Steve, you've created the most thoughtful detailed videos for self-publishing I have ever seen. They are superb! Keep on presenting how to use Canva, and would love to see more on creating reflowable books that have images. How they look, what to watch for, e.g. double column fixed layout book type do not adapt well to reflowable or do they.

Thank you, Martha, for your kind words. I'm knee-deep in getting a couple of books out before the end of the month, but rest assured, I will have more great videos soon.
As for columns, unfortunately, they don't convert well in a reflowable format.
      Kind regards, Steve.

@@StevePeel I just finished creating a print replica recipe ebook with pics because when I tried it through Kindle Create Reflowable the nutritional info was changing direction even after being aligned well in place. I hope the book sells now. I have added the index with the page numbers.

@ingridf5542 This is why we its important to use Fixed Layout for books where I so important that all elements remain in place. Relfowable is best for mostly text. I use Fixed Layout for my recipe and childrens books.

I have an 8.5 x 11 picture book with 26 pt. font. I made an epub by first making a .docx file with page breaks and converting. Please note that there is only a single picture per page. The epub is reflowable. Do I need to make it fixed, and if so is there any easier way than figuring out how to use indesign?

It depends. Do you need to keep the text in the exact same place, and would that place be over an image of any kind? If so, you will likely need a fixed layout. If your image can be above or below your text or even appear on another page, then reflowable will be fine. Reflowable text will not go over an image, it will move it if needed. The best thing to do now that you have a re-flowable epub is to see how it looks in an epub viewer.

Hi, yes you should have image heavy eBooks in fixed layout so that the images don’t wander about freely. Reflowable let’s text adjust to the screen and the text can be adjusted in size. You don’t want that with image heavy eBooks, and it won’t look good for the company publishing it.
