman, does to me! Love it :-)
Jack Riner 😂😂✌🏾✌🏾✌🏾✌🏾
Such a great song
What amp?
Sweet playing Shane! Guitar is gorgeous and sounds fantastic. What color is that? HNGD!
Thanks, Scotts man. It's called a vintage Ivory. It looks pretty wild in person too. :)
@@intheblues Fantastic color!
Is the 'Boost' switch a 'straight to output jack' or 'Blow' switch, as I’ve seen it called. Doesn’t seem to be any onboard electronics for active circuitry. Great playing as always, Shane! Btw, the wireless units work a treat!👌👍
I think it runs thru a cap and filters some low end and mids. When you pull it up, it drops the cap out of the circuit. This is nothing new. My Hofner style violin bass, has a rhythm/solo switch, which is passive. Runs thru a cap in rhythm setting, scooping a fair bit of mids out. When I hit solo switch, it drops the cap out and you get a hit of mids to the sound!
HiShane! That was quick, making this video, I mean! (Sweeeet solo in the beginning, btw! Great tone, great vibe...It sounds as fat and big as a humbucker..but still articulate like the single that it is.
Oooh, I just caught it! The hotrails in the bridge. Very sneaky, Shane! Lol.
I see you do that a lot - one of your own Tele's has the same treatment. Do you find that...the ashtray, or something else, makes the humbucker better or more tele like? Rephrase: Are the hotrails in the ashtray different than other HH teles?
I've been umming & ahhing about getting a Tele again - I used to have this stunning black US. Tele when I was young...when I lost it I gave up guitar altogether...for over 15 years.. probably closer to 20!
Anyway, I've spent between 5 and 10 grand (AUD) in the last 2 and a half yrs since I got back into playing, on a bunch of different guitars and amps and pedals...but I still haven't gotten another black Tele (or any
Idk why...it's just ...I'm right at home with the humbucker tones I get from my Gibson....but I couldn't buy a HH tele and convince myself I satisfactorily replaced my old faithful Tele. It would be a totally different guitar, to me...still cool, but not an acceptable replacement.
But a Black Tele with one of these hotrails in the bridge could just be the ticket. I'm thinking of a G&L.
Any tips about getting a hotrails put into an ashtray beige? Cheers.
It's stock.
Where do you get them from in Australia? Or do you have to get them shipped from Japan?
The Tensolo link in the description offers free delivery to Australia.
@@intheblues Thanks mate! Free delivery in 2020 is like finding a Unicorn.
I’ve never been a boost fan. We always had the band drop down at the beginning of the solo and then build it back up with the soloist. Sweet looking tele alternative and excellent video as always! Good playing and a cool guy who isn’t a conceited ego guy! Just giving us sweet guitar info! Thank you!
What gauge strings on this thing? Ur vibrato is really smooth.
How does one even get in touch with these people? I've tried.
Check the links in the description. :)
What’s the weight ?
Can't You See?
Recognised the first tune despite the heavy disguise - not a Tele and not a Strat in sound. Pretty good though.
Sounds/looks good.
Any Reverend reviews in the future?
I would love to review some more I might see what I can find online down the track for sure.
👍🔥🎸🦅
Hi
Sounds like a Telecaster. Omg, thought you were highlighting another budget series... $1200! Guess not, lol.
More cheap stuff coming up soon. It's good to showcase some high-quality stuff as well.
Righties will probably be able to pick them up on the used market for (relative) bargain prices. Lefties will get into bidding wars over used ones.
Yea it sounds good, however, for the price I'm seeing for this guitar, I'd put the money towards a Fender Custom Shop Telecaster. But that Vola does sound pretty darn good
Great looking guitar. I'd rather have a Vola than a Fender.
Poor Fender. All these brands copying them. It's a shame. It is normal when cheap brands copy. This allows everyone to play the guitar. But when powerful brands copy like PRS it is a shame and a lack of creativity most of all. Why don't they create their own guitars?
I love to argue but I kind of agree with you. From day one fenders were so unique. They got popular not on their guitar making but how they sounded. Artist created Music around the Fender guitar. Surf music, electric country and so on. I guess it's flattering to Fender but also costly. They have fought it over the years. Hard to copyright the actual sound. But it is a total rip-off. I'm guessing some of the laws they wrote didn't protect them enough.
It hasn't changed much basically there are two guitar tones. Humbuckers and single coils. It seems Fender and Gibson got it right from the get-go. So all new companies can do is change their body shape. Which they should probably do but the company will go nowhere.Vola is making high-end Fender like guitars for half the price and I don't think that's fair.
I seem to remember going to vola a short time ago. And the prices were higher. So if they lowered them to undercut Fender that's not fair.
@@guitarocd9984 This was not how Leo Fender viewed things. His view was that by copying his designs people in less fortunate circumstances could make a living and afford a better standard of living, and those peoples children would benefit by having better opportunities with respect to education, health, and homes/shelter.
