What an addition to this band Gina is!!! 👏 🎉🎉🎉 Rarely have I witnessed such a perfect replacement in a band. She's much more than a replacement... She brought 2 voices and a fiery attitude with her! Rock on!!!! 🤟🤟
Baroness is the only band where I always listen to their live sets over their albums because they sound that much better. Whoever is producing them has been squashing their mixes and completely killing those beautiful guitar tones and vocal harmonies.
Funny enough, the band co-produced Purple and were fully at the reins for their new Stone record... so I guess send your feedback directly to Baroness🤣
Same. Gold and Grey’s production is so bad that I won’t listen to it other than live versions. I saw them on that tour and LOVE the songs but goddam that production sucks.
production always comes down to personal preference, but for MY personal preference, Gold and Grey has absolutely disastrous production. The drum sound is so bad it makes Seb sound like a fill-in jazz guy that had never heard baroness before. Stone on the other hand whips absolute ass and everyone sounds huge.
I've been a big fan of Baroness since 2008-09 and I'm always checking out their new material even if it's not my favorite. I really appreciate the dedication John, Gina, Nick and Seb have to the craft of songwriting and album composition in a day of instant gratification. ENJOY the RUNDOWN!
the real magic of Baroness is their commitment to growing and changing without forsaking their old material. If you like Red and Blue, they're gonna play that stuff live! If Gold and Grey is the best album you've ever heard, you're in luck! There's something for everyone in Baroness and I think they relish that fact.
One of my favorite bands, even though their music isn't in my heavy rotation. Their dedication to the music and following their muse is awesome; you don't get the same album from them time after time.
Gina inspired me to get a Fender Pro Tele in white years ago, i'm still so sad that I had to sell it for bills a while back. One of my favourite guitars I have owned.
Such a huge Baroness and also Gina Gleason fan. She’s the shit. If you haven’t watched the “Two Minutes To Latenight” episode she was on, it was shortly after she joined Baroness, and she’s hilarious. And these folks have never made a bad album. So good.
2m2ln was my introduction to Gina. I hadn't listened to Baroness for a while and didn't know she had joined them, but I immediately fell in love with her style and humor and love her contribution to where Baroness has gone.
I honestly think you can get the great sounds you need out of any descent studio. Guitar wise; one 62 reissue SG, one Les Paul Standard, one Les Paul Junior single cut with black dog ear P-90, one Nashville style Tele w/3pick ups and 5 way switch, one vintage strat that both guitarist agree upon preferably 63 original, one Gretsch white falcon w/Bigsby, one Gibson J-45, on Gibson hummingbird, one Gibson J-200 tobacco burst. Basses; 59 Fender P-bass burst with pickup cover and ashtray bridge cover maple fretboard, Rickenbacker 4001 autumn glo, Gibson EB-O(long scale if the band tunes down), vintage Music Man Stingray 4 string, and while I’m on that no more than 4 strings on a bass and no more than 6 strings on a guitar. If you can’t do it on 4 and 6 you probably can’t do it correct at all. Ok onto amps, guitar first; 60’s Twin Reverb and Super Reverb, Vox AC-30w/top boost and a range master pedal to go with it and every other amp most likely. Marshall 100watt super lead or jcm800-2204 preferably both! Matamp GT120 prefer original from 60’s, Orange AD-30, Orange Thunderverb200. Highly recommended but not required will be a SOUND CITY120, and HIWATT DR-103, LANEY super group, BadCat 2x12 combo it’s cream color but I forget exact model but every studio I go in has one hahaha. Boogie Mark I, Mark4, Mark5, Mark6, Boogie Nomad, absolutely no MESA single, dual, or triple rectifiers series amps. This last one blurs into out next category that’s a 1968 Fender Bassman dipedge, with matching dual showman cabs, the 2x12 Jensens for Guitar and the 2x15 JBL’s for bass but I prefer to use both cabs for everything. Ok bass amps; Ampeg V4V, B25B, Acoustic 370 head with 301 Cab and a good sans amp bass driver with direct box. Orange AB140. That should cover that. Pedals I love and use all the time; vintage Big Green Russian Big MUFF, black Sovtek Big MUFF, BOSS Blues Driver, Super Overdrive, Hyper Fuzz,DS-1, Big MUFF op-amp, Big MUFF wicker(in love with that one), Beringher SF-300 superfuzz!