Great review...I have a BGE and have done a lot of great things with it without a meat thermometer. Looked on Amazon after this review and the TP-17 has over 5,500 reviews and this thermometer still received a 4.5 out of a five star rating. Saved me a lot of money because I was going to buy a much more expensive BGE unit. Thanks!
Really great video, you have a great voice. I am ordering one today so I can simultaneously monitor the temperature inside my cheap electric smoker as well as the meat that I am cooking. By the way, I just subscribed to your channel.
Can I use 1 of the probes to check the meat, and the other to check the oven temperature without having to keep opening the oven to check the oven thermometer I placed in the oven? I think on the amazon video, it says you can.
Just received one of the today. I am building a pasteurization system for hot sauce. I have a 20 quart double boiler. I will drill two holes in the top so i can have one probe shallow and one probe deep. I am assuming the probes sense temperature at the tip of the probe.
I was wondering the same thing...You can wedge the metal clip between the grids and then stick the probe in there so that you can monitor smoker temps (not the meat temp)
So are the probes both the same? Are they interchangeable? I know one can be used to monitor the grill/smoker temp OR to monitor meat temp…but is there any difference in the probes themselves? (One of their models “does” specify one as a meat probe and one as a temp probe). 🇨🇦
Excellent explanation! Thank you.

yes you can. ThermoPro did a RUclips video with instructions on the TP-17, and at the end they demonstrate the scenario you describe.

Great job on meat probe review!!!
I just got it. What is the metal clip with the holes in it for? Thanks!
Matt Montgomery it’s just to make the packaging stronger. Chuck that sucker in the recycle or garbage

@@gurgr888 Thanks
@@OnDaCh1p The clip is used to hold the probe on the edge of a pan or the edge of oil tank if using for oil cooker.
it can also be used for smokers as a replacement for the manufacture's thermometer (which can be inaccurate for some models)
Excellent. Just got this today, I think the best $25 I've spent in a while.

Thanks, excellent video very informative. Got mine today
What is the metal bracket in the package???
That's if you want to rest one of the probes on the grill itself to take the temperature of the grill when smoking or barbecueing with the lid on.
@@simtsoz4905 How do you use it or how is it attached to the grill? Would appreciate it if you could show a sample of how it's attached. thanks.
I got this very recently; am yet to use it. This must be one of the best reviews on the product. Thank you.
Can it be attached (with magnets) to the Weber Original Kettle charcoal grill lid? Doesn’t break due to high temperature?
Mine has magnets on back built-in
You totally stole Chef John's music ;)
What’s the difference between this model end the Thermopro TP-20? Great review thanks
Can you leave it in the oven?
Can you use just one probe?
Yes
So you don't have any experience with this. What is your experience with durability over many uses?
Gave thumbs down because you don't reply to questions!!
You didn’t help with the set up of the modes.