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keeley El Rey (best sounding plexi preamp I’ve ever played and it has a toggle for a modern voicing like JCM800 and 900. Hall of Fame reverb pedal, JHS white delay box, MXR 6band EQ, PHASE 90, PHASE 45, Carbon Copy, Danelectro Talk Back reverse delay, Electro-Harmonix Knockout Compression pedal, JHS little black box voltage drop attenuator, MOOER pure octave, MXR Timmy. That’s about everything, now of course there are other guitar company’s who make great six strings like RIC 625, 330, 360. Guild made some awesome guitars all the way through the late 70’s early 80’s, along with Fenders offset bodies like Jaguar, Jazzmaster, Mustang, Kurt Cobain Jaguar with dual humbuckers, and his own model Jagstang. With Gibson you have the Flying V, Firebird, Thunderbird bass, Explorer, Marauders. All the hollowbody ES line of guitars, my personal favorite the 355!! I could go on for days but that’ll do for now. NONONONO I ALMOST committed a cardinal sin the ONE AND THE ONLY MARSHALL BLUESBREAKER! Clapton/Beano/John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers. Oh and for guitar cabs it’s a Marshall 4x12 Celestion greenbacks, Blue Alnico, Vintage 30’s, and G12T75, which they can be loaded in to any brand can like Laney, Orange. Fenders get Weber’s, Jensen, and JBL’s.
Unfortunately I’ve never got past the ‘Death Magnetic esque’ brick wall mastering of some of the Baromess albums. It’s a shame because otherwise I think I would love this band.
I just saw that John switched to Rics, I was interested in hearing about that. I do hope at some point they talk about dealing with 60 cycle hum given the high gain sounds they use
"We are including Nick this time, we didn't do it in 2019. We apologise to that fans out there" Turns to Nick "We are going to go through this REAL QUICK" Attitude towards Bass players as per usual...
They recorded in Barryville?!? I live on the PA side of the river just across from Barryville New York. That’s crazy. Would’ve been so fucking cool to run into them. I probably have some gear that they might’ve been interested in using as well. Small fucking world
Get these guys some stools and put them side by side. Jon is the leader of the band, so it’s normal for him to do most of the question answering, but it’s awkward to leave Gina standing over to the other side for huge swaths of the interview. When the interviewer looks at the person talking, whoever it is, the body language on screen is awkward because it cuts the other person out. It’s all solved if you put the band members side-by-side. The interview content itself is gold, though.
If Baroness were to get a proper singer they could easily take over the world. No disrespect intended to John Baizley, he is a great musician but his voice and singing style don't fit their music in my opinion.
Gonna have to courteously disagree. I’m looking at the whole discography, and maybe you mean more so their more recent stuff, but his singing on the Red album? What she brought to the table on Gold & Grey? They’re pretty fantastic. And yeah, they’re evolving, which is great, and so how they treat two voices is evolving, but they’re pretty great in my opinion.
Premier needs to get rid of all their hosts. This is something that is bringing down the quality of the channel since the beginning. I don’t need a 2 minute diatribe every 5 minutes (like it’s planned) by your nobody brohosts while I’m trying to learn about gear.

Rarely have I witnessed such a perfect replacement in a band. She's much more than a replacement... She brought 2 voices and a fiery attitude with her! Rock on!!!! 🤟🤟
Part of me wishes Pete would rejoin and they’d just have three guitarists and three singers
Baroness is the only band where I always listen to their live sets over their albums because they sound that much better. Whoever is producing them has been squashing their mixes and completely killing those beautiful guitar tones and vocal harmonies.

Stone is much better though, but the Purple and Gold and Grey sound was really bad.
Speaking of which, their Live in the K! Pit might be the best live show I’ve ever seen on RUclips.
production always comes down to personal preference, but for MY personal preference, Gold and Grey has absolutely disastrous production. The drum sound is so bad it makes Seb sound like a fill-in jazz guy that had never heard baroness before. Stone on the other hand whips absolute ass and everyone sounds huge.

Love gina she's awesome 😊
She´s one of a kind, such a great human being
This woman boys love to hang out with.
Gold and Grey is a MASTERPIECE. Every component of this band is in a class of their own. Love the Carcass hat Gina!
Thank you for asking Gina and John to go through their different gain stages! Would love to see this with other artists more often in the future
Gina G is a total badass on the guitar on vocals and as a stage performer !!! She is absolutely the real deal with a killer touch.
A new Mastodon rig rundown would be awesome...
Saw them in Atlanta last year. Had never heard them before and they blew my mind
Love Baroness. Every album has its own universe.
Saw Baroness live last year, sooo good! They are so tight live. I don’t play drums but I’m going to watch Sebastian’s rundown after this ✌🏻
Rock on!
the real magic of Baroness is their commitment to growing and changing without forsaking their old material. If you like Red and Blue, they're gonna play that stuff live! If Gold and Grey is the best album you've ever heard, you're in luck! There's something for everyone in Baroness and I think they relish that fact.
Baroness is love. Yellow and Green saved my sad life.
I remember seeing baroness around ten times (maybe a little more) around ‘08/‘09 during sxsw. It was wild. They’re so good.
That was killer, huge Baroness fan, they've never made a bad album. Come back to Australia guys! Thanks so much!
One of my favorite bands, even though their music isn't in my heavy rotation. Their dedication to the music and following their muse is awesome; you don't get the same album from them time after time.
Such an underrated band. They sounds absolutely massive live .
another great episode! hope you got that Cattle Decapitation gig at Brooklyn Bowl!
My favorite band. I switched to teles and strats because of them
I have been waiting for this video for a decade lol thanks!
Oh man, now I want a DOD grunge pedal for my bass board!
Tube 50w 4x10's are sonic goodness ! Amp Collector from 1970. Love Gina is a go getter and my first Baroness ever 🤍
Gina inspired me to get a Fender Pro Tele in white years ago, i'm still so sad that I had to sell it for bills a while back. One of my favourite guitars I have owned.
Awesome band
When will see a Cory Feldman rundown? That would be kind of interesting. I apologize in advance. Really.

31:41 I'm a Jedi. Like my father, before me.
Gina Gleason is the bomb!

A JC-120 is AWESOME.
Until you have to carry it...
Lol. I used to own one, and that's why I sold it.
Gina fcking rules
Can't believe im late for this rig rundown
22:00 it was at Fabrique Club in Sao Paulo, Brazil. June 23rd 2019. I was there, it was unexpected lol
hell yeah
Unfortunately I’ve never got past the ‘Death Magnetic esque’ brick wall mastering of some of the Baromess albums. It’s a shame because otherwise I think I would love this band.
Live, they are really something else. Check out the full show from last year's Freak Valley Festival. It was pretty magical
10″ speakers and light strings detuned? No wonder I love their sound so much
I just saw that John switched to Rics, I was interested in hearing about that. I do hope at some point they talk about dealing with 60 cycle hum given the high gain sounds they use
Gates
❤
I knew it was gonna be an hour
Don't underestimate airbnbs for acoustics. I, once, slept in a church as airbnb !
Carcass hat :D
"We are including Nick this time, we didn't do it in 2019. We apologise to that fans out there" Turns to Nick "We are going to go through this REAL QUICK"
Attitude towards Bass players as per usual...
DOD Grunge FTW!
They recorded in Barryville?!? I live on the PA side of the river just across from Barryville New York. That’s crazy. Would’ve been so fucking cool to run into them. I probably have some gear that they might’ve been interested in using as well. Small fucking world
John McCauley on bass 😁
If you close your eyes it sounds like Dwight talking .
I'm also team Blue. But, Baroness hasn't made a bad record. 🤷♂
Gina was partly my influence to get an Amer. Pro II Tele, and it's been the best decision I could have made. 10/10
Where was the Air B&B that they recorded the record?
Get these guys some stools and put them side by side. Does Gina make her voice deeper sounding on purpose when she does interviews??
Is it dumb to say that Gina is playing a dual rectifier rig? lol jk
Clark Carol Williams John Davis Paul
I literally thot he said drug rundown! Sitting in a dark red room I thot wow those guys are wasted
Explain to the folks at home who Baroness are
This Baroness fella sounds like a real jerk!
Pearl Jam is on tour- just saying -
But also- nice work on Baroness- these guys rule
I don't know if it's the Ric or the JC120 but John's tone is pretty weak.
If Baroness were to get a proper singer they could easily take over the world. No disrespect intended to John Baizley, he is a great musician but his voice and singing style don't fit their music in my opinion.

Can't hear Baroness any other way.
Ugh. Purple album was when they first lost their heaviness. Should we tell him what a red handkerchief in the back pocket means? 😉 @19:13
Premier needs to get rid of all their hosts. This is something that is bringing down the quality of the channel since the beginning. I don’t need a 2 minute diatribe every 5 minutes (like it’s planned) by your nobody brohosts while I’m trying to learn about gear.
No hosts, no bros, no show, no dice
It’s free content dawg. Nobody is forcing you to watch!
I bet you’re just a blast to hang around! 😂
Nobody's forcing you to watch man, they're doing pretty well regardless of your opinion.
I quite like them, Chris always has a pretty chill vibe and artists seem to enjoy speaking to him...
Chris does a great job, I so wish I could do the same
